  1. Durham County Council provides an excellent gritting/ploughing servce in Teesdale. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  2. 18hr GFS. Blizzards for NE England at 180h. Could even be the expectionally rare severe blizzards for higher parts. Shame it wont happen. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  3. Down to 1.7C now. Shrs should be snow from now on. Should be chilly in the morning -3C in a fresh Easterly. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  4. Shrs will be of snow with 850mb of -10C on Thursday. I wouldn't be surprised if you have dusting of snow in the morning. Whether it lasts and how much will fall is tougher. N Sea is beig thermal store at presnt but the air is cold. Snow shrs with melting inbetween is my best bet. Look at the link below Meto invent has temp around 2C mark. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/invent/weathermap/ Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  5. 850mb temp are around -3/-4c across the NE at present. By the morning they should be down to -9C. That's some drop. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rmgfs092.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rmgfs212.gif Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  6. I would expect you have a dusting of snow in the morning, temps should struggle much above freezing during the day. At some piont I think you get to close to -10C before this is over. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  7. Snow will be falling from shrs across N Pennines above about 600m at present. Great Dun Fell has fallen below freezing again. Here I would expect snow from around midnight. Should be close to an ice day on Thursday. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  8. Unusual "snow inversion" taking place in East Cumbria. Snow moderate at times lying in Brough area. Snow falling/lying in the Eden Valley 500ft ( in < 0C inversion ) Climbing out the valley snow cover/falling disappears to 2000ft. Snow above this again as GDF is -0.8C at 0600z Back in Teesdale shrs sleety in nature, breeze from NE Temp 1.7C Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  9. Clear blue skies until about hour ago. Bank of fog has slowly moved up the valley through the morning. Vis went from 10 km's to around 50m in a few mins. Vis down to about 25m at times Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  10. Still some very tasty runs on 00z. The further North the Low from East/High further North the wintry spell it is more severe for the whole of the country. http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-8-1-144.png?0 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-10-1-144.png?0 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-11-1-144.png?0 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-13-1-144.png?0 best IMHO http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-18-1-144.png?0 Looking good for the South in most cases. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  11. Nearly all of 12 GFS runs are better. Here's a few. http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-2-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-4-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-5-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-8-1-162.png?12 One for the Scots http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-9-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-10-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-11-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-12-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-13-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-15-1-162.png?12 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-16-1-162.png?12[[:DD]] Mark
  12. I can recall that as well but there is no mention of the Oakehampton depth in the Meto review. Which is surprising when 'amateur' measurements are mentioned. Images from nearby Oakehampton showed depths around 25cm ish. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/interesting/feb2009/ Oakehampton Camp is just over 400m asl but this does appear a large jump in depth. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  13. No mention of Oakehampton 55cm on Meto review of the event. Not sure if this depth was authenticated. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  14. A few of the 06z runs produce on Easterly fairly early on. http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-7-1-162.png?6 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-8-1-162.png?6 http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-9-1-162.png?6 Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  15. No gritters in Derbyshire Drive carefully. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  16. Dusting of snow in Teesdale down around 200m asl. Light shrs/ flurries throught the day. Covering of snow down 400m asl yesterday in heavy precip. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  17. Shrs now turned into more prolonged rain as feature moves down from the NW. Windy Gales/Severe gales gusts must be 60/70mph. Driving mod/heavy rain temp 5.1C Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  18. Sharp blustery showers, some of hail. Gusty SW wind. Temp 4.3C Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  19. Driving light/mod rain here all morning, wind very gusty. Mild, temp 9.4C More rain to come this afternoon http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_weather.html Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  20. New Meto warning for Cumbria and SW Scotland. Up to 100mm. Looking the Meto rainfall model perhaps the rainfall will affect the Eden basin more than last Thurdays event. The lack of rainfall in the Upper Eden Valley was why Carlisle escaped flooding last week. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  21. 218mm figure was for Seathwaite from 14-14z. Heavy rain only started about 10pm last night. Whether its 0000-0000 or 0900-0900 I'm pretty confident a new record will be set. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  22. Seathwaite/Honister Pass will be well over 200mm now since midnight. 7 plus hours to go. There's a good chance of getting very close to the Martinstown figure. Mark Teesdale,Co Durham
  23. 160mm in 12 hrs to midday. Local meto said another 200mm possible. Could b one of wettest days on record for the UK. Mark Cumbria
