  1. Yeah, Kiev is fine, safe. Further east is a bit problematic. We ll be keeping an eye on the situation. Beer at 50p a pint which is a bonus. Bitter cold mind, they've had a very cold start to winter there with a lot of snow already.
  2. Very true that, but looking at the MET'S extended outlook, something is definitely brewing. I'm off to Kiev for Christmas so I dare say it will be rather chilly and snowy there.
  3. Looks like a very unsettled wet spell coming up. Some appreciable needed rainfall totals too, from looking at the fax charts. 21mm only so far this month in the capital, 38% of normal. Certainly some proper weather over next week or so. No snow mind. Still plenty of time for that.
  4. I've been doing a 'totally unscientific' study recently of the Met v BBC/Meto group and the latter have been consistently more accurate. Will be Interesting how they fare over the next 3 months of winter.
  5. Would'nt venture into the MAD thread just now, there's alot of angst and anger in there.
  6. Nope, afraid not, never was on the cards anyway... Well only on Christmas cards. Looks wet and wild from end of the week onwards. At least it ll be vaguely interesting unlike the next few days of zzzzzzness. 10c and cloudy in December is a poor show. Bring on the wind rain and gales. At least there will be some interest.
  7. Yeaaahh. Sunday's snow event back on again??? Models sniffing the coffee then.
  8. Yes indeed. Rain and wind look like the form horse. I had a look in the cold mad thread earlier. It was like a war zone in there. Gone tits up..... again.
  9. 12.2c in a damp dreary south west London. Unlikely to improve either in the short term.
  10. And what made late Feb/early March exceptional were the very low dew points. They have often been the undoing of a good snowy spell in the SE.
  11. Well looks like plenty of active weather on the way to pique a weather enthusiasts interest. Love a good wet stormy spell... or hopefully spells. Mother nature at her wildest.
  12. Cheers for the summary Tom. Looking a tad autumnal in the next few days to say the least. Nice sunny 8c jusy now. Soon be spring anyway now that the winter is over according to the MAD thread. Really is ridiculous nonsense. It would be like going home when your team are 1-0 down after ten minutes!! I can't quite understand their obsession with cold and heat on this site. Same in summer. If they can't see 35c and scorching sun or 30cm snow and a raging easterly then they are not happy. Plenty of other types of interesting weather.
  13. That would be Doris I would imagine. We may as well start naming them ourselves as every other bugger is at it.
  14. Must be great memories to have mate of those events. Sadly not much snow on the horizon but plenty of rain about to hit. Wind going to start getting up too.
  15. That the same model thread who up to a week ago were saying "at least the Atlantic is dead for the foreseeable''? Goodness me!
  16. Tom,was 2010 not an even more widespread white Christmas, even in parts of London? No snow fell on the day but there was snow on the ground from the previous week.It had turned a very slate grey colour at that stage mind. As happens in London.
  17. Very foggy here in SW19 . Quite unusual given the radar returns are showing quite active front just to our west. 4c. Last of the chilly morning for a while. Proper autumn weather on way now from the west/south west. Plenty of wind and rain. Mild temperatures too. Should reach 100% rainfall for November after a succession of drier than average months.
  18. Cheers for the summary Tom. Yes, looking like a lengthy spell of mild wet and rather windy weather on the way.The Atlantic was always going to spring in to life at some stage. Metoffice seem to have dropped the idea(for the time being) of a cold December.
  19. Agreed. The Metoffice got it totally wrong for this weekend. Bbc always went for rain staying well to south of London. Shouldn't be THAT difficult to forecast in this day and age.
  20. Perfect winter's day for the allotment. Digging out some weeds with mug of hot tea listening to the footy on the radio. Some rain about too. Looks like the Atlantic kicking into gear from Tuesday for several weeks. Plenty of wind and rain. All the talk of a bitter cold easterly spell of weather gone for a burton. Only November still, plenty of time yet.
  21. Yes, just seen their video forecast. Quite different from the bbc/Meto group one. Met forecasting a bit of a washout. Who will be right I wonder?
