  1. Enough snow In Stoke to cripple the roads. Gridlock all over the city for 1cm
  2. Snowing here north of Hanley. Big flakes but not cold enough to settle. Looks like the band will only last an hour or so.
  3. Is this also the closest gap in months terms between snow since we had snow In March?
  4. First snow of erm Autumn here. Light flakes though.
  5. Was a lovely day, started cloudy again then cleared at lunchtime. Very warm at the Nantwich food festival (technically Northwest though)
  6. A stunner today, murky early on but cloud burnt off and the heat returns. Lovely!
  7. Today seemed the first day in some time that the sun felt 'warm'. Quite cool now after dark but earlier it was like a throwback to July.
  8. This to me is classic August as we well know. I always feel September and even October these days offer better weather and it can be a nice round-off to any Summer we have had. Certainly feels cool today but the showers have been impressive.
  9. First rain properly in months and it smells so good! Drought well and truly finished here. Not sure how long the grass will turn green though again!
  10. Hoping to get to 30c or above tomorrow. Be disappointed if not. Today was pleasant but can feel the humidity tonight.
  11. Rain in the air. Such a lovely start at 5am too. Just driven from 28c in Birmingham to 21c in Stoke and feeling noticeably fresher.
  12. We had rain for most of yesterday evening, which truely ends the drought. Feels a lot fresher this morning with that damp feel. Not sure how quick grass etc will respond to the rain though, any thoughts?
  13. First rain IMBY for over a month as we dodged the rain last Friday. A 2 minute downpour and that is it. Bit of waste to end the drought.
  14. My wife reported torrential rain in Newcastle but by home we had a faint drizzle which didn't even wet the ground. I guess that counts the dry spell over. Dark early tonight too, complete contrast to weeks past. Feel a bit depressed. Looks like the parched land will be a thing of the past and something we may not see for several decades again!
  15. Considering this is the 'cooler' day it is a stunner. More so than yesterday with bright blue skies again and the heat of the sun is warm. Less sticky than yesterday.
  16. I think that may be similar in Stoke as we missed that torrential rain that Birmingham had, but my memory is hazy now. If so, it was certainly just a small shower.
  17. may be more cloud today but certainly sticky. Some threatening looking ones now overhead, kind of hoping to see this week out without rain.
  18. Cloud has really bubbled up this afternoon but very warm in sunny spells.
  19. First time we have had seen proper cloud in weeks this afternoon. Still warm though just need the Med type skies.
  20. Clouded over as the sun dropped but what a difference as the humidity has risen, feels really warm tonight
  21. I have forgotten as well. I vaugely remember there was meant to be a break down which this far north never happened but in Birmingham it did rain. Therefore I suspect we are approaching 3 weeks since we had a drop of rain.
  22. Fire still burning but controlled so far. Smoke isn't as extensive as Sunday.
  23. I'll admit, this morning the low cloud was extensive as soon as you left the A500 onto the M6. To the North a cloudless start but it seems to have burned off very quickly today.
