  1. The clouds are whipping past - but the wind doesn't seem to match it in terms of strength. Kind of drizzly and a bit gusty here. Doesn't feel like a storm really
  2. Netweather currently forecasting thundery showers between 4 and 7 in the morning for our area which would be nice, but I imagine it will all change soon enough Looks to be tracking quite far north
  3. Think that's a taboo question - i've asked it several times and everyone goes eerily quiet...
  4. As long as there is the possibility of lightning I'll be happy. Oh and also as long as nobody gets hurt too! Worried we'll hear the all-too-frequent story of someone being careless near the sea and getting into trouble. It always upsets me when people take risks that they don't need to
  5. Was gonna have a barbecue tomo. Better light it up today instead and put my Bergeron ;-)
  6. And Estofex missed all this too! Goes to show you should never give up hope just cos the forecast doesn't say you'll get a storm :-D
  7. This rainband moving in could be nasty as it hits the convergence area further north. Can see it eating up little bits of scud
  8. Ãœber-grumpy sky looking southwestwards from Guildford. How it isn't thundery I really don't know
  9. Come on southern storms... :-) I have a free evening now so would be lovely to get a surprise event from all that rain - feels slightly stormy too!
  10. Just for today - lots of storms oop north but looks like the south could get action later on... All the posts were getting lost in the excitement from yorks and above! Any southerners with storm reports or forecasts can share data here for the time being provided it doesn't get locked or merged... Fingers crossed! Massive rain block heading up an now hit land be Bournemouth - no activity yet as far as I can see tho
  11. Huge hunk of rain moving up NEwards into the central south from the sea. Wondering if that will turn electrical when it gets to land?
  12. Maybe a new thread is required, looks like there will be a lot of activity in here over the next few days!
  13. Yeah I really want to know what the deal is with any potential electrical activity in Bertha (if it hits). Asked in two threads now and nobody's actually answered I just wanna know - I'm interested in how an ex-thunderstorm can not remain thundery when it's hitting a warm environment. All the ingredients seem to be there and the forecast gives 52% storm chance. Or is this just wishful thinking?
  14. Could someone clarify if there is likely to be a convective and electrical element to this weather system? Not strictly because I want it to be ( though I do ) but just out of curiosity and to help me understand a bit more about this type of set up Thanks
  15. I had a feeling today might have potential just because of the number of times I've heard 'very quiet day' said or written in the forecasts ;-)
  16. Is Bertha gonna be particularly electrically active? I know hurricanes list thunderstorms as one of the key ingredients if you look on the back of the packet, but this being an ex-hurricane, is it likely it's gonna throw a few good convective storms our way? All I've heard so far is there will be wind and rain (albeit lots of both...)
  17. It means you are near Ed Milliband's house
  18. Experimental thread this so feel free to remove if it covers ground already trampled somewhere else, but I thought it would be nice to have a thread where people discuss what models are predicting over the next 14 days. We have no more storm potential for a good few days and would be nice to start looking forward to the next batch of activity and test everyone's understanding of the science behind it all... To kick off I have noticed GFS showing very slight signals for something on Tuesday / Wednesday (5th, 6th August) and looks even better for next weekend. I know it's a long way off, but what's the harm in looking into it?
