  1. Report for Thursday 19th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. After a cloudy and mild night which saw a bit of drizzle, the morning started overcast but dry. However throughout the day the cloud became more broken allowing a few sunny spells which felt quite pleasant out of the breeze. This evening has seen the return of overcast skies, meaning the temperature is still very mild indeed. With a maximum temperature today of 19.6°C, today is the warmest day since May 3rd, as is the minimum temperature. Assuming the temperature holds, tomorrow could end up with the highest minimum temperature of 2005 so far. Current Temp: 13.6°C Max Temp: 19.6°C (at 17:04) Min Temp: 8.1°C (at 05:25) Humidity: 83% Min Humidity: 61% (at 17:01) Pressure: 1008.6hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 10.7°C Wind: SSE (8mph) My May average currently stands at 10.6°C (-0.7°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  2. Report for Wednesday 18th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. The morning started off sunny with the temperature quickly rising after a cool night. By midday the cloud had built and the sun became more hazy. Despite a change in wind direction to the south and the temperature reaching 17.3°C it didnt feel too warm, especially so in the mid-afternoon when it became totally overcast. It is currently still overcast, although dry, at least for the time being and the temperature holding. With a cold night and mild day, my May average is unaffected today, but still remains almost a degree below the 1971-2000 average. Current Temp: 9.8°C Max Temp: 17.3°C (at 12:26) Min Temp: 3.8°C (at 03:21) Humidity: 63% Min Humidity: 43% (at 12:58) Pressure: 1016.3hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 3.1°C Wind: SSE (4mph) My May average currently stands at 10.4°C (-0.9°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  3. Currently partly cloudy with the temperature falling rapidly, another ground frost looking likely. Current Temp: 4.1°C Humidity: 78% Pressure: 1018.7hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 0.6°C Wind: SSW (Calm)
  4. Report for Tuesday 17th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. A sunny, dry and fine day. The cloud did tend to build up around midday and early afternoon, but by late-afternoon the skies had cleared once again to give some pleasant sunshine. It felt cool in the wind which was strong at times and the air was of very low humidity before the wind turned to the south-west. Last night saw a ground frost followed by another cool day, with the temperature falling rapidly as the skies cleared in the late-evening. Current Temp: 5.4°C Max Temp: 12.8°C (at 12:08) Min Temp: 2.9°C (at 03:25) Humidity: 79% Min Humidity: 41% (at 13:28) Pressure: 1018.9hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 1.3°C Wind: SSW (2mph) My May average currently stands at 10.4°C (-0.9°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  5. Report for Monday 16th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. An interesting day which saw the maximum temperature occur just after midnight followed by a gradual fall in temperature throughout the day as the colder air moved south. There were overcast skies with light drizzle in the early hours before it brightened up giving sunny spells in the early afternoon. This evening saw thicker cloud move in, along with a short wintry shower consisting of hail pellets. Current Temp: 5.2°C Max Temp: 11.6°C (at 00:05) Min Temp: 5.2°C (at 23:55) Humidity: 74% Min Humidity: 52% (at 15:55) Pressure: 1020.0hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 0.9°C Wind: NW (3mph) My May average currently stands at 10.5°C (-0.8°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  6. Currently overcast with light drizzle. Pressure rising quite rapidly. Current Temp: 9.2°C Humidity: 84% Pressure: 1014.8hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 6.6°C Wind: N (13mph)
