  1. Met office revised weather warning brings strong winds back inland over N Ireland for this afternoon. This had been rescinded yesterday.
  2. Interesting chart posted on model thread showing ecm snow accumulation. Way out in FI so unlikely to verify but nice to look at What's our view on this Thursday night? Could be snow for us in the north. Touch and go though.
  3. Whoa, crazy squall just went through. Probably the heaviest shower I've seen around here. Was like a tropical storm, crazy rainfall.
  4. Happy Christmas everyone, technically we've a white Christmas here as it is snowing (on the sleety side) although there appears to be a good covering 100 metres or so higher than my location. Good craic on model threads, hopefully it verifies!
  5. A very stormy night and morning! Looking into next week and it appears we could get some joy. Appears to be a change to more regular bursts of PM air. We did very well in NW last year from this set up. Polar Maritime's post on this page looks particularly interesting! https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/84555-model-output-discussion-1st-december-onwards/?page=95
  6. What's our chances of seeing a bit of snow on Christmas eve evening? Weekly BBC forecast showed snow showers moving through after the cold front passes. Models show -4 uppers across most of the north and gradually getting milder through Christmas day. Be a nice surprise to have some white stuff on the ground Christmas morning. Looking ahead it appears that we (and Scotland) stand the best chance of getting more snow through PM incursions.
  7. Interesting tweet from Ian Ferguson this morning, something to cling on to?
  8. I jumped the gun too soon, looks like BBC were correct, that band of ppn slowed dramatically once it hit the border with Ulster! Only moved about 40 miles in 3 hours. Will be touch and go if it falls as snow, temps have risen a good bit in last two hours.
  9. The next band of ppn was due to be reaching me at midday according to BBC forecast. However, it's moving up much quicker, see radar below at 7.45am. What's the chances of this falling as snow as it is still well below freezing outside?
  10. Sorry to hear that Born, some heartless b*stards around.
  11. Models didn't judge the band of PPN well at all, it pushed much further north than anticipated. Not complaining as this sight greeted me this morning. That's three separate days of lying snow in mid Tyrone area at modest altitude.
  12. Plenty of snow this morning in Central Co Tyrone, slight thaw seems to be over now as snow layer crisping up. Will be a hard frost tonight.
  13. Very much like last winter, we did great and everywhere else in UK and Ireland (outside Scotland) was a wipe out. Selfishly delighted! Great pics from yourself, snow seems a bit thicker with you with your extra altitude. Still snowing here now although looks like the edge of the band is pushing through shortly according to radar.
  14. Whoa, that band of precipitation is much higher than forecast. Snow pelting down here, that's three snow days in the last week and a half!
  15. On way back from Belfast and snow was skimpy through dungannon. On the far side it got much heavier. This is my car and surrounding area.
  16. Just drove to Belfast. We had heavy snow at 4.30pm which continued all the way through Pomeroy. Turned to rain before dungannon.
  17. Noticed a great link over in model thread, here are the 850 temps for the centre of Ulster over the coming weeks. Plenty of blues/dark blues popping up. Fingers crossed!
  18. Rookie question here, but what is this chart suggesting? Is it high pressure building up in Atlantic up towards Greenland (blocking) therefore allowing Low pressure systems to flood south from the pole?Edit: oops, the chart didn't show up on my 'quote!' It's from a few pages back, sorry!
  19. Snowing properly here now and stating to whiten up outside.
  20. Roads are treacherous around here now, very icy. Hopefully the cold air remains with us in the morning and gives us some of the white stuff.
  21. Looks like we could have a cm or two in the morning. Snow sticking well now and freezing hard between showers.
  22. Cheers Yarmy and Phil, that'll keep me going for the foreseeable future!
  23. Slightly off topic here but I'm new to this whole game. Are there any good links out there that summarize the model build up to the big freezes of '09 and '10? It would be nteresting to gain an understand of how they developed and were maintained. Cheers.
