  1. ola Jonesye.. Yep true - although i am happy if that WSW waits abit - Rain is leaking through my ceiling at the mo at home ...which I discovered more last night as it poured through. So until it is fixed please! ......you dont mind do you waiting a little bit? It should be done by 4pm then WSW go for it...or abit before so the landlord can see it pouring through!
  2. Reading does by south Reading only....I am in Caversham ATM and it is skirting to the east.....
  3. Welcome aboard piggy place! Enjoy all the posts and posting!
  4. Soo anyone that band north Salisbury.... What is the direction of travel.... North or northwest? .... Please someone say north!
  5. Ok I wish I hadn't written that post... Wondered what the noise behind me as I posted.. Got rain pouring through the ceiling... . Looks like a break in the gutter....SO I am even more focused on the next lot of heavy rain to pass through..... Tomorrow eve? Hope they fix it tomorrow!! Thankfully not my place...
  6. It's here in Newbury too .. Nice bit of downpour this afternoon and eve to soften up and quench the ground... Lovely.
  7. Here we go this is the cell over Newbury although it appears to be going slightly to the west of us...I doubt the line at Salisbury will get to us... Again no sferics
  8. Hi all, been following the thread this morning and watching those cells develop over the south coast. That one showing slightly south of Newbury on the radar now has just this second passed over Newbury.. Moderate rain, with some decent gusts but no electrical activity... Wondering if that one over Salisbury will make more of an entrance to its arrival. It is great too feel alot cooler. I can finally sleep these days! ( including a long spell this avo..... Oops ) .....
  9. Well last night we certainly did her heavy rain and it was torrential for a bit warranting I believe a warning considering we have had no rain for about 3 weeks. In autumn / winter we probably wouldn't have thought twice about seeing that amount of rain... Nor indeed the wash out that was last summer. I was under a gazebo at a BBQ and believe me it was at first though oh ok this is heavy.. We can handle to we better get inside before the gazebo collapses. So it was hefty with some lighting flung in for good measure The only downside is the met office and BBC have got the timing wrong Friday pm and yes I do accept the we are an island reason for some difficulties but it was just a little careless when even I looked on the radar that night shortly after the BBC announced the weekend forecast and it was pretty damn clear to query what system? I get the feeling that most at the met clear off home early on a Friday and don't do Friday evening or evenings in the week work just like a fair few government offices ( not all, but a fair few) .. As for today ill make my own judgement. Humid and dry. A threat of storms which pass over but nothing
  10. If this has been posted already but estofex currently has that system over biscay as level 2.... Flipping eck. http://estofex.org/cgi-bin/polygon/showforecast.cgi?text=yes
  11. How bazaar was that.. Just this second clicked in the link which took me to a post by Cheese... Just at that moment the food programme is focusing on the benefits of ....... Yes Cheese... Sorry I just had to share even though off topic.Am kinda of curious about the rain forecast on summer. In a dilemma really. Hoping yes hoping that it remains slightly west and we get the full deluge. But also concerned as the rain last night has seeped through my living room wall and I have a BBQ too. Any changes from this morn on the model runs? Still further west? Are we in for a show?
  12. How ironic.. Not so long ago we were looking to find an end in sight of the constant rain.. Oh how fickle we Brits are .... now we are looking to find an end in sight of constant dryness.. I never ever thought I'd see the day where we were radar watching for the wet stuff.... And not snow this time!
  13. Yep seems to be a vacuum over south central. Everywhere else has something going on according to the radar. Meanwhile in Newbury it is still incredibly warm and humid with the sun coming out... The only rumble I hear is a plane
  14. Train pulling out of thatcham and I can see that system... Some nearer producing rain wall... I did see a flicker too of lightning..
  15. Hey chaps I have heard that the reason we have a problem with the signals and hence a delay is cos of lightning strike on the line at Pewsey? What do you reckon? Tallies with the storm cell passing over that area?
  16. Stuck on a packed very delayed train at Reading.... Problems at Newbury signals and it is mayhem. No ac!! Arghh. Still got a chance to take a photo outside the station? Thunderstorm brewing per chance?
  17. woo hooo just had this email alert from isle of wight thunderstorm alert. 18. Thanks GTLW a nice sweaty eve for me then when I get home (in the nice air con office atm......Hmm nearer dawn heh? - that would be cool. If I am up early as I have tended to be cos of the warm I may well do that. Better tell my friend though to think twice about riding tomorrow morning.....
  19. Hey GTLTW - any signs of the Altocumulus Castellanus field visible near Newbury? until Choniomanics post in the convective thread I never knew about these little beauties... Think I may look for a high vantage point near the town later tonight on way home? Any suggestions?
  20. Oh eck our humitidy is going up by the second... nearing 60% like some others on here.. pphewwweeehttp://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:00000.18.03658 According to wikipedia we are approaching the "extreme caution category of the heat index table... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_index Extreme caution: heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible. Continuing activity could result in heat stroke
  21. Heathrow reaching 31 degrees in the last hour (may have gone higher since) and pressure falling across the UK. http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/77272-south-westcentral-southern-regional-discussion-discussion-16th-july-2013-onwards/page-14 Bit annoyed if the cells arrive in the dark...want to see the storm arrive - much more dramatic and exciting...
  22. Nothing here over Newbury so I suspect a very humid day for us here. Think though maybe a shower developing over Reading so wonder if this develops further so I can get distracted out of the office window...:-)
  23. Cell south of Reading seems to be not moving and weakening.....
  24. I can see the cells south of Reading from my window here in Newbury.. Slight breeze picked up in last ten mins... Please I hope bringing it this way... Stifling here... Pheweeeee.
  25. Approaching Reading station from the north west there is definite c.n. storm cloud. I'd say it was south east of Reading so tallying with reports and posts earlier.. In non technical assessment however I can report it is flipping hot n humid out there... Worse than yesterday ..... Pheweeee ....
