  1. Conditions on Tuesday 7th June 2005, Readings taken at 09:45. At the moment it is cloudy after a very cold night for the time of year. Ill have to check my records but I think this is the highest pressure Ive recorded so far in 2005, it is still steadily rising. Current Temp: 14.2°C Min Humidity: 56% Pressure: 1036.4hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 5.5°C Wind: NNE (2mph)
  2. Report for Monday 6th June 2005, Readings taken at 23:40. The first dry day of June so far, though it wasnt very sunny either. It was mainly cloudy with occasional brighter periods and a light northerly wind. Later in the afternoon and early evening the skies cleared to leave a sunny end to the day. After a disappointing day temperature-wise, it is currently cooling quickly under the clear skies and a ground frost looks possible. With a maximum of only 14.4°C and a minimum approaching 7°C, today was well below average for the time of year meaning the current June average has dipped below the 1971-2000 value for the first time. Current Temp: 7.2°C Max Temp: 14.4°C (at 16:27) Min Temp: 7.2°C (Current) Humidity: 72% Min Humidity: 52% (at 15:59) Pressure: 1031.9hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 3.0°C Wind: NNW (2mph) My June average currently stands at 13.9°C (-0.2°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  3. Report for Sunday 5th June 2005, Readings taken at 23:45. A thoroughly miserable day. It began mostly cloudy and dry before the rain arrived just after 9am. At first this was very heavy before becoming lighter after an hour or so. The wind then changed direction to an easterly accompanied by a temperature drop and light rain continued until the early evening. At present it is overcast but the rain has stopped, the temperature is slowly falling but it looks like another mild night unless skies clear. With a maximum of only 15.8°C reached at 8:24am it was an extremely cool day for June. So far all 5 days of the month have had considerable rain amounts. Current Temp: 10.1°C Max Temp: 15.8°C (at 08:24) Min Temp: 10.1°C (Current) Humidity: 85% Min Humidity: 75% (at 08:29) Pressure: 1018.0hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 7.6°C Wind: NE (3mph) My June average currently stands at 14.6°C (+0.5°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  4. Report for Saturday 4th June 2005, Readings taken at 23:30. After a mostly cloudy start it became almost overcast by midday, which led to a few moderate showers. These continued into the early afternoon before it brightened up again, making it feel pleasant in a maximum temperature of 19.6°C. The evening saw much of the same, with cloud dissapating and leaving some prolonged sunny spells. Temperatures today were around average for June, but it did feel chilly in the early afternoon in a strong westerly wind. Current Temp: 13.5°C Max Temp: 19.6°C (at 14:51) Min Temp: 9.0°C (at 05:33) Humidity: 78% Min Humidity: 58% (at 16:22) Pressure: 1010.6hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 9.7°C Wind: W (3mph) My June average currently stands at 15.0°C (+0.9°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  5. Added here as I missed the other thread Report for Friday 3rd June 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. After a mostly cloudy and dry start with hazy sunshine, the cloud thickened considerably by mid-afternoon. This led to some heavy thundery showers, with the final shower lasting well into the evening. By nightfall it turned drier with overcast skies and a light westerly wind. In the hazy sunshine earlier on it managed to reach a respectable 22.4°C, but this quickly feel back to around 13°C as the showers arrived. There was also a sticky feel in the air as the humidity increased steadily from the mid-afternoon. A combination of the high maximum and minimum temperatures has raised my June average over a degree above the 1971-2000 value and interestingly, 3 out of 3 days so far this June have seen substantial rain. Current Temp: 12.1°C Max Temp: 22.4°C (at 12:10) Min Temp: 10.9°C (at 05:25) Humidity: 88% Min Humidity: 59% (at 14:09) Pressure: 1003.1hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 10.1°C Wind: W (7mph) My June average currently stands at 15.2°C (+1.1°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  6. We've had a further 2 thunderstorms here, the latest one has lasted over an hour so far, with some heavy rain and also lightning this time. Tally for the day is now 3.
