  1. I was referring to the earlier discrepancies (mentioned on page 5 of this thread) between the maps on the Met Off web page showing max wind speeds and the warning areas'.
  2. with all the extra traffic and interest from storm Doris it would be good if the MO could be on top of this ...
  3. yes i am i worked at LHR in a senior role at the time - it was costly both to reputation and profits - but it never was teetering on bankruptcy they had literally billions in positive cash balances - i don't think the trainers on a course about shovelling snow really know or understand what they are talking about in relation to the financial viability of LHR.

  11. Just approaching 2" of rain here in North Lakes lot of flooded fields etc but not the near biblical floods of early December !! So a wet windy day but nothing partic exceptional
  12. Wind has just started getting up in last half an hour still dry though i think it will be windy and wet but nothing out of the ordinary for winter in Cumbria no more than a couple of inches of rain at worst - not the static orographic forcing rain event we had 4 weeks ago ....
  13. I have some empathy with that wish too , it's just there comes a point where you worry about what it will do to your property and garden etc ..... Must be getting old !!
  14. Thankfully the sting jet element I believe is staying over sea and will not affect land ..?? If it was I imagine we would have red warnings from the met office for wind damage impact ..
  15. I think for the Lake District the big question will be does the front stall or clear through sharpish ?? I reckon anything up to 4" around here we will just about manage, anything over that and we will be looking at major flooding again ...
  16. 3.2c dew point of 0.3c here just outside of Keswick , nice covering on the hills above about 1200ft ...
  17. Currently in Keswick area and it is no surprise if you are here very windy out with Derwent water to the south it is actually quite exposed to s west gales
  18. Truly shocking evening in Northern Lake District pulses of heavy rain and 9.5c it literally could be November !!
