I could be wrong but I don't think they will reach us as they are weakening as they head inland.
Yeah, it looks weak. Not even as far as Stoke!

The dew point here is already minus 5.2'c!! and the Cheshire gap shows a bit of development atm
Just seen the radar, couple of patches heading inland. Any ideas how far it would get?

Merry Christmas! Cold or mild, it’s just weather and hope for a chance of snow in the new year!

General sense of model output being a mid 'meh' for the Christmas period.
UKMO 0z 25th Not great .... try again..
EECM same ish period...looking crud
GFS ...is trying its best but..
Boxing day ...colder, so you never know. All looks a bit messy and complex picture upstream best left to pros and more knowledgeable to fathom.. I guess the models are just that, compute models and the output is what it is.
Happy Thursday before Christmas all!

Sometimes, we look for the impossible. Those idea sets of synoptics that will produce wintery nirvana, Northerlies, easterlies. !947/62 or 2010 etc.. I like to look at what we have, glass half full and that.
Mild incursions ahead yes, but not warm or endless SW.
Christmas Day GFS 6z, not that mild.. then a couple of colder days follow. (If it verifies)
ECM similar period no as nice
UKMO - bit better.
Its not trending all out mild is my point. still a lot to look out for (keeping my expectations in check though..)

real frosty start again, has been a good run of frosty weather. Local snow shield fully operational it seems...

189+ GFS 6Z
Less certain after 20/21 so hopefully trends cooler after Monday... which is about as much as I can sum up in my non expert view!
-
absolutely clear sky tonight and temps dropping. As others have said, could be a cold one!

No chance...GFS 12z Christmas eve. Note the face laughing at the UK hovering over Norway? Taunting us.

-4 and still a decent frost about. Possibly some snow Saturday for W mids before mild(er) air arrives. I am not sure anything past next Monday is really fully resolved!

Talking about upcoming 'less cold' period.
I find it funny that when 'mild' is used it does not necessarily mean shorts weather does it? 'mild' or 'milder' v less cold or not as cold. How best to describe it?

And on that same Tuesday, the 12z GEFS as us buried ( battle ground Midlands )
spotted the potential next Tuesday, it could vanish into thin air before then (as these often do) but really hope not. looks good for Midlands! Might be something in the shorter term too but not before that 'milder blip'
