  1. Yes, just seen their video forecast. Quite different from the bbc/Meto group one. Met forecasting a bit of a washout. Who will be right I wonder?
  2. Boring cold day in the capital 4.2c. Hope the Atlantic breaks through next week and livens things up. Stuck in no man's land weather is tedious. Hopefully wet and wild from mid next week, but who knows!?
  3. Unless it's a raging Atlantic or a slug High Pressure they really can't get a handle on it. Especially if weather is coming from east or south east.
  4. Most of the rainfall totals are in for stations in and around the capital. Between 4.8 - 5.5 mm of rain fell yesterday. Quite surprising really. Looking like we need a very wet December to make up the shortfall. Currently 74% of annual rainfall. Fairly non-descript outlook from the met office, looks fairly boring either way.
  5. Must be something dripping into your rain guage mate. Here's the figures for LHR.
  6. Probably not that much if it had been snow to be honest. There's been about 3mm of rain in S Londonsince last night which would equate to about 2 inches of snow. Precipitation has been quite moderate so far.
  7. Cooler air already moving in from the south east. Hopefully clearer aswell
  8. Much colder next week with strong easterly winds, especially in the south. Snow, mostly on high ground.
  9. No doubt they ll soon be squabbling on the MAD thread if models aren't showing 2m of snow in the back garden of 27 Acacia Grove at 2.45pm on 2nd December etc. Certainly looking like a cold spell coming up mind. Personally I'm going to stick with Met updates from now on. They really have been very impressive for the last 12/18 months. Nice day today. 14.2c and sunny.
  10. Looking a bit lively over your way earlier for sure.True about the thunder aswell. We always do pretty well in London area during unsettled spells, whatever the season.
  11. Yes indeed, some awesome skyscapes this evening over the capital. Wonderful day for weather watchers. Had everything apart from snow. Proper autumn.... at last long last.
  12. Great day for weather. Torrential rain showers, thunder and lightning and great cloudscapes. Marvelous stuff.
  13. Been pouring down in SW London for last 90 mins. 6.4mm in last 24 hours from these heavy shower bands. Good top up for the soil and rivers. Some brightness moving in now but doesn't look like lasting long.
  14. Torrential rain again here. Very welcome. 18.3mm today. Much needed. More incoming from SW. Not a great night for fireworks. The park now very muddy underfoot. Proper autumn weather at last.
  15. Always good to see old YouTube vids of news coverage of proper exciting weather. Generally pretty boring weather in SE so it's good to see what it was like in the past when there must have been real weather events here.
  16. Goodness is it two years since the tram crash, terrible accident. RIP. Always remember how little coverage it got due to Trump being elected the same night. Bit nippy at 8.8c here. Looking lively later and over the weekend. Good weekend to dig over the allotment methinks. Love being out in the wet and wild weather.
  17. Disagree folks. They seem to be on to a more mobile situation with perhaps more southerly tracking low pressure systems, hence the snow in the North sentence. Like early last December for example.
  18. That's probably true, you probably get slightly more rainfall up there than down here in South London. SMDs are actually increasing down here despite some rain recently, 79% of long term average rainfall, according to Thames Water. The pervelance of clay soil doesn't help. So in short we need alot of rain to make up the shortfall. Last thing we need is a hose pipe ban next summer. It was a close call this year.
  19. Very much so. Been digging quite alot on the allotment recently and it's totally dry at about 10cm down. We have had 438mm rain this year in the capital so far , that's 77% of normal so we need a good dose of rain in Nov and Dec.
  20. Yes indeed, autumn can certainly throw up some proper interesting weather. Bright and sunny at 9.4c here just now. Looking good for replenishing rains over next few days, and pretty mild too. Proper autumn weather.
  21. A nice crop of heavy possibly thundery showers heading up towards the capital from the south west. Certainly a lively day out there now, proper weather.
  22. Yes indeed, and about time too. Freshens everything up, lots of leaves off the trees overnight too, proper autumn weather at last. Still quite mild though 12.3c. Hopefully some big showers later. Later in week looks wet and windy too.
