  1. no sign so far though steaming through us. still light snow here, and blowing around well.
  2. sleet level is disturbingly close to me now on the radar
  3. only a few bare patches left on the road now. everything east facing getting coated. drifting like crazy. gonna be a WILD night if this keeps up. Once everything gets a decent covering, the lying snow and the falling snow will turn outside into a maelstrom. never thought i'd ever see anything like this again in my lifetime.
  4. snow quite intense now visibility dropping all the time first real blizzard i have seen here since 82
  5. blizzard here starting to stick as well getting worse and worse by the minute.
  6. in a marginal situation like this, how much will lying snow play a part? I was down West Wales(Haverfordwest) today, and they still have impressive quantities of snow lying. will that have a positive effect, seeing as it is so knife edge for them, and will that then also benefit points further east?
  7. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/weather/ianfergusson/ Ian Fergusson
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/weather/ianfergusson/ Ian Fergusson's latest update about the snow risk South Wales, IS the mask of Zorro! just a thought, if the arrival of the low is delayed, as he says, isn't that good for snow? doesn't it mean the block is putting up a better fight than first thought?
  9. was delivering down around MH and Haverfordwest today. Amazing amounts of snow compared to around here. the main roads are fine, but the side roads and ESPECIALLY the country roads are thick. Still managed to get everything delivered though. even walked half a mile to one, that was at the bottom of a steep hill. It'll be impossible to deliver down there the next couple of days if they have a hammering.
  10. i think you'll find my mate Gordon will think differently! I'm thinking this snow could give us quite a covering tonight.
  11. i just measured the distance between the bit that's heading straight for me, and took the radar back the same distance. it was there 3 hours 20 mins before 2245. ahhh, just realised my performance related bonus hinges on getting this right! can I have 5 minutes either way?
  12. well, using my highly scientific pencil and paper, I estimate an arrival time of around 205am, or so, for us around here MI. that's assuming it stays on the same track and doesn't do it's usual fizzling out party trick.
  13. the bare patches are SLOWLY being filled in by the light snow here now. very very slowly
  14. oK, thanks woody. I'll be doing my mechanised Torville and Dean impersonation tomorrow again then. lol i'm getting quite good at this driving on ice lark now, but it only takes one slip, doesn't it?
  15. ok, thanks. got a few to do out in the sticks, so i'll just have to see how it goes.
  16. agreed they are throwing 'severe' weather warnings out there willy nilly, so much so that people, me included, are disregarding ANYTHING they say now. it is going to backfire SPECTACULARLY on them one day, and lots of people are going to be adversely affected. then they'll say, 'well, we did warn you!' not good enough. anyone reading this from the Haverfordwest area who can tell me the state of the side/country roads down there? exactly. the whole department may as well not exist at all the way they are going.
  17. last real 'biggie' was 82. everywhere got slammed then. there have been events since, which were big for some, but not all, but 82 was definitely the big one. on a side note, I am delivering around the Haverfordwest area tomorrow. what are the side/country roads like down there now?
  18. http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0110/tracker.html just thought you boys + girls might want to know that an iceberg has been spotted just off Ireland for the first time in 40 years. it's at 14:58

  20. very very strange how one minute, there's a warning, then nothing, then a warning, then nothing, then a warning, then when the 'event' turns up, it turns out not to be an event at all! very strange. oh well, at least I'll be able to earn next week now. I'd given up hope of earning anything for ages, given the forecasts.
