  1. Good job I did get into work...haha. Snow has stopped and the radar has dried up ahead of the main band. Nothing extra in Crewe.
  2. I can imagine as it's literally like that here! I can't believe how bad it's getting...got to decide whether to venture into work and I will have to drive back up this hill later.
  3. I can confirm that the belt is building over me as moving up (Audley, North Staffs). Woke up to light snow and a howling wind but it;s getting heavier and heavier. It seems the approaching belt is either intensifying what we have or just building on top of us. Bodes well for later! The view from my house is amazing! Seeing it blow everywhere, the trees all misty is the distance.
  4. Are they expecting the snow to head further west over the north mids overnight? As the new warnings go west from here but the showers are currently die before getting even here? I hope so.
  5. Is it just me or is this evening a lot more exciting than I was expecting?!?
  6. I'm feeling quite emotional as even though we only have a few cm (Yes, I know some have had nothing. haha) I have seen sights today that I have not seen since I was a child over 20 years ago. Seeing the mist of heavy powder snow falling, hearing the wind howl and snow blowing along the floor like sand, seeing icicles form... There was a point 30 mins ago when we were on the edge of a heavy shower so the sun was being blotted out by the heavy snow, giving the sky a brilliant but eerie glow. Slightly gutted there weren't more showers but the sights I have seen have been beautiful and will never forget them. Let's hope there is more chance of these sights for us all. <3
  7. OMG!! Pouring down in Crewe, heavy big flakes floating and instantly sticking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a GOD!! hahah
  8. That heavy blob is heading towards Crewe!?!? WTF, could it actually reach here?
  9. Love this predictive radar (3 hours ahead) http://meteoradar.co.uk/zoom/675/742/verwacht#
  10. Updated 6z ARPEGE has another heavy band of snow crossing at rush hour...that wasn't there (or definitely not as intense) on the 0z
  11. OMG!! Snowing!!! The weather Gods have heard me!!
  12. This is from the Yorkshire thread... looks where they think the streamer will be... The Met Office must assume not much will make it across the Pennines? *Edit* If we carry on the amber to our west then a lot of people will be happy.
  13. In the Yorkshire thread they are calling it the "12pm Streamer". That's the one Joe is on about I think.
  14. Haha. Love our IMBY posts are next to each other!! Yes I want them to edge SW!!
  15. Not going to lie, watching the radar is really frustrating...watching bands of snow reach way further west further north makes me want to scream unfair!! haha. Why are they making their way all across up there but petering out here with minimal high ground to my east? I think what makes it frustrating is this is one of the rare times in the past 10 years I could see daytime drifting snow...can't remember the last time I saw it. We just need one shower, just one!! Come on weather Gods, move those bands slightly south and give us a go!!
  16. I hope so too, the seem to definitely be ramping up, let's hope it's enough to make it west.
  17. Have you seen Quantum's post on TWO? Basically saying that lots of instability moves in tonight with high levels of CAPE... found the chart he was on about... He also posted a precipitation radar showing some snow linked to it... if they make their way over then it makes our showers now look like drizzle.
  18. Same here, drove home from Crewe, was 4c in the town centre, dropped to 3c just outside...as I drove my 15 mins home I could see an incoming shower...by the time I got home it was - and I don't use it loosely- blizzard type conditions, SO heavy and -1c. Bonkers!!! My dash cam picked it up, going to copy it for future reference. It covered most places with a few more cms.
  19. On the BBC forecast it looks like another band of snow moving west around lunch time... It moves west on the sequence, yes it breaks up but better than nothing.
  20. I've tweeted the Met O about the - what seems to be - the conflicting information on the GIF
  21. Yes!! I thought the same thing when I saw it before on Twitter??!
  22. I can't find the updated Arpege for tonight yet? It's still on 6z?
  23. The only thing I think they are doing is awaiting the 12z models for a firmer idea of where? They should get them a bit before and amend if necessary.
