Large Hail accompanied by 60 mph gusts

Large Cumulo Nimbus with frequent snow and hail showers Temp 2C Wind North 24 mph 1027mb falling Incredible visibility as we can clearly see the mainland from Skye to Cape Wrath between showers!!
On 11 January 2005 we had the worst overnight winter storm in living memory with sustained wind speeds for over 8 hours of over 70 mph with a maximum gust recorded of 146 mph. There was widespread severe damge to property and loss of life and a severe tidal storm surge along the west coast of the Hebrides with 50 up to metres of the Machair washed away in places.
Same as every other day this winter Gusting 62 mph form SSW Incessant Bloody Rain Is it suprising everyone up here turns to the bottle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A bit quieter this morning after we were struck by lighting at 9:30pm last night, and what a bang it was phew!! so I think having lightning surge protection on your computers is a bloody good idea !!!! A quiet period after last evenings thunderstorms Heavy rain early this morning as the latest occluded front flew through. Now 20 mph SW wind with light showers
Just driven home from Stornoway, road covered with large hailstones and lots od lightning and loud thunder, strange that nothing showing much on the lightning detector, how strange ? maybe its not tuned for hebridean lightning !!
Two impressive Thunderstorms here thismorning, with a funnel cloud over the shore. It went as black as night for over 10 minutes Hail and Snow and gusts to 55 mph
