  1. Yes just did an 8 minute Interview with Sky - Hope it went well! Most of the info is in this thread though so no need for Sky!
  2. Well they toyed with the idea of F6 after Moore stating damage as "Inconceivable" but it never made it past the chatter! So never say never
  3. Stepped Outside into the covered part of the garden, lots of Crawlers but the main Cg's ran across the anvil and landed to my SE out of shot! Some nice shotgun thunder though so a few must have landed behind me - Lol storms dont always play the game! Best I could manage, even had to put a jumper on
  4. Nah just watching this one, its bloody freezing! Impressive turbulent Skies underneath with Mammatus some really nice CGs to the west. Might try to get the whole cloud top lighting up with its a bit further away south seems it has a clean back edge
  5. Might venture out for this one, that first storm being about 30 miles west of SE Essex was/is very impressive on the lightning front, as others have said the one further NE towards Chelmsford is flashing away now as well and should be a closer hit!
  6. Kent Clipper 100% - Probably see nice Lightning from Sussex Though
  7. We had 2min 28sec on a small rural road in Wyoming North of Guernsey, as soon as the 3 major models had come together on Sunday evening I knew we were not going to have to worry about cloud in E Central Wyoming. The nearest person we could see to us was about 5 miles away such was the visibility at our point. I hope you can see one of the guests pictures on the facebook link (John Finney) - The experience is surreal and the change from dusky light to dark in a blink of an eye is incredible. I would definately do this again and am already planning USA 2024 which has 4 mins 28 sec totality on April 8th!
  8. Tada! As if by magic! And thats why a blog is such a great thing, pick the date and see whats on there! http://blog.weatherholidays.com/2014/10/saturday-11th-october-2014-north.html
  9. Full write up for Tues/Wed event on my blog below https://blogs.weatherholidays.com/index.php/2017/07/20/essex-storm-chase-tue-18th-wed-19th-july-2017/
  10. Would be in Southport on the beach by now If I was up there, or Morecombe Bay for the next 30 mins Lots of Lightning with it as well
  11. Quite rare, see them most years in the USA. Yesterdays one actually was first picked up as an MCV around the Jersey and Guernsey area and travelled all the way to the Humber. Now that is impressive. It was showing MCV tendencies over Portsmouth/Southampton area early evening and then took shape again around NW London. Fascinating to watch unfold!
  12. Best Storm I can remember was around 1981 in August that year, was 9 years old and living in Chelmsford at the time. The sky turned milky white after a day of 34c temps. (This I now know were the anvils from the MCS moving up from France) Then around 10pm first flickering of lightning, then this wnt on for around 7 hours! Yes 7 HOURS! You could clearly feel each new cell come through at 30 minute intervals with heavy rain and hail and constant lightning. Now those were the days of Proper Mcs Storms, maybe we are starting to get back to that ?
  13. No worries buddy glad you had a great chase, wish I could pull all nighters now but am getting too old, this is a young mans game
  14. Please Explain this ? I posted at 10am yesterday way back on this thread that Euro4 had this nailed with 2 rounds of Storms, the first going up through Cornwall and Devon and onto Ireland which Verified, then the 2nd wave that hit the SE was also modelled correctly. I guess its all down to what models you trust and how you interpret the data to hand. I was not buying some of the models predictions from early yesterday that were saying west is best. We had a screaming ENE yesterday that was piling moisture and running the Theta W plume straight into Central Southern England and SE England, the streamlines were also showing storms at 600/700hpa following this plume, some storms even made it to the 500hpa vector, but none of them showed the steering flow getting to the Midlands. I also did a check on dewpoint/moisture yesterday around 4pm. Dps in the South and South East were low to mid 60's and not mixing out whereas from the Midlands North they were around 50-55f. Does not take a rocket scientist to work out where the Storms would be
  15. Pretty much bang on mate - I use between F7 And F11 with about 10-15 second exposures and ISO 100 AND 200
  16. Just nailed 2 career shots of Cgs hitting the Estuary between Kent and Essex - Was a tad hairy at times though
  17. Now do I go out for my 2nd chase of the night to my favoured spot overlooking the Estuary looking south ?? Or bed it and watch it land ?
  18. That Theta W Plume really is holding these storms together. 3 hours ago I had a temp of 19c and dp of 16c now showing 20c Temp and 17c Dp. With the aid of the trough you can see why this is a special event down on the south coast
  19. Just got back from a chase which saw me plot up at Great dunmow and what a Great storm it was, some insane Cg's and lovely structure for the Uk. Was with Peter Scott who has an uber expensive camera so will share the structure pics when he uploads them. Now heading south and can see Cg's from a full 70 miles away to my south from the Brighton Storms. Madness
  20. I am going to show him this when I meet up with him in Arizona in 3 weeks time, he will jaffa cakes himself laughing am sure
