  1. Heavy snow in Canterbury at the moment, has been snowing for 20 minutes no stop. Roads are like skating rinks. About 5 - 8 cm of laying snow ATM more to come.
  2. Canterbury Had about 20 - 30 minutes of snow from around 8.20 - 8.50 left a nice little covering on top of some " icing sugar " from the previous night.
  3. Very surprised to wake upto another light dusting. Roads are diabolical outside
  4. In Canterbury 2-3cm max. That was on top of my car , much less on the roads and paths
  5. Canterbury snowing heavily , wet snow , no laying atm 0.6C
  6. Canterbury Heavy snow now for about 45 minutes , everything is white, big flakes.
  7. For canterbury I go for 8cm before it rains and melts
  8. If the various foreign based radars are to be believed the serious snow should start in some parts of East Anglia around 10:30 and in Kent an hour later. I reckon Norwich , Great Yarmouth , Cromer area to bit hit first.
  9. Too true , about the marginal events ,problem is it can get it wrong boths ways. In this occasion though if it is wrong it is likely to be on the side of more snow and less rain. Although this is memory lane territory I really can remember my parents getting the shovels and brooms indoors before heavy snow and having to use them to dig the snow away from the doors and gates in order to open them, so it is genuine good advice to all. Also if travelling keep 3 bits of old carpet and a blanket in your boot... one to kneel on if you have to change a tyre, 2 for the front / back tyres to get grip if you get stuck...and the blanket in case the carpet idea is rubbish.
  10. The BBC forecast is as expected somewhat non descript as this event will be so hard to predict right down to the wire. The GFS 18z model still shows snow turning to rain for the SE corner for Sunday through to Monday. Unless you can be bothered to stay up all Sunday night / Monday morning on lamppost watch it is going to be a go to bed , hopefully wake up with the eary silence and slightly too light ambient light caused by thick laying snow as happened here 3 - 4 years back... Put it this way .. I am getting the shovel and the broom in doors. No point them being in the shed if the snow gets above 4 inches as you won't be able to open the door to get them out!
  11. It is certainly the most exciting time for a few years. Nobody should lose hope or get over excited. Where I live the models show anything from 5cm of snow from mid Sunday to mid Monday turning to rain. On the other hand that predicted rain just might fall as snow in which case we are on for a pasting the likes of which haven't been seen for 22 ish years. Just wait and see, have fun, stay safe and if it turns nasty take care of those around you.
