  1. Are we seeing snow storms now for 2nd/3rd March? Will be gutted as I'm out of the country then, what are the odds anything that has fallen sticks around until Monday?!
  2. First weekend of March is when I'm away. Just be typical to miss some big snow events.
  3. What are the chances of me missing any decent cold/snow next weekend? I'm hoping anything that does fall will stick around into Monday but is there evidence yet of any milder incursions through that weekend?
  4. I know it is early days and I Wass slagging the models off yesterday but now starting to get more interested in this event. Typically I'm in Madrid from 2nd-5th March which is a little annoying as I will miss some of the extreme cold and potential snow. Not like I'm compensating for it by travelling to East Europe either!
  5. We keep chasing this easterly and have done since December. In the meantime it keeps being pushed back. I mean this week has been pretty dull and non-descript weather wise and I feel we've suddenly hit Spring. I will believe it when I see the first signs of colder weather as at the moment that's a week away.
  6. What depths do we have in Stoke. I'm in Amsterdam where we had snow Friday but it's been brutally cold in the wind but face temp was 5c. It doesn't feel like that for sure!
  7. This is a great forecast with the new graphics, much better than the national one: https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/0/2654675
  8. An odd one, especially now as the snow on grass is so dry but the pavements are like icerinks already. That said it is another day to add with falling snow, we've done well for both 'wet' and 'dry' snow as well this winter.
  9. Saw a video from Shell Island earlier and it looked covered in snow which I presume is a rarity due to its location.
  10. Same issue until the last hour really here, it has stuck to hedges and trees and is a powder consistancy but struggled with any tarmac. After last nights below temps and hovering at 0C this surprises me. However the front seems to have pepped up and its much better now, looks like another half hour until it clears.
  11. Driving down the M6 there was lots of snow falling and blowing but not settling much.
  12. Snow falling nicely now but melting on impact. Looks very grim on the tops though with the added murk.
  13. Interesting to see some hill snow potential for the weekend. It really is a week cold, week mild this winter. Apparently charts show a nationwide snow event on Sat 10th, which would be typical as I'm in Amsterdam!
  14. I also notice more people walking in snow and enjoying the outdoors rather than being in front of the telly so it does have benefits!
  15. I dunno, I quite like the mildness today as it hasn't been gloomy and it is nice to not have to layer up to walk the dog. That said I prefer the two days of mild and back to cold scenario.
  16. Yes I went into the gym at 8.30 and it was 4c and left and it was 8c in the space of an hour. Crazy warm up. Great weekend of weather though.
  17. Indeed, there is still snow in sheltered patches, a very icy snow but it hasn't washed away as much as I thought. Conditons aren't nice though with the grass being waterlogged.
  18. A video from Friday nights snow over the Cat and Fiddle. There isn't a great deal to see as it was getting dark but gives you an idea of how the road conditions had improved albiet only the main roads.
  19. Just come around 10 mins north of mine to Brown Edge in Staffs Moorlands and whilst down at 500m it is slushy mess now, here at 800m or so it is a winter wonderland still. -1c currently.
  20. Can hear icy rain mixing in now. Shame as got several CM in just a couple of hours. Game over.
  21. Rain Today Premium shows no mix/snow element down in Birmingham so interesting to see reports of the snow. Just shows how knife-edge it must be. We have wet snow in intervals here but not sticking. A wintery scene up near Flash though: https://www.winkingman.co.uk/webcam/
  22. Just been up to Flash and Cat and Fiddle this evening to get my wintery fix (it was December last after all). As usual another world up there. No snow until you climb from Leek. The depths aren't that impressive, but the drifting and blowing snow was for sure. The wind was really strong and wind-chill was bitter. Found my usual sheltered field for a play with the dog and some nearly knee deep drifts. The snow was powder fresh and untouched too. Drove round Cat and Fiddle road and it is open now, done a good job ploughing but some snow is covering over again in the wind. Will have a video soon.
  23. Is this system even called anything? Major disruption countrywide this morning!
  24. Very windy overnight, strongest gusts this year so far. Funny as it didn't warrant a 'name'.
