  1. Have a look at the past radar William....fliping evil it was... ere we go look at the readings around the 730pm mark yesterday......here on these links - about 24mm hourly ppn... .http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IWESTBER2&month=9&day=17&year=2013 http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=ITHATCHA1&month=9&day=17&year=2013
  2. Wow was driving in that squall line as it passed over Newbury.. That was insane amount of rain.. Needless to say there was a bit of flash flooding.
  3. A mix bag if a day. Lovely and sunny first thing, and a little chilly ( apparently we went down to 4 degrees last night) , then it clouded over.. But curious looking clouds which the horse and I stopped to admire on our ride out)- they did seem to show alot of instability... Then the breeze picked up but nothing really of significance.. A little bit of rain and the winds continued all afternoon. Not sure though what's in store tonight.. Would be interesting to know if those temps will drop again. 4 degrees is quite low isn't it for September?
  4. here it is approaching newbury...this photo was taken about 20 mins ago. Incidentally just noticed to the south there seems to be another anvil springing up next to this one....if that makes sense.
  5. yep, that passed over newbury with a couple of decent rumbles and a down pour...
  6. hey radar over Salisbury is looking pretty damn potent....anyone can confirm the situation on the ground?
  7. Had a nice Thunderstorm just pass over Newbury about half an hour ago. Two decent rumbles - didnt see any lightning though and a good down pour. The rumble took me by surprise! Thought it was a plane or loud motorbike then I realised the sky was black and just got the washing in time!
  8. Anyone taken a glance at the radar... There is a distinct line of cells popping up across south east .. Perfect for a join the dots game Anyone taken a glance at the radar... There is a distinct line of cells popping up across south east .. Perfect for a join the dots game
  9. Two cells popping up east and south of Newbury as suggested on radar. Here is a photo of one to the east I can see ...
  10. Stuck out on middle of a field the sky looked ever so threatening all day..a little drissle and a few stronger spots when it looked evil above. North of us looked like it was getting a kicking.. We got off lightly thank goodness... But really where were the downpours ... Was it north of reading way? Anyone? ...
  11. Thanks GTLTW you star. Oh well wellies it is ... Think we may have more rain then by what you say than Newton poppleford which is real apparently. I want to go there.. Love the name. My friend is eventing today so am helping her. Wet ground as long as it doesn't get churned up is a good thing and ill just have to be prepared with the waterproofs... Although I only have winter ones so I could roast... Have a good day now.. No problem at all. It is a great name. No problem at all. It is a great name.
  12. Pardon me for asking William but is Newton poppleford a real place? It sounds so very Miss Marple.. Very charming if you aren't pulling our leg and its moderate rain does exist.
  13. Never mind William GTLTW when is anything remotely heavy coming our way.. Please don't say tomorrow morning.. I am in the middle of a large firld tomorrow morn so hoping all the rain does its stuff tonight... Although I think ill be disappointed...
  14. Hmmm...just read this post on model discussion thread..... ... interesting times for tonight and tomoz it seems Good post though by Frosty http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/77405-model-output-discussion-18z-280713/?p=2773757
  15. OK y'all now come on - Are we in for a lot of rain tomorrow morning? I am thinking Reading area as I will stuck in a field in the morning and I dont particularly fancy being drenched....no Not Reading Festival before you all ask.. on that subject looking out of the office window just now I think they are all due for a wee shower in about 5 mins...I can see the rain stream approach..
  16. Perfect night to see them... Shame I can't keep my eyes open. So sleepy....
  17. Lovely sun here with a few clouds in Newbury and seems to be set that way for the rest of the day.. Does anyone know if those storms were over Gatcombe horse trials over last half hour or so.. On the live results page seems a few had withdrawn on one section making me think it wasn't the best conditions to do the Xc phase...
  18. Which blitzortung app you got? Mine doesn't have alarm settings?.... Radar tells me though a band is creeping up to Newbury.. Haven't heard any rumbles so it may just be a shower. Don't forget those raincoats peeps when you go to work. My friend has been caught out doing her horses in Wokingham this morn... Shorts n tee shirts n caught in a hefty shower ... Oh dear I did warn!
  19. Please not more showers...not until my roof is fixed! BTW on the temps front I see some parts of Surrey I think have hit 34...I am sure that is what I saw. A warm 30.9 in reading ATM, and a breeze too which is interesting.
  20. There's torrential and there's torrential... It is bucketing down ATM again... Unbelievable...
  21. One bit of thunder one bit of lightning.. And torrential rain... I think my landlord is really going to regret not fixing the leak today... Alot worse and drips steaming through three areas. The wall and ceiling is saturated. Yes the sky looked amazing ... A bright orange when it heaved down... Yes that 12 mm is in my living room! I should measure what is in the bucket!! Lol
  22. Where's GTLTW? ..... That group of cells south west of us is getting very close... Have you looked outside? And my leak in my ceiling still isn't fixed....yikes...