  7. Summary of Sunday 15th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. The morning started off mostly cloudy with a few spells of hazy sunshine and a chilly feel in the air after a another cool night. As the day went on this cloud burnt back towards the coast leaving a glorious afternoon which allowed the temperature to rise to 19.0°C (the highest since 3rd May). The wind also died down a little making it feel very pleasant indeed. Later in the evening saw the return of the cloud, becoming overcast by midnight. Current Temp: 11.5°C Max Temp: 19.0°C (at 16:15) Min Temp: 4.1°C (at 03:00) Humidity: 68% Min Humidity: 44% (at 16:14) Pressure: 1012.6hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 5.8°C Wind: WNW (6mph) My May average currently stands at 10.7°C (-0.6°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  8. After a mild and cloudy night the morning started off relatively sunny before the cloud built up again mid-morning. The afternoon saw mostly cloudy skies with sunny spells becoming more prolonged as time went on and the strong north-easterly wind dying down a little. It was another cool day, only reaching a maximum of 12.8°C in one of the longer sunny periods of the afternoon. Humidity was generally high which is typical of an easterly wind here, being some 10 miles from the North Sea. This evening has seen the skies clear and the wind die down further, however temperatures are still holding up well. After another cool day my May average has fallen some 0.7°C below the 1971-2000 value. With northerlies expected next week bringing some cool days and cold nights, it is looking very possible that this month could finish significantly below average in my location, the first since July 2004. Current Temp: 6.7°C Max Temp: 12.8°C (at 15:20) Min Temp: 6.6°C (at 22:43) Humidity: 83% Min Humidity: 61% (at 15:02) Pressure: 1020.0hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 4.0°C Wind: NNE (7mph) My May average currently stands at 10.6°C (-0.7°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  9. A cloudier day than of late. The afternoon saw more in the way of sunny spells but the cloud quickly thickened again before the evening. Currently the skies are overcast meaning temperatures are holding up, but strangely the humidity is falling. After a night of average minimum temperatures today was a cool day, typical easterly weather in my location for May. Current Temp: 8.1°C Max Temp: 13.8°C (at 12:02) Min Temp: 5.6°C (at 05:06) Humidity: 72% Min Humidity: 60% (at 14:24) Pressure: 1023.2hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 3.3°C Wind: ENE (5mph) My May average currently stands at 10.7°C (-0.6°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  10. After a cold start it was a pleasantly warm and sunny day with only small amounts of cloud. In the afternoon the wind turned to the east and made it feel cooler. This evening has been clear and seen the temperature drop quickly once again, but the light easterly breeze should ensure we miss out on a ground frost tonight. With the maximum temperature for the day around average and the minimum below average, my May average has fallen further to some half a degree below the 1971-2000 value. It is starting to look like a below average May in my location is a very real possibilty this year. Current Temp: 6.4°C Max Temp: 15.5°C (at 14:20) Min Temp: 2.1°C (at 04:49) Humidity: 84% Min Humidity: 51% (at 14:49) Pressure: 1025.3hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 3.8°C Wind: E (2mph) My May average currently stands at 10.8°C (-0.5°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  11. Another fine dry and sunny day, with very little in the way of cloud. It did feel a little chilly at times with a light south-easterly breeze, but was still warm enough to sit out in. Last night also saw a ground frost and the lowest minimum temperature so far this month at 1.9°C. A combination of a cold night and average day time temperature has lowered my average for May further, it now sits almost half a degree below the 1971-2000 average. Current Temp: 5.0°C Max Temp: 15.2°C (at 14:26) Min Temp: 1.9°C (at 06:03) Humidity: 80% Min Humidity: 46% (at 16:11) Pressure: 1025.6hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 1.9°C Wind: SE (Calm) My May average currently stands at 10.9°C (+0.4°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  12. A dry and sunny day, with some cloud bubbling up again by midday but no shower activity like the last few days. This evening the skies have cleared meaning temperatures are already dropping quickly. This comes after a particularly cold day where the maximum was only 11.1°C in the late-afternoon. Last night we missed out on a ground frost as the temperature reached its minimum at midnight and slowly increased. Tonight will almost certainly see one as the wind has also dropped to nothing. Taking today's temperatures into account my average for May has now dipped below the 1971-2000 average for the first time this month. Current Temp: 4.1°C Max Temp: 11.1°C (at 15:00) Min Temp: 4.1°C (Current