  1. I don't think it's quite as simple as that is it.
  2. They aren't just for snow. The rubber compound is designed for temperatures of up to 7.oC. for wet weather and cold tarmac. And what price would you put on your life.
  3. Indeed they are good in wet icy weather. And work exceptionally well in temperatures of up to 7.oC. I would say the likelihood of the Easterly back end of next week will be interesting. Not much ppn for inland areas away from the East.
  4. I don't think it's the uk cities that can't cope with snow. It's the people driving vehicles not equipped to deal with it. For example if you .youtube winter tyres verses normal tyres you will see it makes the difference between having a accident and not. Or getting stuck or not. Even the BMW drivers would benefit from winter tyres. It makes a really important difference having 4 winter tyres fitted. Do not fit just 2 winter tyres to the drive wheels. Always fit 4 to the vehicle that's a must. I live very remote and drive a subaru forester All Wheel Drive with winter tyres fitted ... I'm not been big headed but I can get up icy hills and 20 inches of drifting snow. Please readers on here if you can afford winter tyres between November and April it's a must... it may save your insurance premiums. But most importantly save your life and others. Take care and enjoy the weather.
  5. Looking quite snowy for eastern coasts Friday lunchtime. Plus a storm surge .if anyone is familiar with staxton Hill near scarborough blizzards and drifting snow are possible B1249.
  6. As soon as London is forecast a bit of wintery weather. It's mass news. The media is going crazy Why. That's the M25 closed then with 2cm of slush. If London got snow like parts of Northern Scotland get the country would be Bankrupt.
  7. Do you guys think this could be the next named storm for the uk if it was to materialise at T+204 hrs.
  8. Interesting ecm and GFS. At what point will we see weather warnings for much of the country including London area. Still FI to a point. But it's not as if these runs have all of a sudden sprung up. There's been a hint of colder weather on and off since the 29th of December for mid Jan.maybe coincidence .or just the way it is. All positive for now . T+144 HRS looking good for Western areas and surprises for other areas . Excuse my poor science but I like to keep my posts of an easy read for all to read and understand. As there is just as many readers as posters. The chart below shows wintery showers feeding south. Most places would be unlucky to miss a snow showers by day or night. Recent ground frosts have helped lower soil temps to . And the seas around the uk are cooler than this time last year too.
  9. Are we back on course for next Monday. With a gradual feed of wintery showers moving south... I have my own theory why there's been a pause in the blocking on the last 48hrs.and the latter blocking disappearing .. it could be with the current 1040mb sat in the Atlantic and the models sinking it south to quickly .. but I won't pretend I'm an expert..... If the blocking was to progress at T+204 hrs I'd like to think we'd have several days of wintery weather with squally ppn and winds. All FI at the moment but steady as she goes.... Happy new year to all on here to readers and posters.
  10. At least I'll be able to get the BBQ out this winter. I think our mild winters recently are due to Donald Trumps flatulence. I can't think of what else it could be.
  11. I'm struggling to get excited about a few cold days of sleet . I must be missing something here .
  12. Looking at the cracking set of charts from ECM and GFS. any deep lying snow that falls and settles on exposed hills and lower regions and the end of next week is that if the wind picks up above 28mph we will start to see fantastic drifting snow and blizzards. Looking forward to the 06z . And stocking up on logs for my log burner. Happy model watching.
  13. I know what you mean.. I drive a subaru forester All Wheel Drive with winter tyres I have to in my location. A posh Audi or BMW would be inappropriate and i would inevitably get stuck. The subaru foresters are an amazing car in the snow the best ever imo.
  14. I've noticed that sometimes even with a northerly flow high pressure there's been some quite beefy snow showers moving down the north Sea coastal areas even as far down of the Kent coast.. January 1995 was a classic for my neck of the woods I think there's going to be a few pleasant surprises for coldies in the coming days or so.. I wouldn't be to disappointed if I lived down south with today's 06z. If it's a wintery mix you like.
  15. I've noticed the chart below is 1045mb. From previous years of charts/ model watching these are very stubborn to shift so I'd say anything up to T+156 hrs is subject to a change. I'm hoping the 1045mb high doesn't sink south. But at the same time I can't see much north east movement just yet. But around the 3rd of January I don't think the snow showers moving of the north Sea will just be exclusively for costal districts . Very interesting times ahead indeed.
  16. I live near Goathland it can be sleeting in pickering and 3" of snow up here. Love your post BTW. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.
  17. If this chart was to pull off for around new years day my neck of the woods could have travel disruption and some of the snow showers moving well inland. Possibly getting into central and some southern areas. Still to early to pin point exact areas. But something to bear in mind.
  18. Sorry can't really get excited at a short bout of fog and frost.
  19. Currently 7.oc. brisk wind hoping for a few mild days to get my farm trailer serviced.
  20. Nice looking charts the 18z and 00z. Hope it's still showing Christmas day within T+156hrs. if it pulls of New year travelling could become hazardous.
  21. I'm expecting a mild wet winter with a few cold days but nothing exciting.
