  1. Just had a very very light snow shower here, more graupel really! Temp @ 1.5 and DP -1. Week ahead looking more interesting by the hour! Matt.
  2.  Love it steve! I have the same depth so you are not alone! Hopefully in a few days we realy will have something to measure. Temp down from 1.7 to 1.2c here now with more clouds rolling in, still nothing falling from them though! Matt.
  3. Currently 1.7c, DP -1, Windchill -2 and no Snow!! Woke up to a sprinking this morning, was more like graupel but either way it still left a thin layer. Showers today seem to be too far to my east and don't look like spreading inland. Its clouded over a few times but thats about it. Matt. :winky:
  4. Just turned the outside light on and we have Heavy RAIN ! Temp 2.7c DP -0c. Hows the next band looking which was forcast to give a few cm's later this evening? Is that still the case and if so what time are we looking or it to arrive? Matt.
  5. Its warmed up a fair bit here in the last hour or so. All morning it has been clear blue skies with frost and the sprinkling of snow we got on new years eve, now its clouded over and the ice and snow has all but melted!! Currently sitting @ 3.0c with a DP of 0c. I can't see us getting anything tonight either looking at the direction of the band currently over the NE. Matt.
  6. -1.3 here now with DP at -3. Going to be a very cold night i think! Looking forward to tomorrow evening/night when the white stuff should start to fall! Matt.
  7. Happy New Year to all! Awoke to a slight dusting here this morning which was nice, clear blue sky now but it looks lovely with the thin layer of snow. :o Will be interesting to see what the next 7 days holds for us! Matt.
  8. Just started snowing here in Heybridge, Essex. Fairly moderate at the moment but not sticking as the ground is very wet from all the rain! If it gets heavier it should start to stick though. Matt.
  9. Well that was a bit of a suprise! Light rain around 330pm quickly turned to heavy wet snow. Came down so heavy that it even settled on the main roads really quickly, must admit as much as i love snow i would like to see the back of it for the time being! I drive a van and am fed up spinning the wheels everytime i pull away, it was so slippy that a set of traffic lights went green and by the time id reached them they were amber, luckily i made it through! We still have several inches lying and that can stay as long as the roads melt! Matt.
  10. Well after last nights excitement it turned out to be rather a damp squib for me! It looked like i was in a prime location for a pasting but when i turned the outside light on at midnight it was RAINING <_< ! With a temp of -0.6 and a DP of -2 I was totally shocked ! It changed to snow after 10mins or so but altough the flakes were a good size it was only falling very lightly, it must have stopped almost straight away as we have no new covering this morning, a few frozen flakes on the cars and pond ice but thats all. My sister in Colchester had around another inch! Currently -2.2 here with blue skies all round. Matt.
  11. 12:15pm and it's still -1.6 with a DP of -3 in Heybridge, Essex. Still a few inches of snow on the ground and the side roads are sheet ice. Should be interesting to see what we get tonight, the only melt we have had is the house roofs with the sun on them. Matt.
  12. Morning Snowballz, Welcome to the board! Your dad may run into some snow later this afternoon/evening as the band moves south, But WHY would anyone want to watch a spurs game . It should'nt reach your area until the early hours of the morning, there's a good chance you should see something from it. Everywhere is still white here, a very very cold day and its a picture perfect scene at the moment! Matt.
  13. Really? That suprises me. It snowed for hours in Braintree which isn't really that far. Everything was covered, even the roads! Was quite suprised that it stuck so well, started to rain when i left at around 5pm but everywhere was still white. Matt.
  14. I also suffer badly with hayfever but as long as i take all my lotions and potions wheni get up in the morning i am normally fine all day! Eye drops are brill, normally last all day but keep them with me incase they start to itch. The nose spray works wonders and keeps it clear all day on most occasions, unless the pollen is really bad. And the tablets work as well. Took me ages to find ones that did work but i now use Telfast on prescription and they seem to do the trick! Midges are a pain but i can live with them i it means nice weather! Matt
  15. Still snowing heavily here and all surfaces except the roads are covered! Im glad the roads are too wet! Still a very suprising evening given the forcast this morning was for rain! Matt
  16. Bit of a suprise i must admit! Forcast on the radio this morning on the way to work called for rain this evening and overnight, then as i made my last delivery at 4pm it started to snow! Turned on radio again to hear of a severe weather warning! We now have a covering on most surfaces and the flakes are huge! Matt.
  17. Just to echo the thoughts of others, a very interesting read Paul and i appreciate the time taken to provide such a detailed explanation! At least now i know why that evening was so frustrating! The radar was truely puzzling for all concerned and those polystyrene balls were a pain in the you know what! Matt.
  18. One of us must have our very own micro-climate!! Not a sniff of snow here last night, moderate rain was all we had which had all frozen when i went to work at 6am . Just heavy rain here at the moment as it has been all day, there was a few sleety sploges on the windscreen around the Colchester area early but thats was all. Some places may see snow and if you had an inch last night i can understand your optimism. For here though i can see nothing but heavy rain, and judhing by the radar im in for plenty more of the same! Matt.
  19. Around 0.000001% im afraid. My dewpoint is 3c and im in fairly rural Essex. Rained here all day so in the unlikely event that anything white does fall from the sky it will be washed away on impact. Flooding will be a real issue though! Matt B)
  20. Rained all day here and the roads are already flooded, even the A12 was underwater in places! Going by the colours on the radar worse is to come, flooding is definatly going to be a major problem down here over the next 24hrs. Temp: 3c DP: 3c so def just heavy rain all night for us!! Matt
  21. Heavy sleet here around an hour ago although its not coming down half as hard as it was! Looks as though flooding is going to be a real problem here over the next few days, some roads are already flooded due to the snow melt and the saturated ground. Not going to be a pleasant few days, and i certainly think we have seen the last of the snow. Matt
  22. Snow still lying down here, Infact in Braintree theres still a good few inches of the stuff! Paths and Roads round the housing estates are lethal though Saw 4 gritters in 5 minutes on the A12 around 7pm, they all had the plows attached still and by the amount of grit they were laying you would think they were expecting feet of snow as opposed to the rain forcast. Up at 6 again for work so will wait and see what we get, fully expecting rain, and judging by the radar it will be rather heavy rain! B) Matt B)
  23. Well what a day! Work has been horrendous, Van had to be dug out 3 times and that was just on housing estates in Braintree! Must have been close to a foot of snow and definatly the most since the late 80's, it continued all day. Turned to rain now and tbh im rather glad, driving today has been no fun at all and as much as i love the snow i can't wait for the roads to clear up again. What sort of depths have people recorded to save me reading the whole topic? Matt
  24. Well thats me done for tonight. I will be up at 5am to see what awaits me for my day on the roads! Paul i hope you see something between now and tomorrow, the radar is truely a mystery! Matt