Temp) Humidity: 81% Min Humidity: 52% (at 12:46) Pressure: 1025.5hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 1.1°C Wind: WNW (Calm) My May average currently stands at 11.2°C (+0.1°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  13. Report for Monday 9th May 2005, Readings taken at 00:00. A fine start with partly cloudy skies and sunny spells before the cloud once again bubbled up. Although the showers were fairly widespread on the radar all of them missed my location and it remained dry for the whole day. By the evening the shower activity nearby decreased and resulted in some pleasant late sunshine. With a maximum of only 12.8°C after a chilly night, it was a rather cool day overall. The temperature this evening has been steadily dropping meaning a ground frost is quite possible. My May average temperature is now a fraction of a degree above average and continues to fall, should tomorrow be another cool day it may just reach the average figure. Current Temp: 5.2°C Max Temp: 12.8°C (at 13:28) Min Temp: 4.1°C (at 04:20) Humidity: 73% Min Humidity: 47% (at 13:31) Pressure: 1018.0hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 0.8°C Wind: WNW (3mph) My May average currently stands at 11.6°C (+0.3°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  14. From midday onwards saw the arrival of several thunderstorms here. These featured a mixture of rain/hail and even what looked like sleet in one of the later showers combined with a large temperature drop each time. Im not too sure about the sleet, but with the 850hPa air locally as cool as -5°C and large temperature drops in the showers I suppose its very possible.
  15. A bright start with some pleasant sunny spells before the cloud bubbled up by midday giving some heavy showers. These showers continued throughout the afternoon with a mixture of heavy rain, hail, thunder and what looked like sleet in one of the later showers. As with yesterday's showers, the temperature dropped sharply combined with an increase in humidity as one passed over. It was an average day temperature-wise, but felt chilly under the showers. This evening has seen the shower activity die down and skies clear somewhat allowing the temperature to gradually fall. However a ground frost is unlikely tonight as there is still a slight north-westerly breeze. Current Temp: 5.8°C Max Temp: 14.1°C (at 13:07) Min Temp: 4.9°C (at 05:15) Current Humidity: 80% Min Humidity: 48% (at 13:09) Pressure: 1011.2hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 2.6°C Wind: WNW (4mph) My May average currently stands at 12.0°C (+0.7°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  16. 4 thunderstorms have passed over here today, 3 of them had lightning and very loud thunder, 2 of them had heavy hail of around 5mm in diameter. Interestingly in the first of the showers the temperature dropped from 14.2°C to 8.8°C and the humidity shot up from 46% to 69% in the space of less than 20 minutes.
  17. This morning started fairly windy with some sunny periods and broken cloud. This cloud thickened slowly throughout the day until the evening when it became totally overcast. Although there has been a strong NW'erly wind all day it actually felt warm, surpassing 15°C with ease. Last night was much milder than the previous which almost saw a ground frost, but did cool down quickly once the skies cleared. My May average temperature is slowly decreasing towards average, but remains well above for the time being. Pressure is also falling rapidly at present by almost 0.1hPa/minute as the low approaches. Current Temp: 10.2°C Max Temp: 15.8°C (at 14:09) Min Temp: 6.8°C (at 05:43) Humidity: 73% (Min of 46% at 16:47) Pressure: 1008.9hPa (Falling Rapidly) Dewpoint: 5.5°C Wind: WSW (2mph) My May average currently stands at 12.6°C (+1.3°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  18. A mostly cloudy day with sunny spells and a brisk north-westerly wind. The cloud burnt off a little mid-afternoon and left some pleasant sunny spells in the evening. Despite reaching a maximum of 17.3°C, it felt rather chilly in the wind. Last night also saw relatively low temperatures around midnight, before the temperature gradually warmed to around 8°C by 6am. After yesterday's chilly day and a cold night my average for May has fallen to a much more reasonable level, although still well above average. Current Temp: 9.9°C Max Temp: 17.3°C (at 14:38) Min Temp: 3.9°C (at 00:00) Humidity: 76% Pressure: 1013.3hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 