  1. Looks like a very mild end to 2018, the new year brings in colder air for us to end next week and high pressure looks set to dominate for the foreseeable,
  2. Nice Frosty start here this Christmas morning...
  3. Just a quick merry Christmas to fellow weather peeps in here... hopefully the current SSW will produce some colder weather in a couple of weeks time. Although no snow tomorrow it may look a little festive for some with frost and fog in places.
  4. I'll take that, better than rain and mildness. Probably be January before we see the cold dig in and snow.
  5. Milder week ahead, Tuesday - Blah! May settle down for xmas, little sign of any snow in the short to medium term.
  6. I think the warnings were needed, lots of accidents on roads this evening. Roads closed. Power outages and Freezing rain and snow for some. Only need to get out and about the region to see the 'in places' atrocious driving conditions. Granted for many in certain areas it has just been a cold wet day
  7. I have family living up Shotley Bridge, hope it snows on boxing day when i'm up lol
  8. Despite netweather radar showing widespread snow across our region in reality it is a real mix of rain, freezing rain and sleet for most.
  9. Ice pellet and snow mix here in Newton Aycliffe, roads and pavements very ice with a visible coating...
  10. Looking at the temperatures higher up they dont get much above freezing for many parts inland tomorrow until after 9pm so can see more places seeing snow than rain. Dew points at or below freezing too. The layer of warmer air only 0 - 2.c max
  11. Welcome by the way. A spell of snow very likely as summer sun says, this may last for a fair few hours during the evening too. Very tricky conditions tomorrow for sure
  12. The main concern is Freezing rain tomorrow, but snow still likely but may be more confined to higher ground but to lower levels later possibly. Will be an interesting day to say the least and vary from one place to another.
  13. Indeed, even Christmas time looking interesting too. But January into Feb look a good chance for prolonged cold spell due to potential SSW and vortex split
  14. Fully out of hibernation now... Just in time for this weekends snow risk. For now all areas away from the east coast likely to see a few hours of snow Saturday from 6-9pm giving accumulations. Ground above 250m will likely see snow for several hours giving some 5-15cm.
  15. Whilst driving back from work you could clearly see consett hills and surrounding areas covered in snow. Been a fun morning, but for majority it has been a wintry mix, wet and cold. Some decent sunny spells now.
  16. Not surprised to see pics of snow this morning. Only sleet here but some big flakes. Stanly and consett look badly affected.
  17. Absoloutly chucking it down here in the past 20 minutes.... With rain. Certainly felt much colder late this afternoon out and about. Some wintryness for many during tomorrow morning.
  18. Give it another month mate lol Next weekend certainly feeling cold, but not much snow apart from high ground and maybe low ground during night period
  19. Real chill in the air today. might have the first widespread frost of the season coming up this week? won't last long once the sun rises.
  20. Not for all, many places north of bishop auckland/ durham area had a rather wet day. Still some late evening heavy showers around too.
