  1. few tiddly tiny bits of snow on ground and wheelie bin this morning, sky now dark and a mixture of sleet /rain/snow. Seems to be snow in challock/ molash area which is just that bit higher up.. As said above with this sort of streamer /clipper real time /radar watch is the best and most reliable technique...
  2. Have to say that it is the first time in ages that te charts have shown on / off snow almost continually for a week , starting anytime Sunday for the SE corner. Even if it downgrades by 50% , something should still happen , Sunday isn't FI status so let's see this one out.
  3. Been snowing on and off since around 11.00 AM not sticking due to the pesky rain earlier and it is very wet snow anyway
  4. Well in Canterbury the rain /mizzle/ sleet is now predominantly wet snow.. will take what I can get, blasted chilly on the bike mind you.
  5. Agree with Ben, odd period of heavy big flakes followed by rain, but temperature is dropping away in Canterbury, seem to be right on the snow/rain border.
  6. Felt bitter cold today on my boxing day bike ride to burn off the Christmas lunch, looks like an outside chance of a bit of snow action for tomorrow , so heres looking forward to that as it shouldn't prove disruptive .
  7. Looks like a wet and mild Christmas, think there is some hope around 27th of a colder spell but even that will be transitory in my opinion, however the Grebes haven't flown yet etc etc so plenty of time for another snowy spell, has snowed on 4 separate days here so far this winter , and one day of laying snow, which is better than anything last year or the year before..
  8. The little snow showers on the radar seem to be appearing out of nothing, Temperature had dipped to around 0.5 - 0.8 C , has risen a bit to 1.4 degrees, Moister air must be on the way.
  9. Roads seem to be fine, not really very much snow fell just a bit which melted instantly
  10. Snow band is still heading SE, looks like it turned to rain over London , to be expected with the warming effect, as it is -3 outside atm, may go back to snow, if it reaches here, ( Canterbury )
  11. Still really warm here at almost 15C , expect a cool down soon, still very windy..
  12. Got to think that any event for the SE corner would be very marginal indeed, although with the winds from the West , while there won't be so much ppt it should reduce the coastal warming that often limits the extent of any snow.
  13. Had to happen DM publishes it's first 3 week Arctic freeze headline, telling everyone we have run out of grit..
  14. Some kind of storm clouds brewing up SW of Ashford (kent ) by looks of radar
  15. Despite almost 8 hours of constant snow, we have the massive accumulation of at least 1cm. Ok better than the last 3 years ,2nd period of laying snow. Still snowing at around 1C.
  16. wow got down to -2C last night,,, the over optimistic met office had us at +5 for this time of day and is still sub zero with a frost..
  17. Mixture of light snow, frozen rain and hail has left the roads like an ice rink in canterbury
  18. -1.4 at the moment , no where near as cold as first part of week but first frost for a couple of days , even so still ice and snowmen sticking around from last week
  19. First non freezing night in ages 1.9C almost tropical compared to last 8 - 8 days.
  20. Got down to -8.3 in the Canterbury freezer last night... -5.3 now..
  21. -4.7 in the Canterbury freezer already, much colder than previous nights at this time, got to think that the serious cold of the night time temperatures has cooled the ground to a considerable extent which is probably adding to the cold air flooding in from continental europe..
  22. Another night in the ice box that is Canterbury, -7.3 at the moment
