  1. Rain turning to snow in aycliffe now, heavy snow reported around bishop auckland areas too.
  2. Yet another wet day ahead, heavy rain this morning followed by heavy showers and some thunderstorms. Rain moving back south along with colder air tonight bringing hill snow for a time.
  3. It did feel much milder in hazy sunshine today between showers.
  4. Looked like a decent storm passed near you earlier
  5. Another pulse of very heavy rain now working it's way into the region from the southwest. Just had a few intense downpours here, this will only add to flooding issues with combined snow melt from earlier snow and more rain this week to start with. All in all, pretty poor start to April! No sign of spring warmth up here either with temperatures around average.
  6. Despite rain and sleet to low levels, above 150m in county durham some very wintry scenes with falling and settling snow...
  7. I would not say nearly 200 miles is a narrow band of snow lol.
  8. Very sleety here now, ppn not heavy enough to cool things down for proper snow to fall to lower lying areas. Unlike further south this morning. Many places above around 200m have a slight covering or more currently.
  9. Not particular heavy at the moment, hope that heavier stuff that is giving parts of yorkshire heavy snow gets here soon before the milder air arrives.
  10. Snowing in aycliffe this morning, ground soaking wet so not settling (as expected)
  11. So falling snow still on the cards for many tomorrow morning. Above 200m this will fall all morning with some decent accumulations above 250-300m. Temporary slushy accumulations likely on ground around 100-150m and above. Snow in heavier bursts will fall to low ground away from coastal areas. All in all a very miserable, cold, wet day for many tomorrow. Some places a good 10.c warmer tuesday afteroon.
  12. If you want a last snow fix you best get your hiking boots on as it will be high ground above 250m for any settling snow tomorrow. Still a chance of some brief sleet/snow very early in morning otherwise just a rather wet Monday. Been trending this way the past couple of days now, sure metoffice will update warning again to probably focus more on scotland.
  13. Tomorrow mate, the morning will see a mixture of rain, sleet and snow. This of the showery nature. This falling as sleet and snow more readily during the early hours and may give slight covering on high ground above 250m Colder air now moving over the region. Mondays snow now looking more likely to be restricted to high ground with many places east of peninnes seeing a brief spell of sleet/snow as it moves up from thr south.
  14. 50 to 100m will make a huge difference tomorrow, especially from late morning onwards for those who see snow and those who see rain. Best chance of falling snow for most will be early morning. Settling snow for high ground above 200-250m
  15. Home from the lakes. Was sleet/snow this morning over there, nothing heavy. Then started snowing around highest point on A66, again nothing heavy and only settling on highest hills. Then just heavy rain with a little sleet in heavy bursts for rest of journey home. Temp ranged from 1c to 5c with it only 3c at home.
  16. Monday looking very snowy, this will be long lasting falling snow as the front slows and stalls over us. Temps will really struggle in places and i expect many will have a white easter. Coastal areas and areas adjacent to east coast more likely to have rain along with low lying areas later as milder air creeps in. Snow of the wet sticky variety, so some nice scenes for some hilly areas.
  17. I disagree, with persistant heavy ppn. Evaporative cooling will aid snow getting down to lower levels across most of the region. This will really struggle to settle on ground below around 150m.
  18. Snow on the high peaks today after overnight snow...
  19. Well what a stressfull start to my weekend away in the lakes. Took me nearly 4 hours to get here due to A66 being closed and multiple diversions. Then got to hotel and the room was terrible, made a complaint and the weren't interested... Paid £350 for a two night stay in a so called luxury hotel, when in reality i have stayed in better quality premier inns. So demanded a refund and managed to get a room elsewhere at cheaper price and far superior room. Rant over! At least i drove through a snow shower and plenty of snow drifts still on tops of peninnes and peaks
  20. Not much lying snow i would expect but falling snow very possible. This really does depend on timing, track and intenisity... Very much a nowcast event.
  21. Yep, showers building across the region with some hail mixed in.
  22. Not much change this morning for easter weekend. Still looking unsettled, still looking colder and still the chance of snow. Snow at first on higher ground but this to low lying areas too later. These conditions continue into next week.
