    Czech government is thinking about doubling down and will maybe ban events above 10 people + everything will remain closed after 8pm (including bars, restaurants etc.)

    Well we have a liftoff here in Czech Republic. 91 cases and almost 50 of them are from the last two days.

    Record for max. temp was broken on 134 out of 154 stations in my country today.

    End of January and flies are buzzing outside. What a disaster this winter is.

    The surface conditions on GFS 6z are poor. Above freezing pretty much all over Europe. The uppers are not cold enough.

    Disgusting output. Just never ending high pressure. Drought that began in 2015 will unfortunately continue and it will hit us even harder this year if we don't get snow. The last really cool summer here in Czech Republic was in 1996. Don't know what would have to happen to get a cold summer in current climate. Seems impossible now.

    Only 2 of the last 20 winter months (including Jan 20) were cold here in Central Europe - Jan 17 and Feb 18. And even then they were severely lacking in snowfall. Not to mention Jan 17 was mostly inversion because HP quickly collapsed.

    It doesn't matter what the starting point is nowadays. This is seventh year in a row with the same end result. HP just sitting over Europe. There is always something that goes off the rails and destroys any chance for at least average winter.

    Well, GFS OP serves up pretty mild new year's eve for Europe. Over to GEFS if there is something more interesting but today's runs are very underwhelming to say the least.

    This will be record breaking mild spell in Central Europe and the longetivity is unheard of. The lowest night temps next week will be above 10C on many days.

    There are probably three 6z ENS that bring something noteworthy in the FI but overall it's another underwhelming set.

    Disgusting. Lows spinning over Atlantic, HP sitting over Europe. Another December down the drain, barring a Christmas miracle.

    Lucky you. To get my winter fix here I had to go above 1000 M. a. s. l. And even there it's not really anything special. Outlook is pretty bad so by the time Christmas roll in, everything will be gone even there.

    Yeah, pretty underwhelmed by the output for the CE. It will be unpleasant enough but the uppers are too weak to support anything wintry down here. Mountains will be alright I guess.

    Not that pronounced this year but it's true for CE. We had the warmest summer on record (beating Summer 2018).

    Another year has passed and it is still the same old story, isn't it jules? The switch has been flipped in April 2013 and we have been stuck since then.

    Central Europe will turn into steppe in ten years if things continue on current pace. It's scary how quickly things are progressing and the way records are broken is mindblowing. June was another sobering reminder of that.

    Well, you could say UK has been lucky/unlucky. Those records from 2003 are being overwritten all the time here in Central Europe these past few summers. June 03 was the warmest June on record until now. June 19 beat it by 1,3 °C.

    So June ended. What a disgusting month. 5C above average. Autumn can't come soon enough.

    Yep, I'm not expecting this will last, unfortunately.

    Finally! Everything is scorched here. Just hope there is rain coming. Have to correct you though, May was actually one of the very rare below average months in Central Europe (more than 2C below average). June on the other hand will probably be the warmest on record.

    We'll be saved from the worst here in the east thankfully though I still think western part of the Czech rep. will come close to 40C. France will probably break a lot of records.
