  1. A few flakes blowing in the wind at the moment. The band seems to be moving slower than forcast as last night the BBC had it gone by 10am but all the heavy PPN is still to my north. Hopefully we'll manage another dusting when it arrives.
  2. Still snowing and surprisingly after the torrential rain it is settling nicely! Such a lovely sight after all these years without even a flake. A very marked temperature drop too, feels bitter out there now.
  3. Torrential rain now turning here to Snow here now in Maldon, Essex. Was sat in the car and one minute rain in the headlights, the next minute big flakes of snow. A very quick change! Nice to see it falling, lets hope for a covering at least on the card/sheds/grass N
  4. Well what a great evenings entertainment weathwise! From around 7pm we had distant rumbles for about 45 minutes untill the sky got darker and darker and the wind got up, then all of a sudden BOOM! Frequent CG lighting, huges crashes of thunder and absolutely torrential rain, the drains and gutters can't cope. Still raining now with the odd lightning strike but the worst has definitely passed. One of the best & Longest storms in many years!
  5. It's been thundering here for almost an hour, the lighting has been spectacular and the bolts have quite a deep blue tint to them! Torrential rain also, very unexpected but welcome nonetheless!
  6. The storms here for the past 2 hours are fantastic and after seeing the BBC forcasts all day they are also a real suprise!! We have constant lighting which i've not seen in the UK for donkeys years and the thunder is truely banging and crashing now, if anything its getting louder! Normally only witness storms like these whilst im in Florida so its fantastic to get them on a similar scale here. Interestingly though most of the lightning seems to be cloud to cloud with only the odd CG strike. M
  7. I've just put the garden light on to go to the bin & everywhere is white! Lol must of came down whilst eating tea. There were some big showers over the estuary as i came home so it seems that one of those has hit us! Still a very dissapointong cold spell and winter in general with regards to snowfall and like many others i now long for the warmth of spring!!
  8. Started as sleety rain here but is now proper snow and the flakes are huge! It's starting to settle on cars and grass but sadly most other surfaces are soaked so it's melting on impact.
  9. Yay finally some good size flakes coming down and at a fair intensity too! Maybe we could end up with a light covering but I just wish it started earlier as I'm knackered and about to go to bed lol.
  10. Agree with this. The earthcam app is fantastic and there are plenty of cams around New York area which should make great viewing over the next few days for us snow starved southeasteners, indeed the snow has already started falling! Slightly more optimistic for a little snow here during this cold snap, more than I was with last weeks although I did see a few flakes! Let's hope for upgrades. M
  11. Well this light band of precip has just reached here and shock horror it's Rain!! I really can't see this week delivering any snow here and now after not seeing a flake for over 2 years I just long for the warmth of spring to arrive! If it's going to snow we need a decent easterly as we had in December 2010 which produced almost a foot of level snow here! There's no point in just having a slushy mess.
  12. It's rained here most of the day but the last 2 hours have been torrential! Our patio is under a good few inches of water and it's never been totally submerged in 30 years! Also seen a video of Southend seafront under a good foot of water which has entered the amusement arcades and shops, hell the ice cream signs were floating down the street & apparently the water stinks!
  13. Big Lightning & Rumble here just now, rain getting heavier and sky very dark.
  14. Hmmm, as far as storms go this was an EPIC FAIL! Plenty of rain but 4 flashes and a few rumbles, that was it. Just across the channel Belgium/Netherlands are getting another walloping same as they did this morning! Grrrrr.
  15. Still going rain wise but limited T/L. However our last flash was one of the strobe like ones people have reported, and it looked a bit pink in colour.
  16. Rain, Thunder & Lightning! And to make it even better i'm at a lake all night fishing so once its dark i'll hopefully get one hell of a light show!
  17. Need the storms coming out of northern france across the channel to move due north if they're going to affect the SE and the E/NE of England. Only using the met radar on my phone but they seem to be moving NE and look like going into the North Sea .
  18. I feel your pain Shrimper from the past couple of events! However I've finally been in the right place this time around and have had snow all day with a couple of inches on the ground (roads/paths melted but covering again now). I'm only around 15 -20 miles north of you as the crow flies and I've watched in agony as you and Paul in Leigh had far more than here in the previous events. Think you've still had the better deal over the winter though as today's snow is very wet and slushy and not the dry stuff of the past! M
  19. Still heavy here and roads/paths covering over again after a thaw during the lull in snowfall earlier. I'd say we have a good 2 inches on the shed roof, cars and grass and its only really the concrete areas letting the cover down. Still very impressive for late march! Looking at Wales and Cumbria with just a hint of envy though!! M
  20. Still coming down here and everything is covered but the Meto radar is getting worse each time I look at it! I can't see it lasting much more than an hour. Is it meant to drop south and/or intensify or is it game over once it stops? M
  21. Heaviest of the day here now. Roads and pavements which were just soaking wet are now rapidly being covered and other surfaces are building up nicely! Very wet snow however with a slight thaw as its falling. If this were mid winter we would certainly have a deeper layer! M
  22. Very underwhelming from Peter Gibbs at 18:30. Showed plenty of rain over our region but did mention snow but not until later in the day. I was under the impression we we due for snow overnight and into tomorrow morning or was this never the case? M
  23. Pop into the Wales thread if you're after a snow fix. Some places have had a right pasting already with 1ft reported in a few spots and plenty more to come! M
  24. Pretty snowy in Leeds at the mo and it snowed for most of the journey from Essex this morning. Probably a couple of inches here but its fairly wet snow. On way back home shortly so hopefully see more snow in EA/SE over the weekend! M
  25. Snowing at Stansted Airport as i head north! Didn't expect to encounter any until later in my joirney! M
