  1. Been out all day and only just back in - so how's my southward correction doing so far?
  2. Yes we're now entering the era of the 'easterly monsoon' establishing across the UK for the next few hundred years - LOL Think I'm joking?? Easterly into FI
  3. As I have said several times, watch the pattern shift south. Not sure how far south but I have seen it so many times before and this looks really good for verifying. Hoping like hell for a snowy shot again for the far south.
  4. But you seem desperate to see a mild shift in every single model run, which I can understand if you don't like the cold it's just that objectivity can be the first casualty of personal preference in this case. Those of us who like / love the cold will admit defeat when anything mild which is real and substantive shows in the models - at the moment it ain't - sorry!
  5. We hope so and METO haven't discounted it yet - forecast for SE below. Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Wednesday largely cloudy, with limited sunny intervals, also scattered showers. Thursday generally dry and bright, although still rather cold. Friday frosty start then cloud and rain or snow later. Updated: 0333 on Mon 18 Mar 2013 Boringly mild today in the south so let's hope it improves later in the week.
  6. Looks more like a west based -ve NAO shift rather than true 'zonal tain' etc..
  7. Then just keep the faith that the pattern will edge south. It's not really going to go much north and even if it did that would end us up in mediocre bilge - it's very close and marginal and I think will change subtly from day to day..Anyway Gavin & Mushy will get plenty of rain and drizzle to sait their appetites if 240hr ECM verifies
  8. A nasty ECM at 144hrs not wanting to undercut and far too round shaped LP Let's hope UKMO is more on song. EDIT: Well, trough disrupting at 168hrs so not quite as dire as it looked but needs to adjust south. Needs to try harder - Grade B+
  9. Reasonably chilly to start April A bit too mild by day But a chance of some frost at night Will April follow on from March?
  10. Gavin: "there we are folks I told you so, the snow definately feels warmer in April!" Only teasing - LOL!
  11. Great runs again this afternoon and this evening - if this had been 2 months ago or at the start of february the synoptics would have been a pretty good match for feb 1947 in snow potential and longevity. Let's hope we get the shift south that we need over the next few runs.
  12. I am hoping so - best would be a Channel Isles type correction for the south coast of course. LOL
  13. Just goes to show that the current synoptic pattern (N blocking) is far from finished with us and the whole country will be on the cusp of some proper wintry weather for what looks like the whole of the rest of march! My favourite snapshot this morning is from GFS Maybe better illustrated in higher resolution as follows We wouldn't need exceptional uppers to get snow in the south if the timing was right All to play for.
  14. I thought you had chucked in the towel? 15. Frontal snow into Cornwall next weekend Pushing up NE Dartmoor's turn this time around - fingers crossed.
  16. A good run in the high res range and then in FI the usual shift towards Mushyman'sville having said that though it's not particularly a very mild development is it?
