  1. Some one posted chart similar to the one Daniel posted with all the warmer air wrapped round it. Shame, however I do feel this week was always going to be worthless apart from this beautiful weather. Main cold is next week or week after, or a better threat of proper cold with Europe having better in bedded cold air .
  2. Agreed to the full extent, possibilities next week or after, this week nope. GFS, quote, here today gone tomorrow. Really who wants the chance of drizzly/ sleety wet mess when you could have today repeated for days on end.
  3. You might be having problems as its Easter week so it might be holiday time out there which is why you cant book much and all is so expensive. Have you tried Verbier expensive but you never know. You can fly into Sion for there. Also seeing as everyone is saying thats its a back loaded winter you could well be ok in a lower resort.
  4. Mmmm what a cold day...........lol...NOT 8/9c shirt off working in corner of garden, clouds building now, little wind.
  5. Yep down to -2.5c, everything lovely and white to wake up to. Far better than will it wont it marginal snow, like the weekend. Windy raw cold easterlies, with drizzle/pos sleety wet snow, no chance of anything good. Bring on early spring with lovely sunny days and some frost at night.
  6. Its winter it should be cold lol.. hardly brass monkey weather, just a beautiful winters night. However what a fantastic bright stunning clear moon tonight.
  7. Maybe thats a plan. Everyone get out their sun loungers, BBQs and summer clothes. That will make certain we get some snow or proper cold.
  8. Opps sorry, doesnt say 2m temps on there, Just says UK Temp. Is there a link to the ground temps. Thanks
  9. Well just checked and where are the heavy frosts people are talking about, barely below freezing according to your output for most of the southern uk.
  10. Beginning to feel the warmth of the sun now. Lovely out of the wind in the corner of the garden.
  11. Interesting that Sub Zero has just posted two temps charts for thurs and friday, in the MO thread. Seems it shows around -1c for much of southern UK, and nothing much more. To be honest its not as much as I expected and I am sure it will be colder, but however my point is that it aint going to be particularly deep hard frosts going by that.
  12. If its marginal, damp raw etc. As Surreys says then best to get cold and sunny and frosty.
  13. If I had my frozen meat in the freezer at 4/5c, it wouldn't be very happy....
  14. I am worried that your phrase scattered wintry showers might be of the wetter kind at best. The low at the weekend seems to be dragging up air from the south not east or north east, it will change of course...... Everywhere the ambient temp is above normal within 200 miles of here if not much further. It of course will feel cold and hopefully some nice frosts. However I hope that we get a high over the top of us not with east/n east winds with raw cold damp winds and nothing snowy to speak off.
  15. Blimey I had 3 frosts just last week, not bad considering only few hundred yards from the sea.
  16. Dont mean to be argumentative. Sorry back into the freezer?? Where does any forecast suggest that. Some frosts by night, temps 5/7c during day, pos bit colder.
  17. Taken from the model thread, for those who dont visit there from Ian F. Only points of emphasis I'd add to Gibby's summary are re Fri-Sat: - sufficient signal still within EC-EPS and MOGREPS to maintain a risk of more developmental outcome with gales/severe gales into SW/S, with attendant risk of heavy rain and lower risk significant snow - mismatches this morning between WV imagery and model expectations in critical source area for evolution later this week illustrates the low confidence message re how things will unfold: treat deterministic fields by Fri with a due level of doubt. May remain unresolved until short lead time.
  18. Sourcing those winds, all the way from Africa, I just cant see it happening. Maybe next week ie into March, when countryfile gives temps of 8c all week and they say its cold, it just doesn't do it for me. I think there will be a lot of toys out of the pram, the only good news is what Ian F points to in regards to lower than average temps. Even that may not be good enough.
  19. 5.8c for my first time please. Based on the fact that winter is over and that means it will be colder than average again like last year lol.. Or also based on back ended winter with El Nino, possibly even lower than that.
  20. So we have gone from GW, never going to see snow ever again the UK, hotter dryer summers, severe flooding in the shape of binge flooding. Now we have to believe its going to be The Day After Tomorrow scenario. Has anyone told the government that instead of building flood defenses we need more power stations to keep us warm. Maybe some one should start a petition on Maddens behalf, lol....
  21. What a stunning photo, shows Austria to its beautiful best.
  22. I have to say that is a very different photo and the perfect pisted run. Only one problem it needs to be ruined by skies before and after, lol..
  23. The above photo and the other two look amazing, perfect Austrian slopes and so quiet. How busy does it get up there or is it relatively quieter normally.
  24. That Fax chart makes a mockery of this mornings GFS run. Those fronts are miles away from the SW. Reading between the lines I suggest a gander at that and the Mets over view is pretty much the score until mon/tues.