  7. A thunderstorm has just passed over here. Fairly heavy rain and thunder heard overhead.
  8. A heavy shower is about to come over, the sky has turned pretty black in the last few minutes. Feeling quite warm though. Current Temp: 20.9°C Humidity: 61% Pressure: 1004.2hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 13.1°C Wind: SSE (5mph)
  9. Report for Thursday 2nd June 2005, Readings taken at 23:45. The morning started off overcast and wet with a moderate southerly wind. The rain stopped by midday before a gradual brightening up throughout the afternoon allowing the temperature to top 20°C. It felt very sticky as the humidity was high throughout the day and the wind gradually died down. This evening has seen some pleasant sunshine and the temperature gradually fall back in clear skies. Current Temp: 13.2°C Max Temp: 20.6°C (at 16:01) Min Temp: 12.9°C (at 02:31) Humidity: 82% Min Humidity: 68% (at 18:38) Pressure: 1007.7hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 10.0°C Wind: SSW (6mph) My June average currently stands at 14.4°C (+0.3°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  10. Report for 1st June 2005, Readings taken at 23:40. The morning started with heavy rain, overcast skies and a moderate south-easterly wind. Clear skies overnight allowed the temperature to fall to 7.9°C before the rain and wind arrived. By late-afternoon it became dry for a few hours before more light drizzle which continued into the evening. It is currently still overcast but dry with extremely high humidity and temperature. There has also been a rapid pressure drop from midnight of 13mb as the low pressure system arrived. Overall, a miserable start to summer and quite cool for the time of year. Current Temp: 14.1°C Max Temp: 16.3°C (at 17:27) Min Temp: 7.9°C (at 04:25) Humidity: 89% Min Humidity: 73% (at 07:20) Pressure: 1012.3hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 12.3°C Wind: SW (3mph) My June average currently stands at 12.1°C (-2.0°C Below the 1971-2000 average).

It then turned cooler, reaching only 11.6°C in a strong northerly wind on the 4th. The cool spell continued well into the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the month, but saw some pleasant sunshine despite struggling temperatures. There were a few wintry showers on the 16th as northerly winds brought Arctic air and a maxima of only 11.6°C along with some damaging ground frosts. From the 18th it turned warmer; everyday from the 18th - 31st had a maxima above 17.3°C, reaching above 20°C on the 5 days from the 24th to 28th. There was also much more cloud and rain around than earlier in the month. With a final average temperature of 12.1°C, May 2005 is above average. In fact, May 2004 was slightly cooler (12.0°C). The trend for cooler minimum temperatures seem to continue, with May 2005's average minimum temperature well over a degree below May 2004.
  12. Report for Sunday 29th May 2005, Readings taken at 23:15. After a clear night the morning started sunny and warm with a light south-westerly breeze. Cloud bubbled up by mid-morning turning the sunshine hazy, but the breeze died down and humidity fell sharply meaning it felt very pleasant indeed. The late-afternoon and evening were mainly clear after the cloud burnt off, but in the last few hours the temperature has dropped and it now feels quite chilly. It was cooler today, both by day and night than the last 4 days, yet still respectable for late-May. Current Temp: 10.4°C Max Temp: 19.8°C (at 14:17) Min Temp: 8.3°C (at 05:54) Humidity: 68% Min Humidity: 43% (at 14:35) Pressure: 1018.6hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 4.7°C Wind: N (Calm) My May average currently stands at 12.1°C (+0.8°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  13. Report for Saturday 28th May 2005, Readings