  1. Even though this chart in FI is horrible for the south at least the cold air is not far away to the NE and stubbornly sticks in situ. Let's hope at the time it can back SW.
  2. Thank you Mary Hopkins - bet you don't remember her...Anyway a tidy ECM mean for next week fully backing up the OP. What a cracker - as Frank Carson would say..
  3. We need that LP on the UKMO to shift SE as quickly as possible to get another crack at the cold air over Scandi to be able to dig down over us. Could do with another wintry blast on my birthday. Yesterday and today were great for us in the south but too damned short lived, I'm used to a climate where the cold lasts for months and builds and builds. Didn't realise how much I missed it until I had a very tiny taste yesterday.
  4. Like this Nick coupled with a tasty little blob of sub 510 uppers entering East Anglia If this verified it would make March a bit special methinks.
  5. Bl**dy FANTASTIC here in Angmering this morning - couldnt believe it would STILL be snowing this morning when I awoke - but it IS and still drifting. Difficult to tell level depth both I guess around 5-6 inches. Looks like were're getting a streamer now after being pummeled by the channel low all day and night yesterday. No raffic moving at all around here and don't have a clue what the main roads are like A27, A29 etc - anyone know?? PS: -3.1C / DP -5.2C
  6. Well snow showing no sign of easing in fact it's increasing here in Angmering, looks like the real heavy stuff is heading north, right for us! http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ A great day to remember and some forecasts going for up to 10cm tonight in Sussex!
  7. Findon is dodgy, I turned round and went back earler when trying to go up the Long Furlong (A280) as traffic came to a standstill. I think the problem with the condition of the roads was down to the fact that they salted and gritted earler when the snow wasn't settling and it simply washed it all away. When the intensity increased and the temperaures dropped the snow stuck and that caused the problems, the traffic crawled along and the gritters couldn't make headway at all. STILL SNOWING & BLOWING like the clappers here in Angmering, piling in from the Channel according to the radar.
  8. Roads are chaotic here between Worthing and Arundel A27 closed, part of A29 closed etc, seems like no gritters have been out! Maybe they were taken in by the forecast this aftrnoon which I heard on the radio whilst driving through a snowstorm that there would be 'a few light snow showers in the south' LOL!! Just shows how the media can cock it all up - no doubt if they wittered on about a major snow fall there would have be sweet FA, so I'm happy they called it wrong, it's been briliant down here since about lunch time - just sad that it will be so short lived. BTW: Still snowing
  9. Try going up on the South Downs its not horrible it's absolutely awesome! Horizontal blizzard blowing and now intesifying, drifts up to the waist in parts, bitterly cold and almost whiteout conditions - bl**dy brilliant what a bit of elevation does. I'm lucky as I've got a Landrover and the access road, although snowed up now, is negotiable - but not for non 4WDs. My dogs had a whale of a time and got plastered in snow - I am a real big kid and just managed to tear myself away to finish off some work. As the snow is really pepping up again, I'll probably be back up the hill later on again - it's so rare down here you've got go and wallow in it folks! I'll try and get the pics off my iPhone if anyone wants to see?
  10. Bad as in downgrade from a decent snow event to a light dusting when there is a once in a blue moon opportunity to get a memorable blizzard like snow event for the south. I am on the south coast of Sussex and boy, can I assure you that such a chance is as rare as hen's teeth! It's just a crying shame to see it all descending into mediocrity again with the snow shifting ever further south with each run and being wasted in the Channel. The UK is surely one of the most frustrating countries in the world at times - weatherwise.
  11. I wouldn't be too cocky about it staying mild in the longer term based on the NH view from ECM
  12. Should be OK but it's very touch and go with METO not ready to make a call until early tomorrow. Channel Lows are very difficult to predict re: preciptation boundaries, at the moment the favoured location by all the main forecasting models is Dartmoor - see ya all on Haytor then for some sledging action!
  13. I do Nick and on the Coast! It's going to be torture over the next 48hrs - can I stand it? Will it be worth it? A few flakes, sleety rain or snowy Nirvana? We must be mad putting ourselves through all this.
  14. C'mon you guys in the north get loadsa snow all the time, leave this little number to us in the south on Mon-Wed we need a decent dump - badly! LOL
  15. METO are very mediocre about any snow impact for the SE Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Cold with brisk northeasterly winds giving a marked chill. Sunday, cloudy with rain, sleet and snow becoming mostly light. Clearing early on Monday, then brighter with a few snow showers. Updated: 1535 on Fri 8 Mar 2013 I'll go back to sleep..
  16. At the moment it's looking pretty damned good for us folks on the normally snowless south coast (W Sussex in my case) and if we get plastered on Monday / Tues I will follow suit and get plastered myself in celebration - LOL 06z GFS charts follow the 0z and show good consistency for a snowy Monday. Another solid pulse of precipitation on Monday / Tuesday night when temps will be at their coldest V strong easterly wind as well Potential blizzard conditions over the Downs.
  17. Agree , at the moment it's looking pretty damned good for us folks on the normally snowless south coast (W Sussex in my case) and if we get plastered on Monday / Tues I will follow suit and get plastered myself in celebration - LOL
  18. Certainly looking very good for the south overall and particularly the South Downs & Coast coast on Monday Not to mention the wind Excellent stuff!!
  19. Maybe but I can't see any good coming from that set up. We are on the wrong side of the pfj and the zonal train is establishing over the UK in due course.
