  1. Didn't get over, Pom. However, I did see them setting up the spotlights etc yesterday when I had my wee man over at football training. Not that they would have been much help last night, probably would have increased visibility from sweet fe*k all to just fe*k all!! Lowest air temperature in Ireland recorded in Castlederg last night at -4.4 degrees. Still a very heavy frost lying at the minute. Edit: why did my post just change fe*k to stained glass window???
  2. Am I right in thinking the 6Z is radically different due to the deep low west of Greenland blocking height rises moving north?
  3. Most of Ireland and Scotland remain below average every day according to that graphic. What model do they base their forecast on? ECM? The deep cold moving into mainland Europe is encouraging.
  4. Weather company Europe shared this on twitter. Ireland remains below average temperature every day out to the end of the run. Not sure what model they use (assuming ECM as the GFS 6z is showing much colder in early December). Beautiful crisp morning today, going to be even colder overnight tonight and tomorrow.
  5. Sky has completely cleared now between showers and surfaces look to be freezing over, any showers now likely to be snow. However, looking at the radar and they seem to be dying off a bit!
  6. It doesn't feel like it's going to freeze to me, any ppn we've had this evening has been rain, not even a hint of sleet. Is there anywhere you can get an idea of current temperatures around Ireland? BBC only gives Temps from weather stations and those are usually two hours delayed.
  7. Last one from me, had to try out my slow mo function on new phone!
  8. Last video from me, got new phone recently and addicted to the slow mo camera! If this had of been December or January I think we could have done much better. The ice warning didn't materialise for me in the West here as pretty thick cloud cover remained between the showers so prevented a big drop off in temps. Thaw is kicking in rightly now. What pleases me so much is the difference between this November and the last 2/3, I get a feeling that we could all do well over this winter.
  9. We've 2/3 inches here this morning, really heavy shower there an hour ago.
  10. The ppn moving through at the minute is by far the heaviest of the night. It's bound to reach you guys. Gave us a pretty good top up and still falling.
  11. Great resource, I took a rough guess on my height above sea level based on one map I found on Google images. Turns out I was only 2 metres off. Cheers for sharing. What mountain did u head up? over in Donegal or out towards Donemana?
  12. Where'd you get that image, Ronan?
  13. Haha just noticed that there now, up at 105k views now. I wonder does that entitle me to a share of their ad revenue? There are no clear breaks between the showers here in Tyrone which means there's a bit of a thaw setting in. I wonder will that change as the night goes on?
  14. Big chunk of ppn coming your way now, Pomeroy.
  15. Fosty's snow models took a bit of flack earlier in the week but they pretty much nailed our snow this evening to start at approx 6pm. Here is my view now...
  16. Should be hitting you any minute now, Pomeroy. Been snowing roughly here for last 20 mins and lying well on cars and grass. Although my brother saI'd it's only cold rain in Omagh!
  17. Hefty streamer moving east through south ulster at the minute, should hit me in about 20/30 minutes, getting really cold out now! looking forward to tonight!!
  18. Haha I'm taking my wee lad to a party in Beragh tomorrow. If we've any snow I'll fire a few shovel fulls in the boot and throw it round your garden, Pom.
  19. Here's the school run today, was very heavy just before this. could be fun later on!
  20. Snow beginning to fall here now, although the ground is absolutely saturated!! The good thing is the showers are really heavy, if it begins to freeze betweend showers later on we could do quite well!
  21. Interesting days weather coming up on Thursday, hopefully it's not a damp squib!
  22. Look at the very bottom of the graph and there are little snow symbols with associated % risk. Thursday shows 100% but, as with all these models, take it with a healthy dose of salt!
  23. Ah right, cheers MS. Looking at it now in a whole new way! So a raging vortex would have lots of yellow/reds from sea level right up to the top of the atmosphere on the right hand side with blues in the centre?
  24. Hi Guys, some excellent reading in here and over on the model thread as always. However, the colour charts depicting the strat vortex (below) completely stump me. I wonder is there any where I could find a blog/article that explains how to interpret them?
