Windows open to let heat in, in October. Bizarre.

High of 20C was comfy in the sun even with the wind. Pushed the indoor temp back up to a more comfortable 19C.

Lightning really picking up across England now, don't remember much being made of this.

Loving the ECM tonight. Don't know why but the older I get the more I just don't have time for cold weather unless it's snow, I guess too many snowless/near snowless winters recently have just taken the excitement out of winter. Hoping for 20C+ until at least mid November tbh.

If we go by which 3 month block of days is the warmest on average I'd say summer is 10th June - 10th September. Halfway house between metrological and astronomical summer.

6 minutes ago, I remember Atlantic 252 said:
for a minute, I thought you were in Burton
Would need a few more layers and an umbrella for that.

Outside enjoying dinner and a beer being treated to a brilliant distant light show. Quite rare for Cyprus to have thunderstorms as early as August.
-
Distant storms here. The country has been hit by a few thunderstorms yesterday and today.

Definitely picked the right time to go abroad, looks absolutely dreadful in the UK.

22C sunny spells bang average but probably one of the top 5 days of July/August this year.

Shocking downgrades yet again. Why do they keep overestimating the strength of high pressure builds in the 7-10 day range.

Christ that 18z couldn't get any better, 2nd year in a row I miss an epic August heatwave. Might catch the first couple of days before flying on Saturday.

26C and been mostly clear all day I've missed this

I'm away from the 19th so you can have full confidence these settled charts for later this month are guaranteed to be true.

Lovely start today already 23C. All windows open to allow as much heat in as possible during our rationed one summer day per month.

Sunny spells 21C. Finally, finally for the first time in weeks it's actually comfortable and pleasant.

ECM keeps the 1015hpa line in England, central and Southern England should at least see sunny spells and the occasional shower with average temps after Friday. Not perfect but beggars can't be choosers after July.

House temperature of 18.3C, not seen that since May. Warmest week of the year on average supposedly.
Edit: thanks for moving to right place, I got the threads mixed up.

11C at midday that has to be a record.

Get Saturday out the way and other than being 3-4C below average Sunday and Monday aren't looking too bad before the warmup.

Fair point, to a degree. But why this desire for extremes? How about some 'normal' English summer weather, sunny and mid-20s...? It seems that we either have teens or 30+...
To be fair it's showing mid twenties for most with high twenties in the Southeast, but I get the one extreme to another is annoying. I would also gladly have weeks of mid twenties.

I've been looking forward to this warm spell for ages, so personally I'm happy there were people ready to challenge the absolute rubbish that was being spewed on the model thread about the warm spell being on a knife edge or a one day wonder.
