  1. Nice wee blast of warmth for us this week! I'm going for 27C somewhere in the Central Belt or the borders, just hope to God we join in with the fireworks in the breakdown!
  2. Well I watched the front explode, pass over my house, and disappear with nothing but some heavy rain. It's amazing that there's no lightning with the intensity of the precipitation, definitely looked like lightning wasn't too far away when it was over me.
  3. Had about 3 near misses with big cells in the last few days, so frustrating! Hoping this front moving in now delivers something other than 30 seconds of moderate rain...
  4. Lovely day today! 18C with wall to wall sunshine and a light breeze, happy days
  5. The Beeb definitely less "confident" if you will on a very warm spell next week. Their latest long range forecast only showed temperatures reaching 16/17C in the midlands, and Jay Wynne mentioned maybe around 20C in the south. This still is an improvement from this week's cool spell, but it really isn't as beefy as it was say 24 hours ago. Still lots of time for change, we'll see how the models handle it.
  6. Ahh yes, I was thinking it was gonna be something like that. Thank you!
  7. You mention this being "worrying from a broader climate perspective". Could you elaborate on that? Not asking for a giant paragraph btw
  8. Pretty pleased with the snow that I got from Doris, about 8-10cm in the end! Took this picture before I left for school, walking was bloody difficult!
  9. Got about 8-10cm in the end up, pretty good day at the office if you ask me! Could be another spell of snow next weekend...?
  10. Light rain here currently, but it looks a little sleety to the anticipating eye. Some speckles of green on the radar on the higher parts of Western Scotland and the Southern Uplands. BRING IT ON! Also nice to see the Amber Warning being stretched towards me more, happy days!
  11. This is great animation of the possible snow for Central and Southern Scotland! Again, it goes for a blob to the W/SW of Glasgow giving 15-20cm. Time will tell...
  12. The rain on the current radar looks a bit early to me, anyone else?
  13. SLAP BANG OVER ME!! Come on, Inverclyde deserves this!!
  14. Tomorrow's looking fun! I'm not too far from the amber warning area so no one else give up hope just yet if you're in my position! I distinctly remember the breakdown in March 2013, when I was forecast to get 10cm, and ended up with almost more than what was forecast for the amber area! I've been successful in these situations before, I just hope it doesn't rain too much before the snow starts. Dying for at least 10cm, please god!
  15. All the talk so far has mostly been about the wind, but the snow that I might get looks impressive. BBC say 5-10cm but you can usually add another inch and a bit to the actual total... Bring it on! Windspeeds look dangerous for you folk in central England, but wouldn't be as bad if it was up here in Scotland. Strange to think that tbh...
  16. Last year was pretty decent here considering the usual non-events we get, especially that plume destabilization that gave an amazing light show nonstop for about an hour, which was followed by another storm the following morning. Then around a week later came the best direct hit I've ever experienced: frequent lightning, loud thunder, torrential rain and extremely strong winds (convinced there was a rotation around due to the major swings in wind direction at one point, although I'm open to explanation if I'm wrong). THEN, around November time came a smallish storm that wasn't anything special, but it delivered the closest lightning strike I remember, must've been within 20/30 metres of me at the window . All of this happened at night so you can imagine how excited I was! Really hoping for more days like those this year, because my Dad always says storms nowadays are nothing like they used to be in the 70s/80s and I really want him to say "aye that was just like back in the day when me and my mates used to hang oot the windy during the storms like dafties"
  17. Could be a few thundery showers this time tomorrow, working their way up the western side of the UK. Nothing exciting but the season is coming!!
  18. Ahh March 2012, what a month! March is always an interesting month with regards to model watching, can give some mad charts! Considering the signal for blocking coming from the BBC's Weather for the Week Ahead Forecast for February's end, a March 2012 or 2013 scenario may not be out of the question.
  19. Picture from the back garden, see if I'll get more later... Is that even a question!
  20. About 3/4cm of snow currently with it still falling as we speak
  21. Apparently its 5C currently but I can tell you its not! Feels more like this morning when it was below zero, whats going on?!
  22. Snow is lying here now, although its barely a centimeter so far! The showers are pretty beefy too.
  23. Currently snowing as we speak, had a few snow showers already but just about a degree too mild for it to properly settle. Looks like I'm in for a good covering if everything falls into place
  24. Well Port Glasgow, Inverclyde sort of had a white Christmas! A sleety snow shower was flew past so I'm taking that!!
  25. Has a gust of maybe 60mph around 10:30am this morning, but other than that it's been a bog standard gale here. The wind is beginning to really pick up now though, the worst of Barbara is upon us!!
