  1. I'm driving Essex-Huddersfield-Leeds-Essex tomorrow for work and after seeing the latest BBC forecast I'm pretty damn certain I'll see some snow, and more likely than, not lots of it! M
  2. You did indeed hear cheering Tom! I've turned a £100 FREE bet into a lovely £650. Tuesday was fantastic, Wednesday/Thursday poor and lost most of Tuesdays winnings and today was simply superb and just topped it off with a 14/1 winner then a 9/1 winner on the AW. I will add though it seldom works out this way! :/ Back to the weather and its currently wet but slightly milder than recently. Odd snow drift still hanging on in fields etc which is surprising given we had nowhere near as much as some places. Anyway if there's no more snow I'm ready for spring now, roll on the warmth! M
  3. Morning All. A stunning day here at present with just the odd passing cloud, and by god that suns got some lovely warmth to it! Having said that there is still plenty of hail left on the ground in shaded areas from yesterday evenings showers! The paths and even side roads were lethal this morning where it had frozen over night but it was nice waking up to a crisp morning with everything white, even if it wasn't snow! M
  4. We have nothing Bone chilling cold and a howling wind but no snow other than a very slight dusting from last night/today. However the icicles are very impressive, not seen so many for many years! As a gauge of how cold it is I went through a large puddle earlier which sprayed over my van and 5 mins later when I stopped for fuel the whole lot was frozen, something I've never seen before! M
  5. Wow quite suprising! Looked out of the window around 40 minutes ago to find everywhere bone dry. Looked out again 15 mins ago and everywhere is covered and its coming down heavy, although very small flakes! Looks like very dry snow and the flakes are tiny but the intensity is such that its settled quickly! M
  6. Firstly John I too am sorry for your loss, just reading your post brought a tear to my eye as it just reminds us all how important and precious our families are and that we should cherish every moment we are given. Back to the weather and things next week look like becoming interesting again re cold and snow potential! It's a little ironic that possibly the best and last cold spell of the winter will be while I'm on holiday! I love snow as much as the next person but I fly to Barbados Thursday morning and the last thing I want is a delay getting there! After I'm safely airborne I hope you all get buried in snow and take plenty of pics so I can see what I'm missing!! M
  7. Right thats me done! Snow stopped, lots of dripping so i expect the tiny covering i have got will be gone by morning. Roads and paths have already melted and are soaking wet! I seriously need to move to Boston!! Night all. M
  8. Could you blow a little harder Paul? It's all but stopped here now! Places a few miles away have got 5 times what i've got here and it's gone that way all winter! M
  9. Paul can you send it about 15 miles due north of your location? It's been tiny tiny flakes here for the last 30 mins or so and although everything is white i doubt its barely measurable, infact its melting on the roads and paths:( M
  10. Heavy here now and all surfaces are now covered! Very surprised given how wet everywhere was but its great to see even if it won't be on the ground for long. M
  11. All snow here now and settling readily on everything bar the paths and roads. If it keeps up for a few hours this might not turn out too bad an event! M
  12. Maybe it's just me but I can't see much in the way of settling snow at all for later today where I am, let alone 5-10 cms! It's currently grey and wet and doesn't even feel that chilly. I hope I'm proved wrong as its only a gut feeling but I won't be getting my hopes up! M
  13. This really is amazing viewing for snow fans and something I would love to experience! I visit America a lot but only ever states that receive no snow . Some of the drifts in this storm will be biblical with gusts to 97mph and snowfall rates of upto 6 inches per hour. Can we watch the US weather channel anywhere on the net? I'm glued to that when I'm in the states and their severe weather coverage is second to none. M
  14. Don't forget the cheap foam mats for people to sleep on, you could do a roaring trade!😄 As you're sure the 21st will be fine I will be holding you personally responsible for any snow related delay to my holiday, infact you can even pop down to LGW and clear the runway all by yourself using just Triggers broom! 😛 M 😎
  15. All I want is the 21st to be snow free, at least at Gatwick so I can get to Barbados! M
  16. Snowing quite hard in Braintree! Settling on the cars in the traffic jam i'm sat in!
  17. It's little wonder people can get confused and/or disappointed when utter tosh such as this is spouted continually on the forum! The other night it was 12-15" and tonight it's up to 10cms. As CV said, it's wearing a little thin now! On a more realistic note the bbc forecast for friday looks good with regards to frontal snow before it turns to rain. M
  18. Just put the patio light on expecting to see it stopped and the sky clear and it's still snowing after 14 hours! Everything looks so tranquil! M
  19. I'm in Lawling Avenue mate. Def won't be a snow day for me as the day is already planned out so I'll have to battle my way through! Will be interesting to see the snow depths in the areas I'm going to though as they had a massive load Friday as well whilst we had next to nowt! M
  20. The joys of the youths of today Shrimper sadly, trespassing onto your property to needlessly destroy something. It may only be a snowman but things like this make me irate! I understand your annoyance! M
  21. Well after missing out on Fridays event, today has been excellent! Snow started at 08:10 this morning and is still going now, albeit very light. To have over 12 hours of snow is fantastic and certainly welcome after the dismal winter thus far! Only slight downer is we never seemed to be under the heavier radar echoes and the snow has been very very fine so much like Shrimper I guess we have around 7cms, possibly 8 but certainly more than the 2-5cms the BBC predicted last night! Work tomorrow could be interesting though, my route is Home-High Wycombe-Oxford-Reading-Bracknell-Crawley-Home so lets hope the gritters have been out!! M
  22. I really don't get the BBC forecasts! Just seen the 21:55 forecast with Alex Deakin I think it was, and he's putting 2-4 cms across the SE & EA with a yellow warning. A few pages back on here Mr Murr said latest charts were showing precip of upto 15mm which is 19cms! How can there be such a massive difference? And for what it's worth I trust and value Steve's input on here far more that any other forecast! M
  23. Lol @ the "Cocaine Dusting"! Covering on all surfaces here now after having zilch all day long! Radar looks promising but it's time for bed!
  24. I'm in Maldon Paul so i do hope you're right! Today has been dismal thus far. Hopefully a suprise come the morning! M
  25. Lol well another disappointment! Arrived home from work to no snow at all, indeed family confirmed they had not seen ONE flake all day long!! Been to a few areas with decent snow cover today but yet again this part of Essex got zilch. Sunday's stuff will be rain or sleet so no interest there for me. Cold spell has been a complete waste of time and its even more baffling that I live in the east and the cold came from the bleeding east!! M