5.8°C Wind: WNW (12mph) My May average currently stands at 12.9°C (+1.6°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  19. Currently Overcast with a strong wind and pressure falling sharply. It does feel much warmer than yesterday though. Current Temp: 15.3°C Humidity: 59% Pressure: 1015.4hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 7.3°C Wind: WNW (11mph) I missed the Wednesday thread so heres yesterday's summary aswell (readings taken at midnight). A wet start followed by sunny spells and mostly cloudy skies. It felt a lot cooler than of late, only reaching a maximum of 11.6°C. It was quite a windy day until the evening when it calmed down and allowed the temperature to fall. Current Temp: 3.9°C Max Temp: 11.6°C (at 13:50) Min Temp: 3.9°C (at 23:59) Humidity: 82% Pressure: 1022.3hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 1.1°C Wind: W (3mph) My May average currently stands at 13.5°C (+2.2°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  20. Tuesday 3rd May, readings taken at midnight. A mostly cloudy day with a mixture of sunshine and showers in the morning but becoming clearer and dry in the evening to give some pleasant sunshine and warmth. Temperature: 9.6°C Max Temp: 19.8°C (at 17:20) Min Temp: 9.4°C (at 23:55) Humidity: 86% Pressure: 1009.4hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 7.3°C Wind: S (3mph) My May average currently stands at 15.4°C (+4.1°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  21. Overall much more pleasant than yesterday with sunshine throughout the day until late-afternoon when the clouds started to bubble up bringing a few heavy showers. The temperatures were a tad higher as well, reaching a maximum of 22.3°C - the highest since September 5th 2004 and a minimum of 10.1°C - the 4th highest of 2005. Thankfully today also had a much lower humidity than yesterday, along with a lighter breeze meaning it felt warmer but much less sticky. The last 2 days have also bloated the May 2005 temperature average to 4.5°C over the 1971-2000 average. Although its only 2 days in, usually with such a warm start, an above average month is certain. Current Temp: 13.0°C Max Temp: 22.3°C (at 13:58) Min Temp: 10.1°C (at 05:43) Humidity: 81% Pressure: 1009.5hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 9.7°C Wind: SSE (3mph) My May average currently stands at 15.8°C (+4.5°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  22. Currently sunny with cloud bubbling up, there may be some showers later if it continues. I cant believe how warm it is today though, I wasnt expecting much above 18°C but instead it is above 21°C for the second day running. Current Temp: 21.2°C Humidity: 59% Pressure: 1007.9hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 12.9°C Wind: SW (4mph)
  23. An interesting day, at 22.0°C it was the warmest maximum since September 9th 2004. Strangely it didnt actually feel that warm though, in fact you could be forgiven for thinking it was more like 12°C with a south-westerly breeze making it feel cool. Although bright, there wasnt any real sunshine today with skies only clearing once the sun had gone down. It remained muggy and attempted to rain earlier but it didnt even wet the ground. The mild conditions today also ensure my May average starts at a whopping +4.1°C above average. Current Temp: 12.6°C Max Temp: 22.0°C (at 16:03) Min Temp: 8.7°C (at 05:59) Humidity: 83% Pressure: 1006.8hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 9.7°C Wind: SW (2mph) My May average currently stands at 15.4°C (+4.1°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
  24. Currently mostly cloudy with the odd bright spell. Although it is 22°C and quite humid, it doesnt feel all that warm for some reason. Current Temp: 22.0°C Humidity: 69% Pressure: 1004.8hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 15.9°C Wind: S (6mph)
  25. The day began overcast and misty with light rain and a slight breeze. Until mid-afternoon the temperature struggled to get much above 12°C but with such high humidity it felt muggy and unpleasant. By late afternoon the cloud began to break a little, allowing some brightness and a rise in temperature. This evening and tonight has remained the same, mild and mostly cloudy but dry. Current Temp: 9.5°C Max Temp: 17.2°C (at 16:28) Min Temp: 9.4°C (at 23:54) Humidity: 89% Pressure: 1010.5hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 7.7°C Wind: ESE (1mph) My April 2005 average is 9.2°C (+1.1°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
