    Temp -1 here!!!!no sun!!!!but snow melting!

its odd, the showers are steaming through as well. Just had an intense downpour then slows down again. Partially settles in places.

I think it is still early days, the streamers of the North sea just keep coming.  Not seeing any of this as a downgrade...yet!

Plus the short range models do have this down at all. Weather apps are going to be way off too.

At the moment there is another streamer heading right this way via Leics-toh!

  2. Anyone else looking at the precipitation charts?  Arpege v Icon V Euro4?   Not showing much going forward after today.  Guessing showers will continue to pop up though which is probably why the yellow warning is in place.

Still light snow on and off here.  A bit meh to be honest so far!  Radar looking good NE of East Mids though.

  3. Real uncertain picture IMBY - Both Arpege and EURO4 have little precipitation for tomorrow after whatever we get overnight. These do not pick up shower/streamer pop ups.  This could be an unpredictable few days and looks quite cold ❄️

    Arpege tomorrow AM.

    Euro4 same timeframe

    then Monday AM!

Overall like Matt mentioned early, the models have been showing “constantly” good intensity, giving decent snowfall for the Midlands later this evening and the BBC weather not mentioning this

Significant decent cold outputs, consistently showing cold for next few days! Would not be surprised if we see more warnings yet! 6z soon....☃️

  5. The colder air moves South and more widely into the Midlands according to GFS 6z by about Midnight Sat.  Interest will more likely be after then.

Euro4 Similar timescale shows some precip around but moves South?

    Arpege - more widespread

Sat night into sunday is looking interesting now as the gfs is showing the same as icon. It could be rain to snow event with the east of our region doing very well could be a nice little suprise! The beeb are now showing a period of snow for coventry over 8 hours sat into Sunday!

Yes, Arpege and EURO4 has heavier precipitation Midnight through early hours.   Definitely interesting.   Not sure what models are going for dry but maybe location dependent.  SE Midlands looking ok too.  I think this one is going to be a nowcast radar watch more than anything!

  7. I wouldn’t worry about discussion in the mod thread, it is often from an IMBY perspective, or deliberate trolling.  We have some of the most impressive charts we could expect in the real near term, from Sunday onwards! Maybe not whole region but a good period of cold and chance of snow coming up.

Anyone predicted warm SW flow yet?

Its definitely look alike we will get some cold in, I suppose it will all be about the precipitation and where thay goes, need a strong wind for showers to get as far as Hinckley and still have to ummf in them. Fingers crossed. Better thay mild weather for sure.

If we go from the 6z GFS this morning, we will be in for some wintry weather Sunday onwards!   But usual caveats apply so I'm going to not even think about it until Saturday/Sunday morning...

Quick question, I keep hearing on the model tread, great from the Midlands North. Without stating the obvious what does that exactly mean. The Midlands is a big place. Does that mean Warwick North, Birmingham North or even Derby North? Or all of them? From what I have seen from the models northern England looks great but maybe not greaat for snow for the Midlands?

I find North Mids is mostly seen as Stoke, Derby and locations generally parallel.   I would not worry about predictions in mod thread too much, it's always on,off, too far North, South, East or West based on their location. For me too early to tell for next weekend yet but at a guess is looking good!
