  1. Radar beginning to pep up to the NW now.
  2. Cheers Steve, excitment building here alright. Freeing up space on the memory card. Working in Leitrim today and heading home around 3/4pm. Showers turning wintry here now. Mix of sleet and hail. Should be fun later.
  3. The BBC week ahead forecast is pretty epic! We could be seeing a lot of the white stuff over the coming days and into next week! http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/42258898
  4. When the slider moves in would decent lying snow cover (ie snow from Thursday/Friday event in NW Ireland) effect the air temps enough to increase the chances of snow falling? Looks like we are on a real knife edge regarding snowfall on Sunday. Although anything on Sunday will be a bonus alongside the upcoming PM shot. Certainly eases the slider stress! Btw, big thanks to all the contributers here as always. I've picked up some real good model reading info on slider events.
  5. What's the thoughts on Sunday's slider? The 18z sends it further north potentially giving us a snow to rain event (heavy snow at 7am but rain at 1pm). It's a tricky one as we don't want it pushing through and catching the mild cone. Hopefully, it comes in and pivots moving SE thereby keeping us on the cold side at all times. Have to say it's absolutely fabulous model watching at the min.
  6. Come on guys, keep the faith! Those automated forecast apps are rubbish in their reliability. Check out this evening's BBC NI weather forecast and the met office below. There'll be very little marginality around on Friday. The strength of the wind appears to send showers right across the country too so vast majority should see something white. Getting excited about potential accumulations in the NW though https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/mobile/video Edit: in fact it looks like we could see snow in the forecast as early as tomorrow afternoon. Im travelling from Manorhamilton in Leitrim back to Tyrone at 4pm. Could be a fun drive!
  7. As mentioned the euro4 models look superb for Thursday into friday. Hegzyy, you forgot to include the 36hr chart for us in the West!
  8. Key time coming into play from the Euro4 hi res model. The pinks starting to show up indicating snowfall. Here's the link to keep an eye on updates tomorrow. Hopefully it starts spreading South and East so more of the folks in here get plenty of the white stuff! http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=euro4&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=-&VAR=prty&HH=48&ARCHIV=0&ZOOM=0&PERIOD=&WMO=
  9. I'd run to the bank all day with that. My Xmas work do that night. A lock-in may be an unavoidable scenario, ah well
  10. Rochey, we'd have swapped a couple of snow events if you could have went easier on us in the Semi final!
  11. My Christmas work do in the Birches hotel in Omagh on Friday. Looks like we'll be snowed in. Ah well, will just have to continue drinking!
  12. The 6z continues the theme of cold and snow for later in the working week. The ens for Omagh highlight the incredible drop in 850 temps, there's almost a 15°C drop in just over 24hrs! Also showing a 95% chance of snow, hoping ECM is better this evening.
  13. Very interesting 6z which would bring very interesting conditions around the 9th with back edge snow and a northerly forming in it's wake. The ens for Omagh show the huge drop in 850s (with the mean dropping from +5 to -5 in 24 hours and the op showing and even wilder swing) when the low drops SE. I know it's one run but this is beginning to pick up momentum and we seem to be in an ideal place if this low transpires and turns wintry,
  14. So that band that's moving through Ulster stretches the whole length of the province apart from one small break which happens to be right over my house haha!
  15. Lovely covering of snow here and snowing lightly as I type. Nice heavy band of showers moving through SW ulster at present. More tasty looking bands coming in behind too.
  16. It's moved through now, the first band was deadly (the YouTube link) with really heavy, fat flakes. The second band wasn't as intense. My kids school is off today for parent teacher meetings and I booked off for annual leave. The kids are loving it, not as much as me though haha!
  17. Snowing lightly here for half an hour. Radar looking great too! @knocker hope you don't mind me sharing your update here in our thread. Sounds great for us in the North Over the next couple of days the UK in an unstable north westerly airstream, courtesy of a deep low around the Norwegian Basin, giving frequent squally showers in the west which in N. Ireland and Scotland will be very frequent and often of snow even down to low levels. In these areas there will also be quite strong winds, The exception to this early on will be the SW & S of England which will be cloudy with sporadic rain. Feeling cold in the blustery wind particularly the further north you go. So on to this morning's gfs Sunday a much quieter day as a ridge pushes in from the west but this is very transitional as by Monday 00 a front and wave depression have already impacted the north west (the low tracking a bit further north than yesterday) accompanied by rain Over the next 24 hours the front traverses the country south east as the low deepens and tracks east into southern Norway. Simultaneously another low has swept in from the north west, phases in with the main trough to the north east, and is over Scotland by Tuesday 00 and this time should dump a fair bit of snow on the high ground, and even lower fround, in N. Ireland and Scotland.
  18. It very slow moving! Im off work today so patiently waiting it's arrival.
  19. Just checked out the window to my NW to be met with this great sight of snow band approaching lit up withthe pinks of dawn...photo doesn't do it justice.
  20. Surely we'll all get something with this....
  21. We've just had our first proper snow shower there. Nothing major but left ground white. Serious frost out there, although there are somepretty cool ice patterns all over the cars.
  22. That shower moved through here earlier but wasn't cold enough for snow. More sleety. Some good charts popping up for the next 48 hrs in the NW.
