  1. What a contrast to the week just passed. Beautiful day, pleasant in the sun and feeling warm. Time for the garden to finally dry out!
  2. Once again I leave the Midlands into Staffs and the fog has lifted. still dull but no where near as hideous as south and not damp either.
  3. Thick fog all morning, a brief heavy shower which lifted the fog but it has now descended on Birmingham again. Horrific weather.
  4. Yesterday was vile and today looks the same here in Birmingham. The fog hasn't lifted for 24 hours. Meanwhile further north its been dull in Stoke but no where near as made as the smoggy look here.
  5. Gone from muggy earlier with rain to distinctly cold now with a strong wind. Felt like winter again with a wind chill of -1. Earlier was almost tshirt weather.
  6. Cold rain here. Looks like a pasting over the hills though and in Buxton as per usual. Frustrating as wanted one last squeeze of snow.
  7. At work in Birmingham and the snow seems thicker than in Stoke, was there more falling overnight? It seems to have melted less on paths and roads than up north too.
  8. Popping my head in here to say how impressive the radar looked for the south west last night. I imagine some areas especially round the coast have had there heaviest snow in decades. Not jealous since we see snow every year at least once, but for the snow-starved this must be special.
  9. Same here, doesn't make it looks so pretty with the black tarmac versus the snow on the grass. Better for driving mind, but I hadn't expected such a large melt rate. At times overnight the showers were very intense causing whiteout conditions.
  10. Deepest snow of winter (or should that be Spring) here. A good 10cm at least but drifting higher. There is a really rapid melt though now despite the sun not being out and light snow falling which is frustrating
  11. Plenty of snow falling tonight, must be a few CM now. A lovely scene, not sure how long it will last in the morning mind!
  12. The last shower was the best of the day, it has whited over all surfaces now, even the main roads are white over too,.
  13. Yeah I lost track too. This shower over the top now seems to have merged with another and at that point probably time to give up counting! Grass is doing well from this, tarmac not so well but no surprise after the warmth this week.
  14. It is beginning now. Even if the snow doesn't settle that much fun watching these showers come over.
  15. Plenty of 'mini blizzards' and then really bright sunshine in between. -1 is the high but it feels warmer to be honest in the sun.
  16. Finally some settling thanks to graupel, visibility is quite low at the moment and the wind is strong,
  17. Doesn't feel as bone perishing outside as the last event, the strong sun is making it feel comfortable outside the wind. We have another heavy shower now but not really settling. Looks nice though!
  18. I get emails from the council on gritting and they will be out from 2am.
  19. Interesting times ahead, could be in for our biggest fall of winter so far here. Even better is how muggy it feels today, nearly t-shirt in the sun yet tomorrow will drop a good 10 degrees plus wind-chill! Reminds me of the USA with wild temp swings in Spring.
  20. Snow here in Oldbury, a pleasant surprise.
  21. Sleet in Stoke before a transition to rain at around 5am. It really was throwing it down, proving the old snow shield has broken down since last week now it is RAIN! Flash looks to have a good covering and parts of the north getting heavy snow.
  22. I echo the rain issue. Heavy rain all night, never fails to materalise in Stoke. What I will say of last week was the awesomely low temps and blowing and drifting snow will live in memory for me, despite Stoke missing most of the heavy stuff. Sadly I missed the fun and games of Friday and Saturday in the Midlands as I went to Madrid (where guess what, it was raining with British like temps due to the jet stream location).
  23. I'm in Madrid but can't help watching the radar and how the hell is the snow dying off around Stoke again.
  24. Just in Solihull and travelled from Stoke this morning. Impressive blowing from fields on M6, more snow down here though but it doesn't feel as powdery underfoot as up north.
  25. We're out for the night it seems, so I shall retreat to bed as flying to Madrid in the morning from Birmingham. Typically potentially missing two more snow days which is frustrating. I just hope there is still snow around Monday.
