  1. does this mean what i think it means? warm air rising, rising, dumping dumping? the front edge of the front seems to have stalled again too
  2. i think another band of heavier precipitation might be forming in a line nw from south of bristol going over us towards west wales they've just had a lightning strike down there (bristol way) as well
  3. looks like there may be another heavier band forming out in the channel and heading for us?
  4. we must be getting a double dose here then, because it's howling out there.
  5. perhaps, for once, you're actually BENEFITING from being close to the sea? I'm quite surprised the sleet level on the radar has actually pushed out into the Bristol channel. I honestly wasn't expecting to see that tonight.
  6. i think it's going to be exactly what we got now. light 'drizzle' like snow, blowing around. should be a fun morning.
  7. seems to have pushed north a bit as well. end of the 'stall'?
  8. nature of the snow seems to have changed. did start going quite wet, and I thought it was about to change to sleet, but now, it is much finer, needle sharp on the face. something has changed. feels a lot colder out there now too. anyone else noticing this? only light, but if it stays like this till daybreak, i reckon there'll be fun and games tomorrow. any prospect of more heavy stuff?
  9. no gaps on the radar. temporary local thing i'd say.
  10. interestingly, the sleet level now has pushed out right into the bristol channel. does this indicate the cold air pushing even further?
  11. anything to watch for on the radar? getting light pink fatigue here!
  12. no, i don't think so. the front is still exactly where it was, not moving. we're at the bottom of a nimbostratus train wreck. keep piling it on baby!
  13. just been out for a look at the main road here in Maesteg(Bridgend Road). traffic still moving, just. My road is just about impassable already. drifts building up around the cars. Pavements invisible. radar suggesting it should be slackening off for us, but it's really coming down out there. more lining up in the channel as well. odds on the power going out?
  14. have you noticed the front edge of the front seems to be 'eroding', don't know if that's the right word, and an intense band of precipitation seems to have formed RIGHT over me. from just south of bristol all the way nearly to the west wales coast? lol what's that all about then?
  15. if you can reach the dish, give it a clean with a brush, or something.. if you can't, tough t**ty. it's snow on the dish. had this problem 3 or 4 years back and when the sky man cam to put sky+ in in 2006, i had him to put the dish at a height i can at least reach with a broom if it snowed as heavily again.
  16. translation? grease the shovel? polar bear alert? no, seriously, sounds good, I THINK!!
  17. we are RIGHT in the middle of that intense blob of pink over the valleys on the NW radar. who'd have thunk it. eh?
  18. well well, sleet level has moved back to the very edge of the coast. looks like it might be game on after all.
  19. it's going to ease off for you by the looks of it, but you are well in the snow level, so you should have steady blowing snow all night. bit worried our snow is going to turn back to rain/sleet. we're really close to that level here on the radar. if it doesn't, there's some juicy looking stuff brewing over in Somerset.
