  1. Oh gosh.. Caravan? Hayling island? Hmm suspect you may want to either go back home or find a nice local b n b tomorrow.
  2. Echo that cold fingers.. The sea maybe impressive and feel exilarating but there will be all sorts flying about.. Watch on webcam. It really isn't a safe place to go during a storm.
  3. . Yep GTLTW most councils now have contractors on standby and been told to fasten down road works etc. I live near Manor Park now which is slightly up the hill.. I suspect am going to hear this! If it does track further south to France at least the warnings have been out. Better to be safe than sorry. I have been posting the updates/warnings from netweather on Facebook. Friends now know I don't post sensationalised media reports and if I post netweather ones to take heed! Xx
  4. Thanks Raiden.. Good idea. Although the older generation I have found don't seem to be scared! It is the younger.. All the elder generation are know say ah it will be a breeze.. Font forget they have lived through far worse weather and a world war so you can kinda get their chilled approach!
  5. Based on all the discussions this morning and preceding days hope netweather the site is readr for more traffic tomorrow ... I feel all eyes will be on the discussion thread and model outputs.. Maybe even some newbies. I do wonder even if the isobars are tightly packed over Uk how much the influence of our land topography is taken into the models.. Ie it does tend to dissipate or reduce the wind speeds across uk. I think our forecasts do take that into account though don't they?
  6. Just got back from a long drive from the south coast. The VMSs on the M25 are up warning of strong gales Sunday Monday .. Those went up before we had that snow event last year. Local authorities have had their warnings on the south coast so contractors are on alert. The thing that struck me though most tonight was generally how very mild it is tonight and there is a lovely albeit a little gusty breeze tonight. It really is quite lovely out there! Hoping though that whatever happens on Sunday into Monday people take heed. Forewarned is prearmed ...(is it that way around?). But tomorrow I would like to know more how far inland it could get. Id like to warn my friends that this time for those horses that do still stay out at night.. Ought to on this occasion be brought in. ....
  7. Well said.. It also isn't good seamanship. Not even the most experienced seadog would consider a trip. The shipping forecast is there for a reason. Storm force onwards is a warning to all sea vessels. It isn't a bit of romantic poetry. There's a sea saying "a big ship will always be a small boat in a big sea" .... Just stay in the harbour and a have a pint instead.
  8. Another pulse on its way and due to visit Newbury soon... Haven't heard anything yet so I think this will just be rain.
  9. Wow some more impressive lightning south followed closely by a rumble must be close.....
  10. I can see lightning now to the south of me. Must be that line near Winchester. Round 2 for us I wonder? Oh and here comes more rain....
  11. Echo that GTLTW thunderstorm over Newbury some good old rumbles and sporadic torrential pours.. Lightning. Think though it is passing north and east of us though,,,? What do you think?Wow torrential now!
  12. What you saw soup outside the kitchen window? Wow that was some storm...
  13. And all over.. Skies clearing to the west. Thinking about it it was pretty warm last night.
  14. At parents in Chichester and just work up about ten mins ago to thunder... Looked out and the sky west was black. Cat wanted to go out for its morning stroll so off she went.. Five mins later the wind squall up she runs back in and the rain starts! It is currently pouring down and blowing a hooley still! ....
  15. radar appears to show the squall band over us now although I was sure it passed nearly 3/4 hr ago? Looking particularly grey and ominous out there do it could just be on way out. Very quiet ATM too and I don't know if it just me but it doesn't feel that cold as I was expecting. Maybe I am acclimatising ....
  16. Hello all squall just past through here in Newbury but short n sweet so prob not as intense as other places. All quiet now just can't get over how dark it it... Hate it. Ps anyone else having problems getting into regional thread? It has an error measage always says server too busy ....... ?
  17. By the way.. What has happened when you reply to a post.. It mixes it all up! GTLTW had the same issue I see..
  18. Wasn't it just.. So lovely. Will miss that warmth for 6 months now of the models do what they are now hinting at.. Damn you Hp. But you say October 6th .... I do believe it was the same around 2011. I remember why well.. ( think it was the 6th or 4th .. May have been 28th.. But then temps were up to 28 degrees that day.. )
  19. Hmm dry and humid here.. Have any of you checked your temp and humidity readings.... Think mine was something like near or just over 20 degrees.. Both of them.. I wondered why I had condensation on the outside (not inside) of my windows... And it wasn't rain! Couldn't work it out for a second. ... And no the heating hasn't been on. Onto the storms.. Had friends on Facebook reporting cracking noisy thunderstorms out south west....... Hmmm... Not fair.
  20. should have had the luck of the irish today...or not as the case maybe..although I suspect some maybe pleased they misssed this weather coming through.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-24390743
  21. was something supposed to happen today? ...been working at home, thought i think it went a little dark .but just ignored it and kept working head into computer and then just raised my head up and looked outside now and well the patio is dry and the sun is shining...did I miss something..if there was a something? ..... seems like it has been a pleasant day by accounts of now?
  22. So for those on mobile will not have a clue who you used to be.. Who was Seasonal weather?
