Well the last few days have been totally miserable and flooding will become a real problem! Fed up with all this sleet, even this morning we had heavy sleet but it was more rain with just a few flakes. The rivers are fit to burst and the fields are saturated! Sick of this manky weather now, the winter has been the best for many years but lets now look forward to some spring sunshine! Flying to Barbados on wednesday morning from Gatwick so i most definatly do not want anymore snow that may delay my flight! Matt.

Incredible how much it has weakened over the last few hours :o . Going by the Meto radar at 4pm there were Reds/Whites/Pinks in the band which indicates super heavy precip, but now on the 830pm radar its mainly blue with a few green bits. Can't see this being anything special at all to be honest! Temp is 1.2 & DP is -1 so thats all good but will the band have the legs to make it? I think not! Mind you we did have 2hs of light snowfall in Braintree this morning and i was'nt expecting that so who knows ! Matt.

lol i know the feeling, the patio flood light has really gone through it ! Coldest its been all day now at 0.9c but we currently have RAIN with the odd flake! Earlier on it was 1.7c and the DP was 0c which it still is and it was all snow, and quite heavy.........Just can't understand it at all! Matt.

Chucking it down again here now, its been on and off all morning. Thaw seems to be slowing slightly although we are still at 1.5c & DP 0c. Fingers crossed to see a bit more later on. Matt.

Errr Snowing again here for the umpteenth time today, big flakes and moderate intensity. And the METO radar says..............................No precip near me! Whats up with the Radars? Matt. :lol:

Morning all! Well what a suprise that was, the Beeb & Sky forcast turned out to be utter tosh ! Thaw well underway here and has been all night long, its amazing how much has melted since yesterday. Probably left with 2 inches at best and the garden bench, which last night had a good 5 inches on it is now almost dry...... Can't see anything decent falling today, temp is at 1.5c and DP at 0c. Well its just about time for bed i reckon. :unsure: Lets face it, there's nothing on the radar and although there is precip over Germany whats the point in clutching at straws and hanging on to the hope of it reaching us?. As Steve has said it has been a great cold spell for many with lots of places seeing the most snowfall for donkeys years! We know its going to melt at some stage so whats the point in getting upset over it . I really don't understand Francis and the Beed, Francis is normally pretty good but the forcasts just seem odd, 10-20cms of snow over night, just can't see it! We are now at 1.1c with a DP of -1, just opened the window and its Drip Drip Drip, but hey ho it was nice while it lasted! Nite All. Matt.

Must admit im thinking the same! That blob over the north Netherlands could be it but then the winds are currently NNE so in theory that should just slip down into northern France. I was expecting to see some massive band heading for us the way Francis was talking on sky earlier . Unless, as you question something is going to pep up over the north sea. Any have any idea if something is going to appear?? I just can't see it! Matt

It seems to get more confusing! Had a lovely afternoon here with around 3 hours of moderate to very heavy blowing snow, around another 3-4cms i would say. Just seen Francis Wilson on Sky and his forcast is totally different from the dreary chap that was just on the beeb! Francis is going for 4-5inches across parts of Essex and the SE overnight and the other chap said a few showers or flurries, i mean come on, thats a huge difference !! Whats it to be? Anybody have a clue ? Matt

Flakes are much bigger here now and it really is belting it down! Temp dropped to 0c DP still -3 Winchill -7. Im assuming the main band is going to move due west as opposed to NW or SE? Matt

Very heavy snow here now, smallish flakes but really blowing around in the wind!! Radar seems to show the area getting more intense which is good news. Im assuming that this is the trough ahead of the main band? Any updates on the main band its self, Steve M, Paul? Matt

Morning all. Quite a suprise when i woke up this morning, we must have 2 inches of fresh snow! Radar did'nt look that great last night but it must have chucked it down at some point during the early hours. Had a few showers this morning, one of which was really heavy around 40 mins agon. Hopefully we should see some more as the day progresses! Temp -0.8 DP -4 Windchill -7 :o :o . Matt. :o

Good idea with the new thread Paul, bit easier to keep up with! :o Anyway, not hopeful of any further snowfall tonight really. It seems the showers are staying just off of the Essex coast and heading into Kent. Currently -2.8 DP -4 and Windchill -8 . Roads are really bad, black ice will be a major problem tonight even on the main routes! Hows it looking for sunday? Some are saying essex will miss out others are mentioning that a foot of snow is coming :o ! Matt

Just looked out the window and its hammering down! Even the road is now covered again, it was mainly slush that had re-frozen. Temp currently at 0.2c DP -1 Windchill -6 . Matt.

Im in Maldon Paul, well Heybridge actually but its only at the bottom of the hill! :lol: I can confirm that after consulting my local lampost i can report that there is currently.........................Bugger all falling from the sky! The lampost also tells me we are going to miss out on anything substantial! Funny how at the weekend we were in for Armageddon and now we are due next to nothing compared with the 30cms+ some parts have received. Matt.

Evening all! Im somewhat confused about this cold spell ! Over the weekend everything pointed to the SE/EA getting a real pasting and being the worst affect part of the country. This thread was non stop and in the others people were moaning that all the snow was going to be in the SE! Tuesday was forcast to be Armaggedon with snow through the rest of the week. Today is tuesday and i have not seen a flake ! Having just watced the 6.25 BBC forcast they have said that the snow will stay WEST of London with up to 40cms possible, whilst the rest of EA/SE may have a few showers, with possibly a band of snow over us tomorrow lunch time. So whats changed that much that parts of the NE/NW/SW Midlands and Scotland have seen epic snowfalls and we are still dry and cold with perhaps some snow tomorrow? Just Curios!! Matt.
