  1. Making the most of the showers here today as I think the frontal snow tomorrow won't be that bad here with a focus further south.
  2. A good shower must have passed here in the last hour or so as we have a good CM or so out of it. Cheshire Gap showers must further east today too.
  3. Had a heavy shower in the last hour which started as graupel and then turned to heavy snow. Impressive covering from just one shower (just shows how those catching all the showers are knee deep in the stuff today). What was noticeable after the show was how quickly what did fall froze over. It got crispier as I walked the dog. Pleased for Shropshire though, some amazing pictures from there. Sunday could prove to be memorable on top of a good base. Possible flooding by Wednesday though?
  4. Amongst all the snow talk here, over in Texas, Houston has recorded its second snowfall in about 17 years (some north of the city have had a few falls but not the city). 1-3 inches was recorded and a Winter Storm warning was in place for Corpus Christi TX down to Laredo TX on the Mexico border which last had snow in 2004. Prior to that it was 1940 and then 1895, so only the forth recorded on recorded!
  5. The local nature of the snow cover is quite something really. In Quinton we had a few inches but literally a mile up the road the grass is green. That band of showers has been very narrow in nature but persisant and Shrewsbury has been lucky to be under it all. That said for all the super duper weather they have had over the years, they deserve this dump. I've seen snow every year in 10 here in Stoke so I won't begrudge the lack of activity here today (well a little).
  6. Any chance of the winds shifting to include Stoke in the showers?
  7. This streamer is very narrow. Looks like Stoke will miss out but Quinton is getting plastered still. We seem to be the northerly line.
  8. Roads are stuffed round Stourbridge, Clent, south west of Birmingham. Coming down heavy.
  9. Looks like the streamer sweet spot will be Shropshire. Stoke avoiding most of it sadly. Plenty of snow here in Quinton.
  10. I can confirm it was raining around Stafford on my journey to work. Can't believe there wasn't even a dusting of snow in Stoke this morning. Not convinced by today, let alone Sunday now.
  11. Retreating to bed for the 4am alarm. Got my shovel packed for the car as I need to get to Birmingham. Not looking forward to the return journey at 2pm hence the supplies!
  12. Really looking forward to tomorrow through Sunday but the thought of the Atlantic on Wednesday is a bit gutting. If it is a one day mild sector, if we get enough snow hopefully it doesn't all melt.
  13. Is that nailed on now? I saw temps were rising slightly but was hoping whatever snow fell would stick around for the week.
  14. The Metoffice forecast for Friday is looking good for both Stoke and Birmingham with the heavy snow symbol for most of the day. I'm not relishing the journey home up the M6 in Friday traffic though.
  15. BBC charts are rubbish anyway for snow, so hardly a deal breaker. Just look at last weeks showers on the east coast as an example. The best forecast is the window in a nowcasting situation. I'm more interested beyond what happens Sunday too as there seems conflicting information in the models.
  16. Away from the short-term, what are the expectations for the North Midlands going into next week? Reading a lot of stuff about rain etc on Wednesday but temps still seem low.
  17. Ah so over already it seems? The extended outlook seemed to be good before!
  18. Certainly some good charts for the north Midlands coming up. I'll take this dank muck the start of the week if we are getting a good cold blast. Going to be interesting temperature contrasts from Thursday morning to the afternoon as the front comes in (more akin to Americas cold fronts).
  19. A stunning day. Bright blue azure skies and a high of 3c. Frost still around and nice dry air, perfect for walking. If you cannot get snow, this is the next best thing. Shame it is a one day wonder
  20. Some video from my drive near Flash on Saturday:
  21. Been for a drive to Flash. A good 5cm or so on the ground, mixture of pellets and snow falling. Roads were passable too.
  22. I need a 4x4 for these occasions. Surprised they are still closed, they are usually very quick to plough. Cat and Fiddle webcam looks very bleak,.
  23. Didn't expect to see that much up there. Tempting being a Saturday to head up but the main road is closed due to stuck lorries.
