  1. 20.5c here today, forecast was for light rain and 18c whereas it's been dry all day if rather cloudy. Another day over 20c... Forecast for next 4 days: Is 20, 20, 20, 21 so pretty good
  2. If you do live near the east coast next week may not be that great tbh. Better in the west, NW highlands should do well for example. Currently 18.6c but nowhere near as sunny as yesterday and as a result feeling cooler but it's still decent nonetheless
  3. Fair point. Yes, it depends on your own micro-climate I suppose. My house is sheltered from almost all sides, so cooler at night in winter, warmer in summer during the day. Also, I have a hill so in the winter, less sunlight after about 2pm therefore colder. They do have to be cautious. However, it is frequently underplayed, whether that be winter cold or summer heat
  4. Agreed BUS. To my west cloudy say 18c Here it's patchy sunshine 21c and where I've been this afternoon is the east of Dumfries which was far warmer due to tatal sunshine. I'd estimate 22-23c. Slight breeze stopping it climbing further. Perfect summer weather.
  5. Surprisingly warm start to the day, 17.3c currently with sunshine. Feeling warm. These next 10 days or so (prediction is for high pressure nearby) should help dry out the ground after a very wet few days. Do the Met Office under do temperatures for your locations? I realise there has been a thread created for this elsewhere. Just the forecast was for 18c so only 0.7 to go and it's not 11 o'clock... Should make 20 again EDIT: dark clouds have popped up so maybe showers will hit... Pegging the temperature back, we'll see...
  6. Nice night here, after a wet morning. Reached 20.1c and was fairly humid. Tomorrow looking decent although nothing on the temps expected down south
  7. Fair pointI notice Paisley has an average in July of 19.7c although I'm sure somewhere outwith the large stations will record higher. It's a bit like the -30c question. It's most likely been achieved but due to met office guidelines and lack of stations in remote highland glens we will never know until it is broken at an official station
  8. 21.2c, milky sunshine and a slight breeze. Perfect summer weather
  9. 19.2 is very close.I reckon your drier and more consistently reaching that temperature whereas we are wetter here and have a little more variation. I say this because Stirling is certainly much drier, a lot more 'useable' days but a little less humid and cooler. (Loch froze over in December whereas a couple nights of sleet in Dumfries but a remarkable lack of frost all winter).28 is very respectable. The record is 32.8c in two locations - Dumfries and can't remember... I want to say Perthshire but no clue.Anyone know what the summers of 2003 and 2006 were like in Scotland... They are always mentioned as good summers in England, recent benchmarks if you will but I can't remember them properly
  10. A little off topic but have you silaged yet? I was wondering how far ahead/behind you are of where I live... Mainly farmers got their first cut end of May... We want haylage (sp?) and thus need 2 more weeks (better weather permitting)
  11. Haha, nothing wrong with a glad half full approach! I do have a sheltered location, more so than the town of Dumfries so less wind means slightly lower night time temps and slightly higher day time temps (if clear)Since average for Dumfries in July is 19.5c (Met Office) then 20 is quite regularly broken (so far in 2014 - 9 occasions with 5 days straight a couple of weeks ago).I have records of last summer but can't access the spreadsheet so off the top of my head... 2 days reached 29.5ish and a further 2 were over 28. Can't remember how many 25+ days but during that 2 week hit spell most days surpassed 22c. Average max was a very warm 21.7c. Mainly due to persistent warmth as opposed to a tremendous heatwave.Your proximity to the coast may be limiting your temperatures?... 10 miles or so to my south is within 5 miles of the sea and had a very temperate climate with cold mild or warmer mild seemingly your seasonal variations with almost no snow and almost no days over 25c...I wonder where in Scotland has the highest average max? Moray firth must be very close to beating 19.5c....
  12. NUT - it most certainly is cold here (by June standards). Currently 11.5c... Max today was 13c almost 6 degrees below the average max (18.7). Let's hope the warmer charts that the models are gradually beginning to coherently show, come to fruition. Eagerly waiting on the first 25c day...
  13. Reached 20.2c today which is far better than expected, no rain so far either with sunny glimpses. Long may the pessimistic forecasts continue to be incorrect
  14. As a general rule of thumb, what kind of number should you add on to the upper temps to get the 2m? (At this time of year - I read someone state rough guidelines for winter which was useful) I'm sure I read 15 somewhere on here. So on the above chart 30/31 should be possible in the SE, IF those charts verified exactly as shown... Or am I wrong?
  15. Reached 20.5c here, with the sun so strong it was great. Shame the forecast is looking downhill... Blitzen, it's only until the forum returns to a more active state ie autumn looking forward to next winter
  16. Currently 14c already and feeling much warmer in the very strong sunshine... Let's hope it lasts, if so 20c should be surpassed
  17. Agreed, I'd like it just a bit warmer overall. Average max in July is 19.5 (Metoffice) so if you factor in 1/3 will be wet days with low temps then the majority of the month will breach 20/21c here which is pretty good
  18. Yesterday was glorious and reached 20c. Very sunny. Making it a week (7 day period) of conservative 18c plus temperatures, which isn't bad for this early. Today, is cloudy, windy and cool by contrast
  19. WB, the chart has definitely changed. The original was for Friday the 30th I think. I had far lower pressure to the SW, with fronts straddled across the UK. Hope that helps Thanks
  20. There has been numerous strikes and I got one good view of a fairly close strike with the bolt shooting horizontally through the sky. The thunder was almost immediately behind. Seems like it is now moving steadily north . Although there was a big strike recently. I'd say Glasgow is in line, whether the intensity will be maintained is debatable. Hope so It was a good wee storm but nothing on the rogue storm in March 2012 which deposited 2 inches of hailstones which lay on all surfaces. Surreal and very localised (5 mile in circumference) and it was accompanied by lightning which hit our field. Anyone have special events with lightning or storms in general? I've only taken notice the last 5 or so years so I'm sure some of you will know far more
  21. Impact imminent here! Power is off in Dumfries but I'm slightly further west and so the storm will be a tad later in arriving. Lightning is visible, at 5 min intervals with increasingly loud thunder. Could be in for a good but short show...
  22. Very warm today, up at 20c and feeling humid. Frequent spells of strong sunshine. Better than yesterday
  23. Yep, had about 10 or so reasonable strikes with loud thunder (I live on the western outskirts of Dumfries) Not too much rain though. Has eased currently
  24. Power has gone twice and there has been loud rumbles of thunder now. The next hour or so could be interesting but I suspect I'll miss out on the main action, somewhere like Stranraer maybe be better placed
