  1. I'm slightly envious of those in the NE and N of the UK. We have had continuous snow here all day long but most has been tiny flakes blowing in the wind. We have around 6+ cms now but most has fallen since dark and the roads/paths are already melting. Those up north have been battered with continuous heavy snow showers and there's plenty more left on the radar where as we are pretty much done down here. I do love a good heavy snow shower and they have decent depths too with more to come.
  2. That's an interesting drawing in the snow in picture number 4
  3. Snow almost stopped here and it seems to be breaking up over me on the current radar. The roads and paths are melting already as you can here it running down the drain outside. On all other surfaces we have around 5-6 cms so not bad for mid march! Had it not been so warm the last few days it would have settled on the concrete far easier.
  4. Snowed all day here but very light and didn't stick to paths or roads. However since darkness it's got much heavier and now everywhere is covered
  5. Size of the snowflakes at the Stoke match ais ridiculous! I reckon i'd need 100 of my flakes to make just 1 of theirs.
  6. Snowing here still but tiny flakes. The roads and pavements had dried outbut the snow is wetting them again now rather than settling
  7. Can't help wondering where these "showers" are going to come from. Looking from Birmingham northwards the North Sea is packed with showers and has been for hours on the radar returns. But off the coast of EA/SE there is nothing there at all? We have around 2cms on everything other than roads or paths, but those are drying nicely now so IF anything else appears later today it should stick.
  8. This is what I don't really get. Avery again last night on the 21:55 forcast showed EA/SE Cloudy with no snow and yet had a persistent shower train of snow coming in around the Hull area and pushing westward. The rest of the uk showed nothing at all. Then Sundays event he had Ireland covered in snow, some in the SW and nothing everywhere else. Either the man is an idiot and can't read charts so something is going on that everyone else is missing? I'd still rather put my faith in Steve M etc but with a day to go surely the BBC's forecasts would be matching our guys on here!
  9. Avery has just done the 21:55 forcast and put barely any snow in the graphics at all. Mentioned wintry showers for Saturday and then put any heavier snow in the english channel for sunday! Yet people in the mod thread are talking 20+ cms for some. His graphics had less snow on than the same time yesterday. Don't rate him personally and I'd rather listen to our experts on here, although personally i think 20+ cms is a bit of a tall order.
  10. I'm 33 and I'm in the Caribbean so missing all the poxy snow!!! Typical that i miss the best event in probably 20+ years
  11. I'm currently sunbathing too, Curacao today as part of our Caribbean cruise. However when i get wi-fi I'm still checking in here and the MOD thread to find out what you guys will be getting and what i'll be missing grrrr. It's like an illness we can't help but check the weather Looking forward to seeing all your snow pics and reports.
  12. I've had a few snow events this winter but it's typical that i fly to Barbados on sunday just as an Easterly sets up and threatens to bring a real dumping end of next week onwards Hope you all see something decent over the coming weeks
  13. Just woke up and I can confirm we have a dusting on all surfaces here in my little bit of Essex! Now back to bed.
  14. Just to add that the heavy shower did arrive and it was rather impressive, covered all surfaces with ease and has only since melted on the main roads. Makes you wonder how much we could have had if there had been a persistent rash of showers overnight.
  15. I'm currently in Basildon and the sky is very dark looking down the A127 towards Southend. Hopefully it's heading in this direction. We had a slight dusting in Heybridge when i left for work. Nothing great but nice to see.
  16. Still snowing here and settling on most surfaces which is a suprise! I honestly expected all rain today.
  17. Rain has turned to sleety wet snow here now. A rather horrid grey day outside and there's pretty much zero chance of any settling snow!
  18. Raining when i left Maldon but i had to do a double take a few miles up the road in Bicknacre as all the parked cars and grass had a layer of snow/slush on them! Even the road was actually slushy on closer inspection. Continued heavy sleet/snow as i drove further but now in Basildon it's just rain. It was a suprise if nothing else!
  19. Heavy Rain here. The hunt is on for the next cold spell now! The M1 looks fun at the minute.
  20. Rain/Sleet now turned to heavy snow. Settling readily even on the wet ground! Temp has dropped from 1c to -1c Great cold spell.
  21. A truly horrid day here! Torrential rain all morning, the temperature is just above freezing and the wind is blowing! Still a hefty covering from yesterday on everything except the roads. Hope it turns to proper snow at some stage as working outside in this isn't fun.
  22. Snow stopped here, although perhaps more later. We have around 4 inches which I'm bery happy with considering the forcast was for mainly rain! No wind here at all though, there hasn't been all day, it's very still out there.
  23. Current view in Heybridge, Essex. Snow now very light but still falling. Easily the best since 2010!
  24. We've done massively well here and totally unexpected! I'm 13 miles north of you as the crow flies, in Heybridge. We have a good 4+ inches and its still snowing. At 6am it was torrential rain!
  25. Utterly amazing here, our best since 2010 without question! Not been out to measure yet but it must be between 5-8cms and to think were meant to get only rain!! All this onto soaking wet surfaces too
