  1. That 'kink' in the path to turn it more northerly looks odd to me, especially with the strength of the storm but who knows really.
  2. Met Office have issued a yellow warning for wind on Tuesday, focused on Central Scotland stretching down to Northern England, and of course Northern Ireland. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/mobile/warnings/uk
  3. Has there really been a shift west? The track seems to be closer to Scotland?
  4. Would greater strength push it further east? In terms of forcing the euro high.
  5. My God I'd love 110mph to hit here! Although I'd hate it at the same time...
  6. I don't like this run at all, further away than it was before from my part...
  7. ECM: GEM: GFS: UKMO (around the same time): GFS really is on its own in this selection of models, with the rest going for a more direct hit on the UK. Yes the winds are weaker with Ophelia further east, but still significant with 80mph+ looking likely. The eastward corrections are definitely more exciting.
  8. It will need to sustain characteristics of a hurricane, but by the time it arrives in Ireland it won't have those. A storm can have hurricane force winds and not be a hurricane, like most winter storms the UK experiences.
  9. Ooooo Ophelia is looking interesting... Still miles off, but considering she's stronger than forecast already, anything could happen! Watching and waiting for every run
  10. The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for wind for Western parts of the UK. I find that really interesting considering it's forecast to stay pretty much out in the Atlantic. They mention the chance of 80mph gusts, so do they know something we don't?? https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/mobile/warnings/uk
  11. All I need is two dry days to do the last cut of the grass but the models aren't delivering!
  12. I'll go for 9.3C... An average to slightly cooler start, with a gradual cooling thereafter due to that lovely scandi high edging over!
  13. Was raining for a few hours this evening but nothing special, no wind either as expected. God I can't wait for Atlantic storms this year, they better deliver!!
  14. Been waiting on them to name Aileen since yesterday. Looks like I'm getting the rain while you all enjoy the wind!
  15. The next 2 weeks look rather changeable in my area if you ask me...
  16. Quite concerned for my relatives that live in New Jersey. Some of them lost everything from Sandy a few years back and I couldn't imagine how it would feel losing everything once again...
  17. I checked Accuweather this morning and they showed Irma as a strong tropical storm. I came on not that long ago to check if it was a hurricane yet and it's already a category 3!! That's some explosive development... Quite amazing but scary at the same time. Models going for another US hit, and if it's already a major storm this far out in the Atlantic then God help whoever is in her path. If conditions are right there's the chance for 170mph+ gusts... Don't want to think of the damage that would cause in the poorer Caribbean countries.
  18. Finally got my first storm of the season! Around 4am it all began, with tropical rain and lots of close lightning and booming thunder!
