  1. Really heavy here now, absolutely wonderful after all the rain earlier! Proof that with soaking wet ground you can still get settling snow! First pic taken at 08:12 vs just now 1hr 10 mins later.
  2. I'm under the green and we are getting heavy snow, have been for over 1hr. At 6am though it was lashing with rain and the ground was soaked!
  3. Considering it was lashing with rain less than 2hrs ago I wasn't expecting this scene! Looking rather winter out there now And I'm at sea level on the estuary.
  4. Just popped in from the SE thread and the heavy rain from this morning has now turned to heavy snow, covering the soaking wet ground readily. Much to my suprise may i add, as I'm at sea level in Essex.
  5. Just woke up again and to my suprise the rain has turned to moderate snow! Starting to settle even on the soaking wet ground. Long may it continue.
  6. Just woke up to check and we have...........RAIN Sod it back to bed!
  7. -1.3 here at the minute with a fairly thick frost already. I'm more optimistic of Snow tomorrow after seeing the latest charts and hearing opinions from those more knowledgeable on this thread, although of course part of me still expects to wake up rain!
  8. My iPhone weather app has now changed from Rain to Snow for most of the day tomorrow so i'll take that!
  9. These BBC forcasts do my head in. On the 20:55 just now she's got a temp displayed as 0c and all the precip is blue, so rain! But then when she runs it forward the temperature increases but there's now a fair bit of white, so snow! We are less than 12hrs away and neither us, or the "experts" seem to have any clue if we're getting rain or snow
  10. Could be some serious totals in our region on monday after all the poxy rain! Hopefully the Low sinks south a little, i really don't need to be soaking wet and freezing cold all day long
  11. I too was on the BBC snow watch board! Was it Bill Farkin that keep banging on about the grebes? Pretty sure it was Then there was the "Will it snow in Carlisle" fella and MrCrazySnowFan from Looootttonnnss! Back to the weather, I can't get excited about this weekend at all. We seem to be instore for cold rain now and not snow of the mod thread is to be believed. Cold and wet just doesn't float my boat
  12. 100% agree with you here. I'm honestly expecting absolutely ZILCH here in essex. The Mod thread 2 days ago there was talk of 10 inches+ for E/A and the S/E now theres talk of heavy cold rain and most snow charts seem to have dropped any form of accumulations for us down here at all. We had a few flurries last week which was nice to see but this is looking like a damp squib in my opinion
  13. NovemberDecember 2010 stands out the best in recent memory, we had just under 1 foot here thanks to a Thames Streamer! Going back further the 2nd best in my life time was February 1990 or 1991, can't quite remember the exact date i was only 7. I Remember being in the back of our car driving to Luton airport down the A12 with just a tractor in front of us clearing a path. And the terminal building had the biggest icicles I've ever seen, getting on for 2ft easy! We never seem to get Icicles anymore, I remember houses were covered in them and i used to lean from my bedroom window, snap them off and bring them inside
  14. We had snow this morning and during the day but the last shower was bloody rain/sleet
  15. If thats all snow on the radar Norwich must be getting an absolute pasting! Cold and dry here although cloud building.
  16. Just to add it was also settling on all surfaces, only about 1 flake thick all over but enough to see where cars had driven down the road. Fairly large flakes. Oddly though the sky was 95% clear!
  17. Just got in the van for work and we have snow! Gently falling in the headlights but it's 100% snow, not rain or sleet. Hopefully a bit more today.
  18. Indeed I'm in Maldon too and I'm not suprised that we top the charts. I'd be interested to know Brentwoods total which is where I've been working outside all day!
  19. Well it rained here (and still is) since just before midday and it's been heavy all day with real bursts of torrential rain! This must be close to setting a record surely? Especially for august. Most roads are flooded, even main roads and drains have been blowing the manhole covers off. I work outside and in 10 years I've not had a day where I've been as wet as today, it really has been constant and heavy. Hopefully i stay dry tomorrow!
  20. Snow falling here but the temperature is slowly rising so the icing sugar dusting we had overnight is now all but gone. 3 days of falling snow for us this winter, better than recent years but still absolutely abysmal and that's another winter gone by with nothing to show! Roll on the warmth of spring and summer now, this grey damp and dreary garbage is going me in. Thankfully 2 weeks in the sun from next friday and hopefully by the time I'm back spring will be starting to spring!
  21. Snow just started here in Heybridge, Essex. Very light but proper snowflakes, no rain or sleet involved and I'm right on the estuary here. Be nice if we could at least get a dusting come the end of this cold snap
  22. A truly raw day out there today, the coldest by far for many a year. It's days like today which make me wish I didn't work outside! Even though spring is still a fair way off i'm ready for it now and am ready to say goodbye to winter 16/17. Cold & Grey just doesn't float my boat and it's snow that we are all really after in the end, and as with the last few years that has been lacking bar a little bit of slush the other week. Roll on the the spring warmth and long summer days!
  23. You really couldn't make it up could you! Everywhere in the freezer including Snow near Alicante in Spain.
  24. Stopped her now and that will be our lot for this spell. This mornings snow must have been more marginal than last nights as it was actually heavier but has just left everywhere soaking wet! hopefully we don't have to wait too long for our next shot.
