  1. blizzard at the Emirates Stadium, as per Netweather correspondent Jeff Stelling!
  2. i think it just shows the BUILDING potential of this upcoming event. if we're getting this out of near cloudless skies, what will it be like when the cloud comes over? is it possible, even at this late stage, that the power of the block over us has been underestimated Jack?
  3. DS, is that thermometer knackered, or something?
  4. coincidentally though, my cat just said the same, so we now have the Met Office trumped. seriously, she sits on the kitchen window, with this look on her face , 's**t, i am NOT going out there!'
  5. personally, i don't think they want the population panicking, and emptying every shop in the country, and are DELIBERATELY flip flopping in their warnings, and the severity of them, to give the impression that i's a knife edge situation, out of their control, when in fact they know exactly what is about to occur. thought that for a while too. must be what the chief of the Met Office gets his 'performance related bonus' for, eh?
  6. they haven't really got a clue Jay. it'll be down to radar watching tomorrow I think. you're definitely going to see snow, how heavy, and for how long though, I don't know, and neither do they. get NW radar if you haven't already. great value for £3 odd in a situation like this.
  7. cardiff swansea in the play off final this year? should be fun.
  8. we just need a scottish and irish one now to complete the set!
  9. forecaster speak for 'frankly, we haven't got a clue!'
  10. thanks trouble is, she's on about going NOW. oh well, looks like i'll just have to leave it in the lap of the gods!
  11. quick bit of advice here peeps please the missus wants to go up to bristol to see her mate. she's taking our daughter as well she's on about coming back tomorrow afternoon wise, or not? how bad do you think the snow will be tomorrow morning/afternoon? bad enough to pose a risk? no pressure like!
  12. adam shakespeare light snow falling here now, out of blue skies with high fast moving clouds.
  13. do the charts take into account the AMOUNT of snow lying on the ground, and the effect that has on the temperatures over land, especially in the UK, where we very rarely have this situation? if not, then maybe what they are saying at the moment is way off, and the block is going to be far harder to break down than they think?
  14. no, these mountains to my north are sucking them dry. enjoy the starter though. i'll hold on for the main course!
  15. quite a batch of snow laden cloud is now building to our north, so MAYBE it'll break past the mountains and give us a bit now? actually, the snow is VERY close to you now adam.
  16. if he sacked her, he'd have a legal case to answer I reckon. a 3 mile hike in a blizzard is easily enough to kill a HEALTHY person, never mind someone with health issues.
  17. a hell of a lot of people are self employed and drive for a living, me included. conditions like this are a nightmare. Not expecting sympathy though, it's just tough doo doo for me I suppose. I've been expecting this for the past 5 years, it's why I joined this forum in the first place TBH, to keep an eye on the weather in the winter. kids NEED to be kept home, because in conditions like this, vehicles lose control only too easily.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGZRIX4HKGE although, bailing isn't something I'd personally do! Imagine if there was a bunch of schoolkids around that corner? anyway, the claims culture is here to stay, unfortunately, so schools are right to keep kids home, for their, and the kids benefit. apart from that, I agree with you!
  18. so, if I've got it right, what we are looking at here, is either.. a) a slow thaw breakdown (which some experts on here think is being overplayed?) b ) a medium dumping c) a mega dumping would that be right?
  19. yes, i understand. the winds will be quite strong when it gets going though, won't it? i can see big stretches of nothing at all, and tumps of snow here and there coming now. lol should be a comical sight!
  20. how big would the drifts be for 5/10/15 cms on average Jackone?
  21. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=nwdc;sess= go here Jay, and click on 'precipitation type', then go through the charts one by one. saturday night into sunday morning it all kicks off
