  1. Proper. Actual proper snow that you can legitimately call an ‘event’. Will there be more of this before the amber is out? Something has to notably change if so.
  2. Sharp burst of hail here in Horley for about 10 mins. Bit odd? Indicative of growing instability perhaps?
  3. Yeah I figured it to be more ice than hoar. Think I probably sit on the boundary of good/bad (and thus indifferent) - not sure which is worse! Tell you what though, I was very grateful for your late night updates last night.
  4. Current favoured spots continuing to be favoured. Feels a bit like what you’ve got, you keep, whether that’s good bad or indifferent.
  5. Leading to this Narnia Although now it’s ‘down ticked’. However, shows that DPs now the right side of marginal.
  6. An uptick in the intensity and flake size here in Horley, Gatwick. Settling on usual suspects (parked cars, grass, roofs). I’d say about 1cm. Something nice to look at now at least.
  7. Enjoy. This was 24th Jan in Gatwick, 3cms - more than enough for a fun two hours. And miles better than this snizzly, windy, horrible dross we have this morning. A bit of entrenched cold air and a nice warm front approaching from the SW falling with perfect timing into frosty ground. Gives you better snow too, that you can actually play with. Easterly’s are once in a blue moon spectacular but otherwise mostly hideous.
  8. Not worth a yellow for most. The warnings are so generic and catch all that they can’t really be accused of being wrong even when basically they are - these small local events aside, which skew the picture, because that’s all they are - highly localised. And even those, so far, I mean, c’mon... Even the real sweet spots so far are pretty standard. To cover themselves though, they take the warning up to Weds. Which masks the completely busted flush of a forecast for this past 12 hour period. If they can’t even get the nowcast right, what hope for Mon-Weds? Kold got it right after about five minutes!
  9. Not saying they shouldn’t say it, more that it’s indicative of this type of set up - and by extension therefore whether it justifies an amber warning at all. But this is a world where a forecast of 1-3 cms gets a yellow warning, so. However did we cope in the 20th century without the internet to tell us what’s not going to happen?
  10. ‘Some places likely to miss the showers altogether’. I wish I got paid for being so non-commital. Yeah, yeah, shower activity and all that.
  11. The only video or photo I’ve seen so far that looks remotely like anything that was forecast. Enjoy.
  12. Nothing doing in Horley, Gatwick, where the sun is peeping through the clouds, albeit tiny flakes blowing in the wind. MetO’s text overnighter (written five hours ago) continues to be the opposite of what’s on show - for now. Let’s hope they know something we can’t see.
  13. I’ll see you 40 and raise you 44! At least being a Fulham fan inures you against existential pain. Including snow pain ??
  14. Mark... fella. Clearly sarcasm aimed against the nonsensical doomongering before anything has even started.
