  1. https://www.snow-forecast.com/overviews/tips_full NTRODUCTION It has been one of the snowiest weeks of the season so far in the Alps with several resorts reporting more than a metre of snowfall in the past seven days, and even where they have not had that much, most have had good snowfalls. The snow has kept falling almost every day, with just a weekend lull when temperatures also got rather warm, before the next storm clouds moved in. Snow past week Snow next 3 days Snow Days 4-6 Resort Forecasts Meribel (2200m Mid Station) Kitzbuhel (1400m Mid Station)
  2. As per above, I have merged the scores for Shillitocet and Shillitocettwo. It has no real impact in the rankings and the top 30 are uneffected, but here are the slightly revised figures for completeness. Feb 2020 CET.xlsx
  3. Excel file here - Remember there remains the issue of file name, if you download it and rename as .XLSX, the file will load correctly into Excel. Feb 20 CET.xlsx February 2020 Top 10 Three players got it spot on this month. DAVID SNOW Quicksilver1989 coldest winter Top 10 Overall and Seasonal result for Winter 2020 mb018538 won after leading in January. Stationary Front was 2nd (from 5th). The PIT was 3rd (from 7th).
  4. VAR has confirmed that the sites were onside, and the results stands!! Jan 20 CET.xlsx(Excel) -> Again there is an issue with downloading these figures, rename the file as a .xlsx and it will work. Seriously though, here are the results, nobody got the figures spot on but 4 were 0.1c out. 6. Over the next week or so, very little snow is expected over the Alps, especially the next 3 days. Kitzbuhel Next 6 days (Left) Mostly dry, freezing levels ranging from 1450m to 2500m after today. Meribel Next 6 days (Right) Dry into this weekend, 14cm of snow currently forecast for next Tuesday with freezing levels ranging from 1700m to 2000m after today.
  7. I have gone through the figures, it took longer than normal due to the total number of entries. Monthly Scores Overall Scores Excel Spreadsheet If you rename the file as an XLSX File it should work fine. Dec 19 CET.xlsx
  8. Snow-forecast Charts https://www.snow-forecast.com/ Further precipitation likely across the Alps for the next 6 days. Looking at Day 0-3 there is quite a lot of rain expected on the map, indicating that freezing levels are likely to be quite high. For days 4-6 there are localised areas in the North West with over 1m of snow, but less precipitation for many parts of the Alps. Resort focus Tignes - Hotspot area for snow, this general area will see a fair amount of snow over the Next 6 days, Snow Levels are likely to be over 2000m to start, this dropping over the weekend. Other parts of the Alps are likely to largely miss out. At 1500m Moderate rainfall expected until Friday (30mm), before this turns to snow over the weekend. (50cm) At 1500m Light snow for Thursday, 25cm of snow Friday, Drier early Saturday, before heavy snowfall late Saturday into Monday, with a risk of over 150cm of fresh snow.
  9. I think it does use GFS. I think this is type of pattern where small changes to the overall pattern can make big differences on the ground. I am afraid that we will have a keep an eye on it for the next few days.
  10. A pretty snowy week is in prospect for the Alps, with potentially over 1m of fresh snow possible in some parts of the North West. Areas around Tignes look likely to see the heaviest snowfall. There is a considerable change in the freezing level, during the week as different air masses go through. To start the week a Polar Maritime air mass with North westerly winds, briefly turning South Westerly midweek with a ridge of High Pressure bringing a Tropical Maritime airmass. By Thursday winds back to westerly with a Polar Maritime airmass with further heavy precipitation edging in as shown below for Tignes. Looking at Tignes especially the snow is back ended with the heaviest snow before next weekend. https://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Tignes/6day/mid
  11. Maps from Snow-forecast.com Some moderate snow in Western parts of the Alps to start the week, with some light snow also likely in North Eastern parts of the Alps. Turning drier more generally across the Alps for the middle of the week. Snow Maps Day 0-3 Snow Maps Day 4-6 Weather Today - Mid Station Weather Tomorrow - Mid Station Weather Tuesday- Mid Station

  15. Translated this shows the rainfall in 48hrs to 21 Oct. Slightly at a tangent for a mountain thread I know but massive rainfall in Beziers in the past 24hrs. (242mm) https://twitter.com/VigiMeteoFrance/status/1186960626192699394
  16. Given the climate trends, resorts will need to be creative to maximise their business, this seems like good common sense.
  17. Heavy rainfall expected over parts of the Alps in the Next 72 hrs. Some snowfalls on the highest mountains but rain and potential flooding the key features. Extreme amount of rainfall (locally 300-400 mm) is expected across the western Alps through the next 3 days, Oct 19-21st – Severe Weather Europe WWW.SEVERE-WEATHER.EU The first serious autumn pattern is establishing over the Alps this weekend as major rainfall event is expected. 19. Very much an excellent article. Do enthusiast weather station like the ones on WOW and Wunderground tend to be as accurate those at official sites or does it depend on actual details. As an example, if a site as is way out of line with other sites, I tend to ignore it as unreliable.