taken at 23:30. A mostly sunny and pleasant day but with a strong wind of 25-30mph which gusted to gale force quite regularly. Despite the forecasted "cooldown", today was actually a warmer day than yesterday, topping yesterday's maximum by 1.2°C. Last night was slightly cooler than the night before, but humidity remained high. This evening saw lighter winds and clear skies, as a result temperatures have rapidly fallen from around 19°C at 7pm. My May average is now 12.0°C, equal to the 2004 value in this location. Noteworthy however is that the high average this month is due to a high maximum temperature average, last year it was the minimum temperature average. Current Temp: 11.7°C Max Temp: 21.6°C (at 13:52) Min Temp: 10.9°C (at 00:54) Humidity: 72% Min Humidity: 50% (at 16:53) Pressure: 1013.7hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 6.8°C Wind: SSW (6mph) My May average currently stands at 12.0°C (+0.7°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  14. Report for Friday 27th May 2005, Readings taken at 23:15. After a partly cloudy and very mild night, the day began with the temperature rising quickly and sunny skies. However, by mid-morning it had become almost completely overcast and remained that way for the whole afternoon. Only occasionally did a few sunny spells appear, but these did nothing to raise the temperature. The evening saw skies clear, but the temperature has since started to fall sharply, with humidity increasing equally as quick. With a maximum of 20.4°C, today was 3.4°C cooler than yesterday. It also felt significantly cooler aswell, with a nagging easterly wind. Despite not being as warm as yesterday, the day was still well above average, meaning my May average is now 0.5°C over the 1971-2000 value. Current Temp: 11.3°C Max Temp: 20.4°C (at 12:25) Min Temp: 11.4°C (Current) Humidity: 86% Min Humidity: 52% (at 09:31) Pressure: 1006.5hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 9.0°C Wind: NE (4mph) My May average currently stands at 11.8°C (+0.5°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  15. Kind of disappointing! This really is an isolated south-east warm spell, I expected it to get a little warmer than this. Skies are still cloudy with occasional bright spells and a light breeze. It doesnt feel particularly warm. Current Temp: 18.9°C Humidity: 65% Pressure: 1010.6hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 12.1°C Wind: SE (6mph)
  16. Report for Thursday 26th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. After an incredibly mild night for the time of year, the morning started off mostly cloudy with brightness gradually increasing towards the afternoon. The afternoon itself was very pleasant, with lots of sunshine and a refreshing breeze. This combination allowed the temperature to reach 22.6°C, which although warm, was just slightly cooler than yesterday. The minimum temperature on the other hand was the warmest since 10th September 2004, making sleeping difficult when combined with the high humidity. Both the high maximum and minimum temperatures means this month is now well on its way towards being another 12°C May. Current Temp: 13.8°C Max Temp: 22.6°C (at 14:09) Min Temp: 13.8°C (at 23:54) Humidity: 70% Min Humidity: 53% (at 19:42) Pressure: 1015.1hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 8.4°C Wind: N (Calm) My May average currently stands at 11.7°C (+0.4°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  17. It reached 23.8°C here today, which was extremely pleasant. However, the thing I hate most about these southerly warm/hot plumes is the night. Even at midnight it is still 16.5°C and the humidity is quickly rising. Plus as my room gets the sun late in the afternoon it is currently at a toasty 27°C and 59% humidity, its going to be so hard to sleep tonight!
