Sadly, we're going to be without rain for at least the first half of August, and I doubt we'll get anything significant for the entire month.

I can only imagine that risk of wildfires starting is going to be high for quite some time this month.

We can only hope in the coming months we get increased rainfall or else we are in trouble.

It is - but I wouldn't worry about Heathrow. On the UKV there are plenty of places forecast to be hotter than there today anyway:

39c at Hawarden on that map is the hottest I can see. Could be a repeat of yesterday.

Quite lucky living in the southern parts of Cornwall.

Less excitement this morning with the models showing less extreme scenarios. I don't think something more extreme can be ruled out yet though by any means. As many have observed, the models often trend away from a particular scenario only to pick it up again nearer to the time.

We just happened to have several extreme op runs that were near the top of the ensembles. It will be interesting to see where this morning's runs sit and if they are below the mean for Sunday/Monday- I wouldn't be surprised if they are.

I was thinking the same earlier this morning.

Models are still going for a hot spell over the weekend and into next week but thankfully have trended away from the extreme heat being showed just a day or so ago.

    This is astonishing and scary.

Indeed, on one hand it's incredible what weather can do.

I have seen that models have picked this trend here and there.

However it's also dangerous especially seeing these temperatures for our area.

I would hope that this gets downgraded or what ever term would you like to use.

It's been better for me after the weekend rain.  Friday was horrendous.

My eyes were quite itchy that very day, absolutely awful.

Thankfully the symptoms have eased greatly but the pollen is set to remain very high to high for the next few days.

Whilst April this year was dry, unlike the previous two Aprils it wasn't expcetionally so as we did have a few showery days during the first half of the month. For my neck of the woods at least, it was only really from around Easter onwards that it became dry. Up until then it was a bit of a mixed bag.

Overall, a pleasant April with some nice sunny days and a few showery ones here and there early on.

Agreed, it was quite a nice month.

Here it was generally dry with some showers here and there, but I did enjoyed having a sunbathe here and there ☀️.

    Will May be different?
