  1. The BBC forecast this afternoon suggests we could do well with snow from Thursday evening onwards. Same areas that got the snow recently are most at risk (lucky!)
  2. Still snowing here, although not as intense.
  3. How long did the snow last for you stormforce?
  4. Snowing heavy again here, noticeable increase in wind gusts as well. What's the chances of some sort of freak convective cooling keeping this snow going all day? That'd be some Craic. Still v chilly outside.
  5. The morning after the night before. Great scenes. Caught a snap of a robin on my fence this morning as well as a snowy back garden.
  6. This afternoon is going to be interesting. The aassociated precipitation is due to hit at around 2pm with snowfalling on it's leading edge. I wonder how long we can maintain snow from it? Would all the lying snow in the North west reduce dew points enough to prolong it?
  7. After what appears to have been a quiet night, blizzard conditions have set in here. Full on white out with a huge snow system moving directly west to east from Donegal. Edit: great photos Ronan. Derry city appears to have been the absolute sweet spot for alligning snow showers. Not too many times Derry city would top the snow tables!
  8. Some shots from my back garden (cheers Pom)
  9. Looking at the radar and the showers really stacking up down the country. Making a bee line straight for the North west. Great times.
  10. Looks like a beast of a snow storm is heading directly for the North west. Moving through N connaught at the minute. Looking real good! http://m.accuweather.com/en/gb/omagh/bt78-1/weather-radar/330131
  11. Hammering it down now in Omagh. Good 2-3 inches. Thought it was never going to come!
  12. At last. Snow lying and heavy fall at the Min here in mid Tyrone. Looking at forecast there apappearshe proper falls due to begin at 4-5am. Hopefully a good covering to wake up too.
  13. Absolutely drenched outside. Not looking good at all for lying snow.
  14. Would want a good drop in temp when this rain band moves through. Doesn't feel like snow at all outside at the minute!
  15. Already snow falling here in Omagh (approx 90m asl). Looking good for this evening into tomorrow.
  16. Hi Everyone, complete novice here but have noticed a chart IDO posted this morning regarding the model outputs for Wednesday/Thursday's storm. nmmuk-2-72-0.png nmmuk-11-72-0.png I notice that there are quite cold temperatures still hanging around the North West. What are your opinions on the likelihood of the precipitation associated with this event turning to snow in these areas? Are there other factors associated with a storm system (outside of atmospheric temps, dew points etc) that would impact on the precipitation type?
  17. Their report from 9pm showed much more intensive (and prolonged)snow on Tuesday compared to what they had forecast for Saturday. Plus, looking at the models, the upper atmosphere temperatures appear to be colder. Even more exciting is they appear to tentatively suggesting the heavy precipitation associated with Wednesday's storm could turn to snow. That could really pile up the levels! Looks like it's due to start tomorrow evening, won't get anything done in work now tomorrow with forecast watching!
  18. Looking good for us is Mid Tyrone. Had a look through the forecast models and most of them have us in -8 uppers at 1pm on Tuesday. No wonder the BBC forecast has us barely scraping 1 degree in the afternoon. I am a complete novice, but looking ahead to the storm on Wednesday/Thursday. The models still showing cold uppers. What's the chances the heavy precipitation associated with that massive low could fall as snow?
  19. Lying snow here in Loughmacrory. Looking at the radar there appears to be a significant cluster of showers heading straight at us in mid Tyrone.
  20. According to the BBC hourly forecasts there was a lull in mid afternoon with it picking up again by early evening. If you click on the link below there appears to be a larger precipitation system heading out way around that exact time. http://m.accuweather.com/en/gb/omagh/bt78-1/satellite/330131 Looking further ahead we seem to be set for a good week on the snow front.
  21. Some blizzard here at the minute. Snow settling. Brave? Why is that? Did I break an unwritten rule? Haha.
  22. Some bite in the air this morning compared to last night.
  23. There you are, I am just round the corner from the chapel so I'm a bit higher than I thought. Pomeroy snow, thought you would have been higher with the climb up to Pomeroy from Carrickmore? Then again you do ascend going from the Lough to Carrickmore so they may cancel each other out.
  24. Cheers lads. Pomeroy,I am actually an Omagh blow in, So wouldn't have crossed swords with you on the football field in the Lough! Out of interest, what asl height would Loughmacrory be situated? From your 600ft level I would guess 100-150 metres?
