  1. Snow quickly melted away, pretty much gone by about mid day. In terms of tomorrow it's just not going to cold enough for any snow below about 250-300m. The timing of the band won't help either with it arriving late morning.
  2. Well after today's snow cover it's not been as bad as the awful 2013-14 Winter. But it's still been rubbish Winter overall. Hopefully next Winter will give us a beast or two. A 2018 repeat would suit me just fine.
  3. Full covering here! This Winter has finally redeemed itself! M60 looks treacherous on the eastern part of the ring road looking at the cams. As does the M62 from about Middleton eastwards.
  4. Going to get some kip I think. Doesn't look like there will be anything interesting until about 5am or thereabouts. If it does happen that is. Won't hold my breath.
  5. They've got a good chance imo. I thought Athletico Madrid looked very impressive against Liverpool too. Bayern did good last night as well. So many quality teams left in competition. But I think after City's win tonight it's going to fill them with confidence that they can beat anyone going forward.
  6. Just watched it. That was a great win for City... pretty much dominated Real Madrid. First ever win over them & not an easy thing to do at the Bernabeu. Madrid looked a bit frightened by City's attacking power. City in the driving seat going into 2nd leg.
  7. Tomorrow obviously the further away from the coast & how high up you are will determine snow amounts. I reckon 70m upwards should be enough. So pretty much the entire eastern part of the region should see at least a covering on surfaces by morning. Looks a better prospect compared to last night/today. A dusting like last night doesn't cut the mustard for me.
  8. Got a dusting here now. Hopefully more by morning.
  9. Irish sea dead. Gonna take a break for a bit. It's like pulling teeth haha. I think we need a bit of humour as it's that
  10. Yes southern Sweden & Denmark aren't all that cold at all. I've noticed they rarely get sub zero max temps. Most of Denmark is at sea level as well. Think the highest place in the whole country is something like 160m. In terms of Sweden once you get north of Stockholm the Winters are a lot more severe/long lasting.
  11. The Midlands are getting snow because they're further away from any sea. This is a good setup for them with Cheshire gap streamers. Stoke could do very well tonight.
  12. Temp & dew slowly becoming more favourable now. So should be good to go soon enough. Just need the showers now tonight.
  13. Looking south east I can see a good covering on Kinder Scout. Looks snowless below about 350-400m...for now.
  14. For the majority of us tonight looking too marginal for any meaningful snow - temperatures looking a tad too high. Although could be a window of opportunity of a few hours in the morning. It's a different matter tomorrow night though. Temp & dews looking a bit better throughout. Just a matter of getting the precipitation in.
  15. No snow cover here this morning. I slept through my alarm clock but the missus was already up she informed me that there was no covering. Never is with the fabled SE flow. Hopefully better luck tomorrow.
  16. Even here we didn't get a lot from that event on 22nd-23rd March 2013. It was disappointing. The strong SE wind caused a big snow shadow. But we made up for it in 2018. For here we do best from an easterly and north-easterly direct from Siberia......but winds from the south-east during a frontal event? Forget it. It's just not going to happen. I'm getting a bit sceptical about tomorrow morning due to the wind coming from that direction.
  17. Euro4's take on tomorrow. Not quite a KABOOM chart like it was showing last night but still a fairly good covering showing across a good chunk of our region. Probably a good idea to set the alarm earlier than usual as it looks like it will be washed away pretty quickly as milder air surges in after (if it does snow) ICON showing a fairly widespread covering WRF says not much across the south of the region.
  18. March may well be meteorological Spring but in northern parts of the UK it can still bring heavy snow & conditions more akin to Winter - especially early & mid month. I've known many a snowy March. For me the feel of most of the month is still wintry as well. It might be a bit lighter during the morning & evening but there's still no leaves on the trees or any proper flowering happening. For me Spring doesn't truly kick in until April when nature visibly wakes up but even then there's still a lingering risk of some wintry weather given we had snow cover here one morning just a few days off May in 2016.
  19. Looks like the window of opportunity for *potential* snow on Monday will be first thing in the morning before milder air quickly shunts the cold away. But at the moment I'm not convinced there will be snow cover as widespread as the Euro4. Though having said that when it's bullish like that it can be closer to the mark. The other week when the Irish sea never woke up properly it was correct. It showed virtually nothing settling away from the Lakeland fells.
  20. Lost count the amount of times this Winter that we've been in the orange or even red zone for accumulated precipitation. It's been a thoroughly depressing season.
  21. Diabolical day. Pretty much non stop moderate to heavy rain most of today.
  22. Not a fan of heat/scorching sun but thankfully we don't get it often here in the north west. I couldn't live in the south east corner especially London given how hot it can get there on a more regular basis. Must be unbearably sweaty on the tube in Summer. Only been on it once but not during Summer, even that was enough. Too many people for starters.
  23. Yes the field's around my house are just terrible. A muddy mess. My boots sink into the ground as it's that sodden. Speaking of 2000 if only we got a decent cold spell like Dec 2000. Feb 2001 wasn't too bad either. At least that Winter brought some proper snow & cold at times despite it being thrown in with the fabled 1997-2008 Winters. This Winter however has just been a failure compared to that.
  24. Difficult to know for sure but it doesn't look great tomorrow.
