Red warning has to come out in the next few hours, I feel.
I'm sure that someone mentioned that they usually update just before midday.
Especially in some areas, where the risk is quite high does warrant a red warning (even if models slightly diverge)

No it isn't.
I think you should take a break from this thread and stop deliberately setting out to be annoying? You're not following the weather but some other motivation which you've been doing for the last 36 hours.
Hope you have a nice summer in Cornwall.
It depends on the area, which you didn't even quote.
Yes it's a downgrade at that current time for most areas but looking at the south west, there's unfortunately been a upgrade for wind gusts.
What has been a fact for almost certainly is that closer the timeframe the wind gusts/speeds are downgraded/watered down.
If that's isn't the case this time around that I fully admit that I was in the wrong.
I apologize that you find my posts annoying but I'm simply giving my opinion on the current weather.
Have a good day sir.

GFS: Current run
ICON: Previous run
UKV: Previous run
Like I said I'm not generalising the whole of the UK when I say there has been a slight downgrade (some areas have suffered the complete opposite) however most models for MY area have downtrended ever so slightly (5-8mph).
Definitely a downgrade, though GFS does move the strongest winds to the far South West.

Why am I only forecast 60mph gusts from the beeb, on the coast, quarter mile from the sea...?
Same, 66mph where I am.

Your post is ageing well?
Didn't age like fine wine .
Good chance of a red warning here?

Never mind. Another yawnfest of a winter. Roll on summer. At least its odds on for sunny weather in this part of the country, at least for a few weeks. I'm off, good night and God bless. I will pop back in for the summer
Don't worry I'm sure I see a wheelie bin or two going down the road. It just be a tad breezy here and nothing more at this rate.

GFS creeps north *again* surprise surprise.
At this rate it will be an ordinary windy day on the Dorset coast. *Yawn*
Same here, as I said it's always happens down here.

Are you sure that's the right postcode, Skullz?
My bad, should of said that the postcode was PL25 which is in the St Austell Area.

NO! Quite the reverse, it’s climbing down from its own nonsense and representing the storm proper!
Oh sorry, I thought the other photo was the 12z run.

BBC Weather, St Austell which is the nearest town has wind speeds gusts of 83mph, yet the postcode is 64mph...

I know we're all weather enthusiasts on here - but I'd really like to wake up to a downgrade in the morning.
If this hits like some of the models are showing then there is going to be a lot of disruption, damage and probably even death for a few unfortunate people.
From what I have seen this evening, the south west has seen a slight downgrade in terms of wind speeds.
I would even go to say that from this morning's it's looks just a tad less now.

The models ARE in agreement, about as good agreement as I've ever seen to be honest when it comes to these type of systems.
Not a single model goes below 75mph winds for the south, and quite a few are significantly stronger.
Are they gusts or sustained winds?
If it's still like that tomorrow, I start to prepare and such.
30 minutes ago, stripeyfox said:I think most of them are broadly in agreement though?
I think there's still some details to be sorted, though models have the tendency to downgrade theses storms in my area.

So, been seeing about this storm and looking at it briefly there's definitely some concern but I wouldn't go and say it's one of the worst storms.
Most likely downgrade before hand so not worried at the moment.

January was absolutely awful for winter hopes, hopefully February might be a bit better?

Good morning, quite nice here, about 8c and sightly overcast at times, sun is trying to make itself known.

Watching Sky News, shows a video of snow falling in Athens.
Like we are the only country in the northern hemisphere that doesn't get snow