  18. Report for Wednesday 25th May 2005, Readings taken at 23:50. After a wet, overcast start it gradually brightened up and warmed up in the process. The night in itself was a very mild one, with the minimum temperature the highest since January 7th 2005. The afternoon turned out to be mostly sunny and remained dry, although cloud did build for a time. When the sun made an appearance the temperature increased, reaching 23.8°C, the warmest maximum so far this year and the highest value since September 5th 2004. This evening has remained very mild indeed, only falling below the 20°C mark after 7pm. It seems very likely tonight that a new high minimum temperature for 2005 may be set. The combination of high minimum and maximum temperature values today means my May average is once again above the 1971-2000 figure. It looks like another above average month will occur. Current Temp: 16.5°C Max Temp: 23.8°C (at 15:44) Min Temp: 10.5°C (at 05:29) Humidity: 67% Min Humidity: 56% (at 16:28) Pressure: 1014.0hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 10.3°C Wind: SSW (8mph) My May average currently stands at 11.4°C (+0.1°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  19. Currently cloudy and dry after a wet miserable morning, feels quite warm due to the high humidity. Current Temp: 17.4°C Humidity: 72% Pressure: 1009.5hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 12.3°C Wind: WSW (8mph)
  20. Report for Monday 23rd May 2005, Readings taken at 23:50. A mostly sunny day with broken cloud and the odd light shower. Temperatures struggled to rise just as yesterday but eventually hit 17.3°C late in the afternoon. It felt quite chilly in a strengthening south-westerly wind and relatively low humidity but in sunny and wind-sheltered spots it felt quite pleasant. This evening the skies have remained partly cloudy and the wind still quite strong. Current Temp: 9.8°C Max Temp: 17.3°C (at 16:17) Min Temp: 6.4°C (at 05:23) Humidity: 71% Min Humidity: 46% (at 15:12) Pressure: 1012.2hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 4.7°C Wind: WSW (17mph) My May average currently stands at 11.0°C (-0.3°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  21. Report for Sunday 22nd May 2005, Readings taken at 23:50. A sunny day with patchy cloud thickening as the day went on. In the morning it felt cool in the breeze but by mid-afternoon it warmed up and felt quite pleasant. Later in the evening saw some beefy showers, which were heavy but not thundery in nature like yesterday. In the last hour or so the skies have cleared, allowing the temperature to drop somewhat. At 18.9°C it was another mild day, following on from a mild night. Current Temp: 9.3°C Max Temp: 18.9°C (at 15:09) Min Temp: 8.1°C (at 04:41) Humidity: 87% Min Humidity: 48% (at 15:35) Pressure: 1003.9hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 7.2°C Wind: SSE (7mph) My May average currently stands at 11.0°C (-0.3°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  22. Only one shower to speak of here today, it was a 45 minute one which had almost everything - rain, hail, thunder and strong winds.
  23. Report for Saturday 21st May 2005, Readings taken at 23:40. After a mostly clear night the morning started off sunny and reasonably warm, reaching 15°C by around 10am. However throughout the day, the cloud bubbled up but suprisingly it remained dry until the late evening when a there was a prolonged shower lasting for around 45 minutes. This shower composed of hail, rain, thunder and also had a strong wind associated with it. Afterwards the skies almost totally cleared which has allowed the temperature drop into single figures again tonight. Overall another warm day, meaning my May average is slowly but surely creeping back up to the average. It has risen some 0.5°C in the last 4 days. Current Temp: 8.5°C Max Temp: 18.1°C (at 13:43) Min Temp: 6.1°C (at 05:19) Humidity: 87% Min Humidity: 49% (at 13:56) Pressure: 1002.0hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 6.4°C Wind: SSW (8mph) My May average currently stands at 10.9°C (-0.4°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  24. Report for Friday 20th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. After a very mild night which didnt see the temperature drop below 11.8°C the morning started off sunny with a strong southerly breeze. After midday the cloud began to build which made the sunshine more hazy and gave a few light showers late in the afternoon. These showers died out in the evening to leave clear skies which are allowing the temperature to drop. The most noteworthy aspect of today is how warm it got, with 21.5°C reached in the afternoon. It did feel cool at times in the strong wind though. The combination of a mild night and warm day have increased my May average so that it now stands just half a degree below the 1971-2000 value. Current Temp: 9.3°C Max Temp: 21.5°C (at 13:56) Min Temp: 9.3°C (at 23:54) Humidity: 73% Min Humidity: 51% (at 15:44) Pressure: 1006.3hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 4.7°C Wind: WSW (4mph) My May average currently stands at 10.8°C (-0.5°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  25. Currently sunny and feeling reasonably warm, but with thickening cloud and a strong wind. Current Temp: 20.4°C Humidity: 57% Pressure: 1004.0hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 11.5°C Wind: SSE (16mph)
